@Slightlysurviving I'm so pleased to hear your good news, I have been thinking about your and your daughter everytime I start to whine about my first world problems.

But today we finally got water, sink and the rest of it plumbed back in so i am whining a bit less...

MyNameIsJane · 25/11/2019 16:49

Good news @Slightlysurviving hoping you continue on the up and up.

MiniCooperLover · 28/11/2019 17:57

Very pleased to hear that @SlightlySurviving

MiniCooperLover · 28/11/2019 18:00

Our builders have finished woohoo ... kitchen pics to follow. Same floor throughout but sitting room is full of furniture at the minute. Looking forward to getting the dining table back in 👍

Gorgeous pics @MiniCooperLover.
The herringbone wood floor is beautiful against the dark units.

Yesterday I had professional cleaners in the new room, and today we moved the furniture back in.
I've filled half the cabinets but the kitchen island is covered with half unpacked boxes. My larder porn is too messy for pics...

Very jealous 'WhereDoesThisToiletGo*, I haven't been able to organise cleaners so I'm cleaning and unpacking as I go. Got professional cleaners coming 11th Dec so that'll help before Xmas at least

Whyisitsodifficult · 28/11/2019 22:19

@MiniCooperLover the floor looks fab, what is it?

MiniCooperLover · 28/11/2019 23:19

Thank you. It's Karndean Morning Oak Parquet.

lightlypoached · 29/11/2019 12:43

What's the collective noun for a group of builders?
A swarm of builders? A disorganisation of builders? A mess of builders? A drill of Builders?

Whatever it is they are here today en masse.

Still no definitive news on crack remediation but we may have a roof by the end of the weekend

How's everyone else doing?

lightlypoached · 29/11/2019 12:44

@MiniCooperLover lovely, lovely kitchen and floor. And dog Grin

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 29/11/2019 17:11

I think I've unpacked all the boxes back into the new kitchen, but I can't find my favourite big pot stand, which means I've either thrown it out or else there is another box hiding somewhere...

Gorgeous kitchen mini and love the floor! Oh dear about the pot stand wheredoes - hopefully it's staring you in the face somewhere.
We've got to the slow bit of finishing, will different trades dancing round each other , blaming each other for stuff not done etc! The kitchen is in, although quite a few adjustments still to be done. The corner larder is done but tbh I'm a bit disappointed with it, the joiner guy hasn't really followed the pictures i showed him☹ I can't really put my finger on what could make it better. I'll take a photo in the morning and ask for advice I think.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 30/11/2019 13:27

@gleegeek Let's have a look at your not quite right larder.
I'm sitting at a loose end waiting for yet another "missing bit of kitchen " delivery, and trying to sort out your "not quite right" thing will take my mind of my "not quite right" kitchen things!

Ha ha! Yes share my miseryGrin Sorry not the best picture - somehow the angles don't work in photos.

The kitchen itself is lovely, I just don't think the fitter is good at designing and creating stuff rather than straight kitchen fitting...

gleegeek · 30/11/2019 18:28

Excuse the mess!

@gleegeek that's a really well designed kitchen. I can see that the oven wall has a deep alcove and having shallow base units on the right side makes everything look the same depth.
Ditto the corner larder, he's obviously notched the shelves round another change in depth to make best use of the space but from the outside it all looks very tidy.
What is it you don't like about the inside? Obviously you will paint the shelves to get rid of the brown. What did the guide pictures look like?

OP posts:
chopc · 01/12/2019 08:21

@gleegeek this is very similar to my corner larder which didn't end up as what I planned either. However I think what I ended up with is better 🤔. Will post a pic when I get home

gleegeek · 01/12/2019 09:29

Thank you for your lovely comments. I'm really pleased with the design of the rest of the kitchen Smile It's from Howdens and they don't actually do a corner larder although you can buy the shell IYKWIM? I gave the fitter photos of the Wren and Wickes larders but he's gone a bit off piste! I think I need a couple more shelves and they're a bit deeper than I was imagining I think. I'm looking at kitchen storage for ideas as the how to break up the deep shelves with drawers or something.

I'd love to see a photo of yours chopc.

chopc · 01/12/2019 09:59

Well I plan to have all the small appliances in my larder. They are all still packed away as we moved in the summer and have not unpacked. Will upload pic this afternoon for sure

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 01/12/2019 10:31

I have spent the entire summer looking at larder videos.....
@gleegeek I think yours will work very well. Shallow (front to back) shelves are very accessible but you get more into a slightly deeper shelf. Your shelves looklike the actual wood is different thicknesses so maybe get an edge on the front to even them up.
You need a can organiser step thing to ensure you don't lose tinned tomatoes at the back.

I find the Pound shops excellent for small storage.
Clear plastic bins easier to see contents than pretty baskets.
IKEA Variera white bins if you want to hide stuff.
A lazy Susan in those deep corners.

@chopc I too intended to store small appliances in my larder but coffee machine has already escaped on to work top (leaving enough room above it for filling was just too wasteful of space) and I suspect toaster will follow as husband keeps on shutting the door while it's on...

Food processor and blender will definitely live in larder

OP posts:
WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 01/12/2019 10:36

I saw this brilliant idea online, storing food processor blades on magnetic knife rack, which I am definitely going to do

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo thank you for the useful tips

Here are pictures of my larder. Not exactly what I wanted but am very pleased. Need to find the appliances and see how they fit
