Can you share where it was from, roughly how much it cost (a bracket if you like) and whether you're happy with it...

We need ours done and feeling totally overwhelmed by the options, cost and fear of spending so much and making a bad choice...

It was from wren. Think it was about 10 grand all in, with appliances.

piscofrisco · 22/10/2023 18:24

Sorry and yes we're happy with it. It won't last forever but it's fine for us and looks good. The design service was great, the customer service was really good and we took advantage of the buy now pay later sales thing which saved us a fair bit of cash. People said don't buy from Wren but we had a good experience with them, and the quality of it seems comparable to other big kitchen companies in similar price bracket.

Howdens. About £20k. Love it

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 22/10/2023 18:25

We got ours from DIY Kitchens and a local fitter. We needed new electrics, plastering and new plumbing. Cost us 10.5 k including some appliances but we had to be strict on the budget. We only had 11k in total for the project, so had to be really strict.

LegoLady95 · 22/10/2023 18:31

Local independent, all appliances except washing machine and dryer. Neff oven and hob. Including quartz worktops. £24k fitted approx. Love it.

Was that including appliances and fitting? Is it a small/medium/large kitchen?

Looking at having ours redone just now - we’ve just put the order in.

We are using IKEA for the kitchen + fitting. Cost around £10k including plastering the whole kitchen and ceiling and a new floor (done by our local plasterer and local company for the floor)

Ill tell you how well it went in 3~4 months time!

pinku22 · 22/10/2023 18:55

Small kitchen, howdens. No appliances apart from hob, sink, fan. 3100 plus fitting

This seems amazingly good value for independent. What area of the country are you in?

Just ordered our aHowdens kitchen. Approx £8k + not including appliances and quartz worktop. Also need to factor in installation.

Hopingforno2in2023 · 22/10/2023 19:00

IKEA approx 10k for medium sized kitchen and a utility room. Largely happy, a few little issue but overall feel very good value for money.

ItsReallyOnlyMe · 22/10/2023 19:00

I spent £5K on spray painting the existing cupboards, new oven and hob, new flooring, new Quartz worktops.

It was all done bit by but with me ordering and finding good prices for the goods. I absolutely love it and it's worked out better than if I'd ordered a completely new one (the existing units were sold wood).

anon2022anon · 22/10/2023 19:05

DIY kitchens, under 3k for 2m floor to ceiling units, doors for 7 other units and plinths/ decorative end panels/ peninsular, etc.
Facebook marketplace & local cheap merchants, £3-400 for those 7 units and laminate worktop.
£1600 for cooker, job, fridge from wherever HUKD found a good offer.
Amazon £60 for cupboard handles

Fitting was family and a local labourer, joiner to do some door hanging for half a day.

CMOTDibbler · 22/10/2023 19:13

We've just put in a Wren kitchen into what is now a huge space and all new appliances, Quooker tap, quartz work surfaces. Very pleased with the design service and the variety of clever storage items. Loads of the cupboard doors were damaged on the corner during delivery due to poor packaging, but I couldn't fault the ease of getting replacements.
My builders fitted it apart from the quartz, but the guys who did that were excellent.

Itwasfinetillitwasnt · 22/10/2023 19:15

B and q kitchens - £3400 for all units, integrated fridge freezer, integrated washing machine, oven and hob, extractor, work tops, sink and tap, handles. Plus £3400 for fitting, some electrical and plumbing, plastering two walls and tiles and tiling. All I had left to do was flooring and decorating.
Was a local fitter (b and q quote for fitting was £5000).
Very happy.

mrsbyers · 22/10/2023 19:19

Kitchen and utility , all new appliances, sockets , worktops and flooring came to £11k using kitchen direct - had to have quite a bit of plastering and electrical works too

wiffin · 22/10/2023 19:20

We paid 10k for inframe oak units, 3k on quartz. The cost was in the new white goods, underfloor heating, tiles, electrics and total refurb of the rooms. Plus custom pantry and bootroom (both cheaper than off the shelf).

You can spend what you like on a kitchen.

What colour are they pushing you towards?

nearly55 · 22/10/2023 19:21

Howdens, around £12K for all units (for both kitchen and utility room), appliances (oven, microwave, dishwasher, induction hob and extractor) and LVT tiles for floor. Medium sized kitchen.

Fitting was about another £9K but that included taking down a wall, taking up the previous floor (a nightmare!), plastering, quite a few plumbing and electrical changes, and laying the floor.

Love our new kitchen - it's been worth every penny we spent.

Can I ask what size kitchen this is?

Handmade kitchen of Christchurch. L shape plus island (around 5m square). Units were 11,500
Quartz 3k
Paint £200 (did it ourselves)
Appliances £3k
Fitting £1k

BB2818 · 22/10/2023 19:47

Wickes (small-med size kitchen) £4,850 including; units, doors, counter tops, upstands, kickboards, sink, hob, dishwasher, oven, extractor fan.

We waited for 20% of whole kitchen (inc appliances) deal. The person from Wickes came out and measured and we then went into store to design. He was great and told us the deal would be coming up in a few weeks. He rang us when the deal started and we paid. They have various deals alternating.

Fitted ourselves. More than happy with it and will definitely last. We have 10 year guarantee too for the kitchen and separate warranties for each appliance.

DiaNaranja · 22/10/2023 19:50

Wren mainly... it cost about 28k in total, but that was including quartz worktops, range cooker, and composite sink. I sourced fancy taps, handles and bespoke mirrored splashbacks elsewhere as wasn't keen on any of the Wren ones, but I've included that in the price. (I've also accounted for the cost of fitting, electrics, plumbing, flooring in that figure.)

DiaNaranja · 22/10/2023 19:52

Oh and lighting!

U shape kitchen.
252cm units one wall. Free standing fridge/freezer.
302cm one wall.
265cm remaining wall. This wall is like a peninsula with 60cm units one side and 30cm units the other side. No breakfast bar.

Hubby just said £8500 approx inc VAT and free Bosch dishwasher.
Went for middle range. Sale is currently on.

ForeverWinter · 22/10/2023 19:57

Ours was from Wren
Kitchen was about 7k including appliances (it's a small kitchen)
Fitting was about 2kish (independent fitter) We then got this back because our builder was garbage beyond garbage and we sued him because of his shoddy work.
