We're due to sign all the paperwork at our solicitors tomorrow for the sale of our house and purchase of dream house. The house is pretty much packed up - 40+ boxes, 4 trips to the tip and about 8 bin bags to the charity shop so far.

Tell me it's not going to go horribly wrong at the last minute..!

Congratulations Cherryred!!! Only a week to go now

Dottydot is in London today (need to rescan thread), so we might not find out if she has exchanged.... [fingers crossed she has though]

Fimbo · 20/02/2008 16:30

Just rescanned, yes she is in London today.

RubySlippers · 20/02/2008 16:34

well done Cherry - we haven't

Fimbo · 20/02/2008 17:10

Whats the hold up now RubySlippers?

RubySlippers · 20/02/2008 17:13

because the person at the bottom of the chain has still not got their mortgage offer faxed to the solicitor

it would have been quicker if it went by carrier pigeon, seeing as though the fax was meant to be sent yesterday

There's always one.

I thought our chain would be delayed because at the last minute there was a problem with the glass in our back kitchen window (wasn't safety glass), luckily the brother of the lady buying our house, had his own glazing company and came out the next day to measure up the glass and then fitted it when it was ordered and we paid him directly. I could not believe it when I spoke to our buyer and she said her brother could do it! Was definately fate...

Hang on in there.

RubySlippers · 20/02/2008 17:21

You are right - always something

i am so frustrated as we have been trying to move for 11 months

Fimbo · 20/02/2008 17:25

It's a nightmare. We ended up having to go into rented for 6 months just to keep our chain going.

cherryredretrochick · 20/02/2008 17:29

It is always the person at the bottom of the chain isn;'t it. Hopefull for you for tommorow, what is your move date.
I am so giddy, It is also my wedding anniversary and I am a little over excited.
May have to crack the wine soon as I am struggling to contain myself.
Fimbo, was moving into rented a good move, my friend is thinking of doing it as they are struggling to keep a chain going.

RubySlippers · 20/02/2008 18:41

happy anniversary!

no move date - well, we had had several

hope Dotty is all sorted seeing as i have hijacked her thread

Dottydot · 20/02/2008 20:13

We've exchanged!!! Am on the train coming back to Stockport - should be home by 10pm and then will need to finish off any last minute packing! All our stuff's going into storage tomorrow and we complete on Friday!!!

Can't quite believe it's happening - our house went on the market 14 months ago and it's taken 4 months to sort this sale/purchase out...

Ruby - fingers crossed for you for tomorrow - keep us posted!

whoop whoop Dotty!! thrilled for you ... hope you can squeeze in a glass of wine as well as packing

4 month is great - apparently the faxed copy of the mortgage offer is at the solicitors so we should be able to exchange!

cherryredretrochick · 21/02/2008 08:21

Conggrats Dotty, guess you won't be reading this as you will be a bot busy today.
Good luck Ruby, make sure that we are the first people to know and I will open another bottle to cel;ebrate with you.
I seem to have been packing for about 4 months and I can't wait to get rid of the boxes, although I don't actaully seem to be making a dent in the stuff. Keep going.

MrsJohnCusack · 21/02/2008 09:01

whoo hoo DOtty! At last!

Fimbo · 21/02/2008 12:39

Yay for Dotty & Mrs Dotty and the dots. You're next Ruby.

CRRC-It was worth going into rented just to get our house sale out of the way. It puts you in a much stronger position when you come to buy as you are chain free. But we ended up with most of our stuff sitting in the garage in the rented place as it was too small, as we didn't want to pay a lot for the rented place, so we just took on a tiny 3 bed (well 2 beds and a boxroom), we also struggled to find somewhere in our village. In the end we bought a new build as we just got so fed up of chains.

cherryredretrochick · 21/02/2008 17:22

Ruby, any news today? Dotty I guess your all moved out now, hope it went really well!

All being well we'll complete tomorrow and get the keys to our house!

I have reached the point of packing were I am labelling boxes random stuuf, incl lightbulbs and tea strainer. I just keep thinking I am going to have to cover the entire house to unpack this.
