Anyone got a new kitchen?

Any one care to share some pics of their new kitchens? I'm about to upgrade my kitchen and I'm at loss as to what kind of kitchen I would like. Painted vs contemporary, inset vs regular. I'm all pinterested out too.

@Tinyhumansurvivalist couldn't be happier. Our fitter was great and did our tiling too. A year in and everything is like new. Couldn't recommend them more!

Tinyhumansurvivalist · 03/08/2020 18:38

@JorisBonson was it an ikea fitter or your own please?

JorisBonson · 03/08/2020 18:43

@Tinyhumansurvivalist it was an Ikea fitter. The whole kitchen, with fitting, tiling, dishwasher, oven/hob and extractor was £3.9k. We have really clever under sink and cupboard storage and some hidden drawers to make up for the lack of space.

There is a very slight chip in the worktop but I think that's from one of my 3 cats playing on it 🙄

Tinyhumansurvivalist · 03/08/2020 19:44

Wow thats amazing. Thanks will look into it when I can get into our local one

JorisBonson · 03/08/2020 19:48

No worries!

CakesForTea · 03/08/2020 20:36

It’s still not quite finished after 6 months

IKEA for cabinets, sink and wood surface for bench seat and then we sourced our own granite worktop. So happy with how it's turned out and still feels fresh 2 years on! We have just sold our house but wish I could take the kitchen with us.

Similar minimalist look to Comtesse but we haven't put up any wall units. I love the handless doors just gives the kitchen a really clean look. Went for compact laminate for the worktops and I love them!

Icequeen01 · 03/08/2020 23:23

We did ours at the end of January. Previously I had black worktops and a black sink and lots of terracotta. I hated it and just wanted a bright, light kitchen. I went for a shaker style kitchen with oak worktops and I love it.

The floor tiles in my previous photo seem to have come out a wierd colour. They are lighter as in this photo.

But I got the handles at a proper ironmongers and the worktop is Quartz as Howden's worktops aren't all that....

mamalovebird · 03/08/2020 23:47

We had ours done towards the end of last year. Two-tone in a matt finish. It's contemporary but I broke it up a bit with the mosaic tiles and wooden table.

People are always amazed - it’s Ikea. Unit fronts are from the Voxtorp range and the counter tops are acrylic (pricey but I really liked the look and we saved a bit by pulling the previous kitchen out ourselves.) The whole thing including installation came in just under £10k including appliances.

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/08/2020 10:21

That was @Lily7050 btw

Fudgewhizz · 04/08/2020 20:41

How are all your kitchens so tidy?!

So many beautiful kitchens and ideas!! Ikea seems to be worth a look too.

Not that its a contest but I love your kitchen @ComtesseDeSpair . My kitchen is much bigger but I really think the clean lines and no handles look is amazing.

I think that I was almost sure that I wanted a painted kitchen but I will definitely consider a more contemporary one now.

I've also got DIY Kitchens Altino blue gloss. Identical virtually to a Magnet kitchen I had priced. Did the entire kitchen for less than Magnet wanted just for the units. I love it and the quality is fantastic. My fitter was really impressed - he'd normally fit Howdens.

FrameyMcFrame · 04/08/2020 23:14

Got ours done last year....

Interesting thread and great to see such different kitchens. We are hoping to do ours in the next couple of years, just starting planning now.

Keep them coming!! (Anyone brave enough to reveal the total cost of said kitchen would be much appreciated as desperately trying to work out how much we need to save).

seewhatyoudoing · 05/08/2020 11:39

Bespoke one, about 12k

@seewhatyoudoing That is lovely! Thank you also for putting the price, that seems quite decent for the size of kitchen you have. It really helps to get an idea. We also have a large kitchen and in my head I have 15-20k but there are so many variables!

How did you go about getting a bespoke kitchen, a local cabinetmaker?
