Property on RightMove with all the photos featuring people

I like the house and I think they have gone for a lifestyle approach by featuring what is possibly the family in the photos, not looking at the camera but very obviously staged. Not sure it really gives me a feel of the house - I've not seen the approach before.

I feel it is beautiful but overpriced.

Thoughts?

I kind of like it but agree it's overpriced. Beautiful decor though

PlatypusPie · 13/07/2018 21:35

Lovely photography but once you look at the floor plan it’s just quite a nice semi.

blondeemily · 13/07/2018 21:35

Agree it's a beautiful house. I have no idea on prices in the area so can't comment on the price.
I like the pictures, they are lovely! But I think I'm with you, many of the photos aren't particularly helpful - more like they are for a photography project rather than to try and sell a property.

Neolara · 13/07/2018 21:35

So cheap! House like that would be at least £1.5 million round our way.

PirateMermaid · 13/07/2018 21:39

@Neolara I think it is expensive and know the area reasonably well! It is a lovely village and I've commuted into London from that station. I'd like to live in the village which is why I keep an eye on houses there; we lost out on one a few years ago but have been somewhat priced out since.

I do love the decor but that can be created anywhere to a certain extent.

I assume it’s being sold by the owners as it’s on with ‘Mr &Mrs Clarke’?

Honestly I think the whole things a little wanky, I hate phots of plants and shit like that, but then I really do just look at square footage, location and potential.
The house looks nice but the photos don’t show that much really so hard to tell? but no idea about price as don’t know the area.

The garden room/shed looks like it’s in the front garden and the floor plan shows you have to walk round the whole house to get to the stairs, which is a bit odd.

Overall I like the look of the house and would go to see it but I personally don’t feel the listing is great, but then no listing really tells the truth in my opinion...wide lenses I’m looking at you...

jgm · 13/07/2018 21:43

Beautiful photography but many of the photos seem irrelevant in terms of what the actual house looks like (reminds me of new build show home photos - selling the lifestyle). Not sure I like that 'Mrs Clarke loves the gorgeous kitchen' while 'Mr Clarke loves the quality of the property' either...

userofthiswebsite · 13/07/2018 21:44

The blue sofa is gorgeous! Where can I get me one of those?

user1484830599 · 13/07/2018 21:45

Mr & Mrs Clarke are an estate agency, @SockMatchmaker

I really hate how there are blurred close ups of everything, but hardly any of the actual rooms. I don't care if there is a dog on the sofa, show me the room!

GandalfsWrinklyHat · 13/07/2018 21:46

ikea stocksund sofa? I have the armchair in blue, it looks just like it. washable covers - AMAZING

dingit · 13/07/2018 21:48

I'm surprised they haven't got someone sitting on the bog Grin

Notmorewashing · 13/07/2018 21:48

Cringe.com very average house with nice decor

jgm · 13/07/2018 21:49

Where are the room sizes? That and floor plan are more important to me than photos...

SockMatchmaker · 13/07/2018 21:49

Oh christ really? It’s an agency that’s done the add?
Ok, I like it even less then, I was giving them some leeway thinking they were doing it themselves!
Still think the house might be nice mind.

SockMatchmaker · 13/07/2018 21:50

*ad.

SilentBob · 13/07/2018 21:51

"Somewhere to store your farrow and ball paint" made me roll my eyes.

I wouldn't have a clue what I would be buying looking at those photos. It's all a bit wanky for me.

2018SoFarSoGreat · 13/07/2018 21:51

I actually really like it. I'm surprised I'm saying that, but love the actual look - lived in (beds not made) and livable. Great price too - wish I could find something that price anywhere around here!

NicoAndTheNiners · 13/07/2018 21:54

I want photos of rooms, not closeups of lamps and sofas which won't be staying. Wanky. Com

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 13/07/2018 21:54

Wasn’t there one where the seller dressed as a panda and posed in every room? That was good Grin
I wonder did they ever actually sell the house after getting about 10 million views!

lifechangesforever · 13/07/2018 21:56

I don't think any of those pictures actually show you what your 700k buys you!

Looks more like an advert for a holiday let.

Arewehomeyet · 13/07/2018 21:57

Loathe to admit it but I love the photos! Totally selling the house to me, although not quite getting me past the fact it's a semi Grin

PirateMermaid · 13/07/2018 21:58

Now you've pointed out it is an agency I'm looking through their other listings. I hate how they describe houses and how Mr and Mrs Clarke give their opinions as a bullet point. It all feels very pretentious.

No other listings from the ones I've looked at featuring the owners, slightly more normal photography albeit still very lifestyle rather than property focused.

From some of the others:

Mrs Clarke says -- I am planning the weekend parties with friends already

Mr Clarke Loves - I like that I have my own private study and a village club to frequent.

Mr Clarke says-- The quality of the house is exceptional. It's located so near to town i can sneak off to my local and back without anyone realising i've gone - it's a done deal.

Ugh.

They're selling the lifestyle that goes with the house, or rather the desired lifestyle that goes with the house. I don't imagine for one second that Dad, kid 1 and kid 2 huddle around a recipe book in the kitchen.

I feel they've got their inspiration from Mr & Mrs Smith (hotel agents), and thought "that could work for houses". I'm not sure it does.

Arewehomeyet · 13/07/2018 22:04

@dropzoneone. I doubt they are the actual family. But if they are I'm sure they love baking, it just probably looks a bit more 'lived in' while they are doing it!

SporkInTheToaster · 13/07/2018 22:18

I assume it’s being sold by a ‘boutique’ agency. I would also assume that the stunt family are models, not the owners. We have a similar agency locally and they have a very similar style. Seems to work well. Properties sell very quickly with them. They tend to stick to niche, high end stuff, beautifully and artfully photographed (not always helpfully from a judging room size/layout/orientation point of view though).
