Only a few posts left on the first thread of 2019, so here's a new one to get us started.

No he was thinking one support each side. At the moment there are two each side which is why he thinks maybe it'll be enough for the lintel.

chopc · 26/07/2019 18:51

@WorrisomeHeart amazed at the speed at which things are being done in your extension! What was the total time it will take to complete?

MyNameIsJane · 26/07/2019 19:06

@soakedat3 we had the quartz man over yesterday. We still have lots to do in the kitchen but trying to push on with the bedrooms as well.

I thought our plumber was returning today to do the last of the bathroom but he didn’t arrive. Ah well. We’re still at my parents house.

MyNameIsJane · 26/07/2019 19:06

@WorrisomeHeart that view into the garden is great. We have one similar.

WorrisomeHeart · 26/07/2019 19:10

@chopc I am similarly amazed - the time estimated was 8 weeks all in. At the rate that they are throwing guys at it, we could be about 90% done in 4 weeks. It’s the end of week 2 today and I can’t believe how much has been done. The issue now is that the sliding doors won’t be ready until mid Sep and the builder has just emailed to say that the aluminium bits of the cedar overhang will take 4 weeks as well. But we should be water tight in about a week, with a built kitchen and utility cupboard!!

Would love to see other's plans

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 26/07/2019 22:45

@Noroof you'll have name change to Newroof!
It's lovely, there's something cathedral like about exposed trusses like that.

soakedat3 · 27/07/2019 17:54

That is a great roof @noroof! Good height.

@chopc, that's a lot of building and glass! Are you coming in a bit at the dining room? Slightly confused about the part where it looks like 3 French doors opening into the same area.

Ours is a simple extend out so not really worth putting plan on. We have some demolition today and also I'm much happier with bay now it's a bit more filled in. Would've liked to see side windows from front more but not enough to second guess the se. And just not worth the stress to get extra 5cm each side.

Wow all these walls coming down and new spaces is very satisfying to watch! Looks great @soakedat3

chopc · 27/07/2019 18:47

@soakedat3 yes it is three doors opening into the same space - was going to move dining room out but then lounge wouldn't have an opening into the balcony 🤔

chopc · 27/07/2019 18:51

For symmetry / aesthetics we thought we should have a door in the kitchen

soakedat3 · 27/07/2019 19:31

You've prob already discussed this @chopc but won't the French doors in the middle get in the way of the other two sets? Wonder if that one would work better as bifold or sliding? We have a similar thing with two sets opening out onto (hopefully) a patio area but the space is such that it works OK... But Scotland = doubt both will be open at same time much!

chopc · 27/07/2019 21:00

Yep they can all open at the same time

MyNameIsJane · 28/07/2019 06:06

@WBWIFE - did the kitchen arrive in its entirety yesterday? How many boxes?

We had 25 for one corner cabinet.

168 for the rest of the Ikea kitchen. Confused

We have virtually finished our bedroom. It currently looks very white and sterile! It was a very productive day, considering I had a hospital eye appointment in the middle of it.

Ok I am having a minor freak out. Those people who already have the Thread Fridge (that gorgeous Hisense one), what space have you put it in? I am worried that in my greed for the massive pantry, I’ve not left enough space for it 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

MyNameIsJane · 28/07/2019 08:20

I’m no help, Worrisome. I went off piste and got a bigger fridge freezer. Grin

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 28/07/2019 09:13

168 for the rest of the Ikea kitchen
This is what's worrying me... Where the heck can I store this for even a few days?

WorrisomeHeart · 28/07/2019 12:05

We had 141 for our Wickes delivery - it caused major consternation between the builders and the delivery guys trying to stack it all in a building site 🙄

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 28/07/2019 12:49

We will have about three quarters of a single garage, plus a bit of room in the dining room.

WhereDoesThisToiletGo · 28/07/2019 12:53

Week 1 down and we have hit our first problem which I hope BBB can SORT OUT on Monday.
We (us, surveyor and builder) were all so obsessed about what we do with the internal soil stack that none of them have mentioned what we do with the external downpipe that takes rainwater off one side of the main roof. Which at present runs through our potential family room.

minipie · 28/07/2019 13:58

Can’t the rain pipe be made to run along the roof of the new extension and then down the end of the extension into the garden? That’s what they’ve done with ours. I think they also had to extend the drainage further out into the garden so that there was something for it to drain into.
