When we had this downstairs we had to have the tiles down first before the new downstairs toilet could be fitted. A svreed floor i think needs 2 weeks to dry? Although you can walk on it sooner. Our tiler advised us and wouldn't start til.it was properly dry

Catquest1 · 08/09/2019 20:07

I do realise im commenting more on these threads now we are done! Grin more time and less stressed i guess!

Spidershuffle · 08/09/2019 21:13

That looks great, @soakedat3 - what a neat fit! Your units are lovely too, where are they from?

How annoying, @WhereDoesThisToiletGo. Can you insist on having the floor done first, and rearrange the kitchen dates if need be?

Good to hear the positive reviews of DIY Kitchens, think they are our front runner at the moment. What are the inside of the drawers and cupboards like? Does anyone have a full height larder unit from them, and if so what is the inside of it like? Need to get myself to Yorkshire!

MyNameIsJane · 08/09/2019 21:13

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo Like @Catquest1 says, we were told 2 weeks after the screed is down before we could lay the floor.

@soakedat3 - we’re managing with drawing water from the outside tap. It’s a pain living on pre prepped meals all the time. Fingers crossed it will be this week.

soakedat3 · 08/09/2019 22:04

@Spidershuffle, they are Loch Anna Ricco aka Second Nature Litchfield range via a local supplier who I am in a bad mood with. So many tiny problems. They are lucky that the doors are really beautiful. Apart from the one I noticed a crack in today. Grr!! A long email has been sent! One benefit of a local supplier is that I got to say "You are welcome to come see the stupid problems for yourself". LOL!

@WhereDoesThisToiletGo, we wanted tiles under too but gave up that battle. I feel ok about it as they plywood-ed it all so feel like there is an extra floor under anyway. Are you doing that or using screed?

Jane - I really hope you get water soon!

Isittheend · 08/09/2019 23:14

Gosh Jane that sounds so hard. I hope you get water soon.
Soaked at your kitchen is looking great.
I'm excited as our planning application goes in tomorrow.🤞

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 09/09/2019 08:12

If it needs a 2 week wait after screeding, there's no way we'll tile before kitchen.
I'm seeing builder today or tomorrow to discuss. We're staying elsewhere at the moment so can't just pop downstairs and have a word.
Frankly I think we will have to delay the kitchen installation anyway.

WE HAVE PLANNING! Hoorah

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 09/09/2019 20:12

I'm hearing that in said in the same tone as The Marvellous Mrs Maisel yelling "WE GOT THE RABBI !!"

Yay! for planning!

Well this evening has been educational to someone who has never ventured to selling on Facebook...
Rest of kitchen being removed tomorrow, so this afternoon I posted pictures of lovely (old) kitchen before the builders trashed it and listed it for sale in 4 local groups. Big mistake was pricing too low but I just - in the words of FB Marketplace - "NEED IT GONE"
I know that FB Marketplace has default responses, so a terse "Is this still available"is understandable.
But when I am trying to respond to 5 different people (including a husband and wife both messaging me) it is really rather rude to send a message of ??? when I don't respond quickly enough.
Ditto "I get?" as a message.

Yay slightlysurviving! @lightlypoached, were you waiting to hear too?

Love Mrs maisel! :D
Do you get to shout "I SOLD THE KITCHEN" wheredoes? Hope so just to make dealing with rude people worth it.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 09/09/2019 20:57

I'm all for multi cultural bargaining, but had no idea how to respond when someone answered my advert in Arabic.

Thanks @soakedat3 - looks lovely.

Yay @Slightlysurviving!!

Good work in selling the old kitchen @WhereDoesThisToiletGo - and it sounds like it was work too!

avocuddl · 10/09/2019 08:29

Haha wheredoes! People go mad for a bargain! I put up a selection of glass jars for free that were from my wedding and you wouldn't believe how many messages I got, and some quite rude too!

Hope they come collect on time and you're rid of it okay! :)

avocuddl · 10/09/2019 08:29

Yay @Slightlysurviving !! Congrats!!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 10/09/2019 08:31

The rude ones just get told its sold.

Door klaxon!!! Not only our beautiful sliding doors but the finished utility ones. LOVE the garden doors. Am broadly happy with the utility ones but it’s not as smooth a set up as I’d hoped. Very much something to keep tinkering with.

Oh and we now have an outside tap. Which is actually not above the drain so all the water just falls on the concrete 🤦🏼‍♀️

And a picture of them closed (albeit with white cover tape still on the frame). And of the view from the front door - I have waited so long for this sight line.

Beautiful @worrisomeHeart!

Are the utility door bi/tri fold? Very elegant looking doors.

New Dad said to me today that they will finish nearly all the internal bits today. I LOLOLOLOLed. Then he asked for my list which I made last night and didn't tell him but he's obviously been here so long he knew I had one. "The List" is now being carried around but I've not had sight of it since so won't know until they are gone how many items are ticked off.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 10/09/2019 15:37

I like the sound of The List.
I think we should all have our own version of the The List.

Wow @WorrisomeHeart it looks AMAZING!! You must be so pleased!

Haha Soaked! I might start my list now 😬

Yayay @WhereDoesThisToiletGo for selling your kitchen!! Did you get a lot for it if you don't mind me asking?! I'm going to try and sell our oven hob extractor and dishwasher but no idea what to pitch it at- they're only w few years old!

avocuddl · 10/09/2019 16:26

We have one completed wall and it just looks ginormous!! I just can't wait for it to be finished now I'm getting impatient and we've barely started 😬

soakedat3 · 10/09/2019 16:31

Might be shooting myself in the foot now but I highly recommend Stardrops Vinegar Spray to clean grout haze off tiles. I went to get more but all sold out in Aldi but got last one in Home Bargains.

I see B&M do it too now so will be off there next to stock up!

Warning - not for limestone or marble!

soakedat3 · 10/09/2019 16:32

Woohoo Avo! How long did your builder say?
