New house full of spiders HELP

IndieTara · 07/06/2018 21:53

Recently moved house and the new house is full of spiders.
I'm scared to death of spiders and I'm finding them everywhere. Everywhere.

I'm being brave and vacuuming them up as I go. ( don't hate me for vaccing them there are too many to catch under a glass and put outside plus I don't think I could do that anyway )

They're in cupboards, behind lights and tonight I found a big one in a saucepan!

I cant get into bed without checking and I'm sure there must be many more than the ones I've seen.

How can I stop them coming in and/or get rid of them?

I need help.

Torch the place.

Luc450 · 07/06/2018 21:57

Peppermint oil around the windows and doors to stop them coming in, apparently they don’t like it? Dilute some in a spray bottle and spray liberally.
Keep your windows shut as much as you can tolerate.
Hover the corners of the rooms at the ceilings to get rid of cobwebs

rollingonariver · 07/06/2018 21:58

My dad swears by conkers. I don't know if it actually works !

IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:00

I've hoovered all the corners, carpet edges, in the cupboards. Behind things. Everywhere I can think of

Aha sorry! He puts them by the front door and by the windows, apparently he read about it in the times and it's helped.

GladAllOver · 07/06/2018 22:02

Surely the best thing is to deal with your phobia of spiders. Then you won't have to worry again when they come back - as they will.
There are several effective treatments for spider phobia.
Because of the spiders there, the house will be free of harmful insects.

Runbikeswim · 07/06/2018 22:04

Eeek. Where do you live!!!???

spugymonster · 07/06/2018 22:10

Yeah conkers on windowsills is meant to work!

IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:14

Get a can of Indorex from your local vet. Worth every penny (about £18.)

IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:27

@theluggageslegs I have Indorex! Will that work!
Our cat died last year but I still have half a can left

OP posts:
IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:28

If I can find it in my pile of still unpacked boxes

Mum and great aunt absolutely swear by conkers too. They just have them dotted around windowsills.

IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:33

Am I right in thinking conkers are autumn things?
Cant wait that long.
I'm becoming paranoid!

CanIBuffalo · 07/06/2018 22:34

Dethlac. In a green can. One treatment lasts a few years.

ggirl · 07/06/2018 22:35

lolol @ Torch the place

IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:36

I feel like I'd like to torch it

ToffeeNosed · 07/06/2018 22:37

Is there an entry for them you've not found? I found by filling the floorboard cracks in our hall (coming up through crawl space below) has reduced numbers hugely and in my old house they were getting in through a hole that housed the dryer hose.
However, last week there was one on my pillow - I feel for you.

KellyAnderson · 07/06/2018 22:37

You should never kill a spider. Bad Karma! Make sure your chakras are aligned as this could be attracting unwanted souls into your home.

reddA · 07/06/2018 22:41

I second Indorex, get mine from amazon

IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:42

@ToffeeNosed I'm waiting for the one on the pillow. I already know there's a big one in my bedroom somewhere but can't find it.

I have to shake all clothes towels bedding etc before using or wearing

OP posts:
IndieTara · 07/06/2018 22:44

@CanIBuffalo I've just googled Dethlac it sounds as if it could be a solution.

I think I'm going to make it priorityto find my Indorex and also order some Dethlac

And keep everything crossed Sad
