Ordered our new chevron floor and loved it, the pictures online it all blended together and looked somewhat like a real wood floor and I've been so excited but seeing it fitted all I can is see the joins. You can so clearly see the tiles. It looks awful, doesn't it?

I honestly think it looks really good, I love it Grin

Covert19 · 12/02/2021 18:17

Nobody will be staring at your floor but you. Nobody else will even notice let alone care. I think it looks fine.

Justanotherfaceinthecrowd · 12/02/2021 18:21

It looks really lovely!
Enjoy it x

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 12/02/2021 18:26

Yes, it looks like tiles. But not awful tiles. I could definitely live with it.

AbstractHeart · 12/02/2021 18:31

I just showed DH the photo and asked him if he could tell what was "wrong" with it. He had no idea.

SunshineCake · 12/02/2021 18:32

Without the lines it would just be one big block of colour...

My dh can't see it either! I can't see anything but!

I know what you mean , all I can see is the lines of tiles.
I wouldn't be happy with that. I'd never not see it.
Would it have worked better If they had turned a tile the other way and staggered so you don't have squares from the joins. Am I seeing that right ?

AnxiousPixie · 12/02/2021 18:36

I don't think it's been laid right?? When I've seen it before the tiles have been 'staggered' if you know what I mean so the joins aren't all in a line and not so obviously. Like you'd lay laminate planks. You wouldn't lay them all in a row you lay then staggered in more of a brick pattern.

SunshineCake · 12/02/2021 18:37

I have seen the horizontal lines after zooming in a lot. Either ask them to rectify or tell yourself it's new and smart.

williowrosenburg · 12/02/2021 18:40

Think I would be disappointed too OP...but would hope over time you wouldn't see it.
Is only in certain lights it's obvious?

Comefromaway · 12/02/2021 18:44

Who fitted it? We’ve got a similar pattern in our en-suite and it’s definitely not square tiles. It’s oblong

SnarkyBag · 12/02/2021 18:44

I looked at the picture without reading your post and couldn’t see the issue. I can now I’ve read your post but I honestly think most people won’t notice

It's fine !!!
But I'm not living with it .....can you ???m

clockstopper · 12/02/2021 18:46

It could be better.

I wondered this, it looks too uniform and I think that's just making the lines more obvious.

You have my sympathies, it's rubbish when you're so excited and the end result isn't what you expected. I wouldn't be happy with it either.

minipie · 12/02/2021 18:49

You mean the rectangles? I didn’t notice them till the third look.

Todayissunny · 12/02/2021 18:51

Mostly it looks lovely, but they have made a mistake in the middle. The colours don't match where they should. If that was corrected it would be great.

hauntedvagina · 12/02/2021 18:59

OP, I may be wrong (and as this is Mumsnet I'm sure someone will be delighted to point it out if I am 😉) but I was always under the impression that laminate floor shouldn't be laid so all the joins lined up. The joins should be offset to make it stronger.

georgarina · 12/02/2021 19:08

I think it looks really nice!

AngusThermopyle · 12/02/2021 19:10

I'd be a bit disappointed tbh, i think your joins should have been staggered rather than straight on.

Frequentlymisunderstood · 12/02/2021 19:10

Yes, there is a whole line that is a different colour. I wonder if they are a different batch or something?
1forAll74 · 12/02/2021 19:16

I think it looks ok, after a while you will forget about what annoys you. It's like when you have papered a wall, and you keep noticing that a mistake in matching up has been made, and you keep noticing for ages, then you forget about it, instead of wanting to rip the paper off.

littlepattilou · 12/02/2021 19:17

@FlippinEll YANBU. I don't think it looks 'right' either. I also would not be happy.

As a pp said, I think it should look like this........
