Only a few posts left on the first thread of 2019, so here's a new one to get us started.

I am travelling through today to see my house for the first time in weeks. I'm very nervous as this is the first time I'll see the new roof and everything. I'm also going through with about a million tester pots of paint. Must choose for living room, kitchen, hall and at least one of the kids bedrooms by today so my dh can get things moving

lightlypoached · 10/08/2019 08:38

Oooh @Noroof that's so exciting and scary all at once. Send photos !

WorrisomeHeart · 10/08/2019 09:29

Oh good luck @noroof!

Noroof · 10/08/2019 10:00

Thanks guys! I'll update asapGrin

soakedat3 · 10/08/2019 10:04

Yes photos please noroof!

I hate when people are grumpy doing the jobs you're asking them and paying them to do. Fingers crossed your plumber can finish the job and you don't have to see HGM again @worrisomeheart.

According to met forecast we might have a day of no rain. I hope that might be enough for brickies to make a start. I don't want funny white stains from rain reacting with wet mortar but at the same time if they could lay the very bottom rows then the big trench is a bit nearer to bring filled in!

We've moved some of our big appliances into the extension now. Expensive storage while kitchen is delayed! Our 8 week build is now at the start of week 11. :(

Noroof · 10/08/2019 13:18

Well I'm blown away...

The view is great and the space feels far bigger than I thought

chopc · 10/08/2019 13:43

Looks fab @Noroof

TheFatberg · 10/08/2019 13:52

@Noroof looking great, perfect view for fireworks.

Oh, that's great @Noroof. Lovely when the space is more not less than you expected.

I keep standing in one corner of kitchen looking at the far internal corner of World's Smallest Extension visible through the soon-to-be-removed window, and thinking "that's much further than I thought.

WorrisomeHeart · 10/08/2019 15:03

Oh wow that view is stunning @Noroof!!! How exciting!

lightlypoached · 10/08/2019 20:11

@Noroof you have a roof. A very groovy roof Grin

soakedat3 · 11/08/2019 14:01

Looks great @NoRoof!

soakedat3 · 11/08/2019 21:23

Now our kitchen has been delayed I am re-considering the thread induction hob or similar. Those who decided to get one, how is it going with it?

lightlypoached · 11/08/2019 21:36

@soakedat3 we already have an induction. Brilliant thing. Easy to clean, more responsive than gas and just generally lovely. The super fast boil function is really useful

We are replacing with a bigger multi-zone one with built in extractor this tim nefff I think.

MyNameIsJane · 12/08/2019 06:02

I love our induction hob. Clean lines and you can use it for worktop space when not in use.

It was the only darned thing that my husband threw out from the old kitchen. Hmm I’m still annoyed and I can’t understand the reasoning.

I’m off to Screwfix to get carpet covering this morning and off on a visit to the dump (visit 342 this summer holiday. I may be exaggerating Grin)

We’ve been moving items in to my eldest’s room and the kitchen. It’s all happening this week! I go back to work on Wednesday and I’ll be glad of the rest!

WorrisomeHeart · 12/08/2019 07:00

I can’t wait for our big induction hob - I’ve been so impressed with the Ikea one ring one we’ve had while the works have been going on.

Worktops are being installed today!!! After ending last week in the dumps, I have high hopes for this week. Hope everyone else has a great Monday.

soakedat3 · 12/08/2019 11:47

Today is the plywood floor for us. Still no bricks laid so New Dad has been on the phone to see if can get someone else.

I got a little £50 one ring induction hob from Argos this morning. Kids were very glad to have a cooked breakfast and everyone in a better mood as a result.

Noroof · 12/08/2019 12:03

My guys were working all weekend and we have partitions up in the roof space. Kitchen is going in today!

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/08/2019 15:41

I have a window hole! (just no window!)

WorrisomeHeart · 12/08/2019 17:05

KITCHEN!!! I am only mildly pleased with the handles but they were a compromise with DH so I am sure I will get used to them. LOVE the worktop and can’t wait to see the Alusplash once it’s in tomorrow.
And a pic of the en-suite splash-back which is currently being grouted, really pleased we decided to go ahead with getting the tiling redone up there.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/08/2019 17:53

@WorrisomeHeart oh it's lovely! Good the way they kept the protective film on doors until the handles went on.
Was it you asking about handle placement on wide drawers? If so are you happy with the result?

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 12/08/2019 17:56

@WorrisomeHeart what colour are your units? White cream beige or grey?
And are you boxing in above the units? - I'm currently dithering whether to or not!

WorrisomeHeart · 12/08/2019 18:06

Yep it was me! And yes I am pleased with the placement. The unit colour is a very light grey. We won’t box in above the units because we have that beam on the other side.

Noroof · 12/08/2019 18:07

Ooh that's lovely@WorrisomeHeart
