The house is packed and we SHOULD be exchanging contracts tomorrow...

We're due to sign all the paperwork at our solicitors tomorrow for the sale of our house and purchase of dream house. The house is pretty much packed up - 40+ boxes, 4 trips to the tip and about 8 bin bags to the charity shop so far.

Tell me it's not going to go horribly wrong at the last minute..!

ooh dotty, I think you deserve an 'I Am Organised' badge. That is seriously impressive having it all done with time to spare! How exciting for you.

Fimbo · 17/02/2008 16:38

Oh good luck.

I have been away on holiday, is this still THE house, as I thought it fell through? (perhaps I am mixing you up with someone else??)

Dottydot · 17/02/2008 16:38

Well, if we exchange tomorrow our buyers want to complete by Friday, but the removal firm we want to use aren't free on Friday so would have to move us on Thursday... And I'm at work on Tuesday and in London on Wednesday

So we've pretty much got today and tomorrow to get sorted!

Yes, it's the house!! Complete mess structurally - we're having to move in with my Mum for 3 months while all the work is being done (aarrggghhhh), but then it'll be wonderful and we should be in just in time to enjoy the garden! sigh....

Do you have a loft? Have you remembered to empty it?

Fimbo · 17/02/2008 16:41

Congratulations . How did you salvage the situation? (should I be looking at another thread)

Well done on being super organised.

Dottydot · 17/02/2008 16:43

Well, it was all off and our house was back on the market (because our effing buyers were insisting on trying to knock us down another £2K for this and that). We were at our limit financially so said sod it.

Then the estate agents for the house we wanted to buy suggested we ask for £2K off the house we're buying. We felt a bit bad as we'd all agreed the price, but the agent thought it was worth a go to keep the chain going, and the sellers agreed!

Couldn't believe it - seemed like fate.

We've got a loft but nothing's in it (I don't think) - better check... Thanks!

That's fab Dotty. .

It's so great when things work out, we put our house on the market a year ago today, and only finally moved into our new house in November.

Dottydot · 18/02/2008 12:42

oh good grief. Well we're exchanging contracts on both houses tomorrow, but our buyers have got a 100% mortgage so therefore no deposit - so we've all agreed to exchange on a nil deposit, which sounds very scary. Completion date is now Friday, but no removers from Friday so we're moving out on Thursday.

Am absolutely paranoid our buyers are going to pull out - I've got a baaaaadd feeling about it...

clumsymum · 18/02/2008 12:45

hang on, you have a loft but nothing stored in it ??????????? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not possible, surely. Our house is likely to capsize !!

where do you keep xmas decorations?

Dottydot · 18/02/2008 12:48

In the dreaded cupboard under the stairs - it's quite a big cupboard and is heaving full - haven't even started packing it yet, but it's a day in itself!

And we haven't got a similar cupboard in the new house!!

EiWishFor3MoreWishes · 18/02/2008 13:11

xx ei xx

cherryredretrochick · 18/02/2008 16:41

Oh good luck, I was looking at your post about it falling through about the time that I thought ours sale was about to fall through as buyer didn't actually have any money.
We are also exchanging tommorrow and are aboutb 75% packed, moving next Thursday, I can't wait.
It's so exciting isn't it?
Booked removals today and started to panic about things like fish tanks.
In fact I came on here to start my own thread but thougth I would just hijack yours
I am so pleased for you, the next few months may be a drag but it will be so worth it when you get in the massive garden.

littleboo · 18/02/2008 16:43

Dottydot · 18/02/2008 20:00

I wish!! Only this afternoon we were having a heated discussion on a precious Snoopy poster - dp was stressing over how to pack it so it stayed flat. I suggested the rubbish bag but didn't get very far...

OP posts:
cherryredretrochick · 19/02/2008 08:24

PMSL, at pack in the rubbish bin, I have been trying this a lot but mostly ended up throwing mine and the dc's stuff(god they have some crap), dh will not part.

Fimbo · 19/02/2008 13:53

Hope you exchanged Dotty!

Dottydot · 19/02/2008 17:47

Aaarrggghh - no, not yet! Solicitor phoned and there's one document outstanding from our buyers (grr) which they're bringing today, so we should exchange tomorrow...

OP posts:
cherryredretrochick · 19/02/2008 17:56

OMG dotty, we were supposed to exchange today, even told dh to get bottle of wine on way home, message from solicitor at 5pm saying our seller is querying the redemtion figure the bank has given them hopefully will be resolved tommorow.
I am sure everything is actually really straight forwrad but solicitors make it seem really stressful to make sure you know they earnt there money.
(only joking if any solicitors read this).
Anyway will be thinking of you tommorow, good luck.

RubySlippers · 19/02/2008 17:57

oh no! how frustrating

there is always something

hope tomorrow brings good news for us all

cherryredretrochick · 20/02/2008 16:15
