Only a few posts left on the first thread of 2019, so here's a new one to get us started.

What colour walls, ceiling and Alusplash are you having?

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/08/2019 18:41

Can we see inside your larder unit or isn't it finished?

WorrisomeHeart · 12/08/2019 18:45

It’s not finished but I will post pics tomorrow. The alusplash is Blue Bird and I think the walls will be a white of some kind, possibly F&B Wevet. The pendants are a dark greyish blue.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/08/2019 19:09

Bluebird is gorgeous, can't wait to see the finished result

WorrisomeHeart · 12/08/2019 20:25

I’m slightly worried it will be too stark a contrast but we’ll see! I keep going and stroking the worktops and opening drawers 😂

soakedat3 · 12/08/2019 21:01

Looking great @worrisomeheart! Can't wait to see inside the larder unit! It looks really like the cad plans you shared so far. Have you much more to do now?

soakedat3 · 12/08/2019 21:02

@avocddl, how are things going with your extension?

WorrisomeHeart · 12/08/2019 21:25

We’ve got the skirtings, doors and the trifold door for the utility. The rubber roof needs to go on, exterior rendering to be finished and the boiler stuff sorted. That will likely be it until mid Sep when the doors and floor go down. In the loft there are just two more fire doors, and the shower to be fitted. Plus painting and carpet and flooring EVERYWHERE. And then starting the rest of the house when I realise it shows badly against the new stuff 😜

Spidershuffle · 12/08/2019 22:06

Evening all! Mind if I join? I've been reading along eagerly as we've been planning our kitchen extension, and as I've just made my first purchase for extension (the light for over the dining table, despite neither dining area nor dining table yet existing...) I thought it would be a good moment to say hello!

@WorrisomeHeart and @Noroof - what an exciting week you guys are having!! The pictures look great, you must be so pleased :)

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/08/2019 22:52

@Spidershuffle welcome to the chaos! Don't bother wiping your feet - this thread is covered with builder's dust.
I'm glad I'm not the only one indulging in premature purchases. I've got a TV unit arriving next week to go in a room that doesn't exist...

Noroof · 12/08/2019 23:04

Hello @Spidershuffle welcome!
Busy week ahead he which ends with me hopefully coming home on Friday after 6 weeks away. The extension won't be finished but the builder has promised a couple of rooms will be habitable. I'm back to work on Monday.

Spidershuffle · 12/08/2019 23:11

Thanks @WhereDoesThisToiletGo and @Noroof ! Not looking forward to the dust, WhereDoes, think I'll need to get some of those zip up door thingies. How exciting, Noroof!

Noroof · 13/08/2019 08:03

We have a start! It's a bit wonky as not secured yet. Exciting!

Hi @spidershuffle! When is your extension starting? Unlike us, you will hopefully avoid the torrential rain that was summer...

@noroof - looking good! I am still waiting and waiting. Builders basically doing busy work now. Or rather leaving apprentices to do busy work. We've still some plastering to do and electrician dragging feet finishing. Jealous of people with actual kitchen units!!

MyNameIsJane · 13/08/2019 13:43

Looking good though @noroof - plumber is here and going to connect dishwashers and washing machine today and tomorrow.

WorrisomeHeart · 13/08/2019 14:15

Welcome @Spidershuffle!!

@Noroof I love the blue. I am still sad we aren’t having a blue kitchen anymore.

All sorts happening here today. We have a plumbed in sink and dishwasher (although I think electrics still need to be sorted for the dishwasher), the fire door is going into the kitchen and I THINK the splashback is currently going on, judging by the glue I can smell 😂

I’ve also spoken to Corgi and said we want a refund and to have our own team finish the boiler off. I went round to the flue site with our plumber today (there’s been a massive trench there until yesterday so I couldn’t see it) and the work is appalling. Our plumber reckons the new pipework isn’t the right size and is basically going to have to redo it all. Oh and he also reckons that the boiler is massively overspecced and will never work at its full capacity - ‘challenge accepted’ I replied!!

WorrisomeHeart · 13/08/2019 16:27

And here you see the Pantry of Wonders 😂. Splashback to be done tomorrow so I’ll share a pic of that then.

We need to knock down our conservatory and replace with it with a single-storey extension, about 7m x 3m . Is there a good on-line guide on starting out on a big project like this? Haven't done anything like this before and need some guidance!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 13/08/2019 16:43

If you're planning on a Pinterest worth coordinated pantry, can I recommend Home bargains for containers. I got these for £1.49 each. Even B&M were charging £2.49 for them

MyNameIsJane · 13/08/2019 16:58

Ohh!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 13/08/2019 17:29

@MyNameIsJane???

soakedat3 · 13/08/2019 17:30

Ooooh! Love it Worrisome! Didn't realise you were having the wine racks and a power socket inside too.

I like those containers Wheredoes. It's strange how much better decanted things look. I didn't really think so until a few months ago but they really do!!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 13/08/2019 17:38

Near identical container from M&S is £6

Spidershuffle · 13/08/2019 18:28

Not sure @soakedat3 - architect still seems to think September but as we don't have a builder yet I'm sceptical to the point of incredulity!

That pantry is a thing of wonder, @WorrisomeHeart ! It will be spectacular with jars, totally agree about decanting.

I'm getting impatient to start seeing the progress you're all making, I'm excitedly imagining rows of (bargainous) tubs all lined up...!

Noroof · 13/08/2019 18:31

@WorrisomeHeart that is a thing of beauty. I'm just getting a 600mm larder and I have serious envy
