Major tile regret!

Please let me know your good taste opinions.

I am having major tile regret and worried that the wall and floor tiles massively clash. The wall tiles are much more yellow toned when placed en masse next to the floor tiles and the ' busyness ' of the herringbone floor pattern seems too much with the grain of the wall tiles. In short I think it all clashes and I am worried as it's our children's bathroom I am going to be forever frustrated and disappointed with it.

I can't even go and visit because we live 5 hours away! I am considering having them replaced, which is obviously highly indulgent and over the top.

Be harsh, be kind, be honest, but please give me your opinions.

I think we need a picture to know what you're talking about. I also don't understand what you mean about living 5 hours away. From what? The tile shop? Or is the bathroom actually not in your house (in which case what do the people who actually live there think of it?) I assumed when you said it was your kids bathroom that it was for young kids in your house but if these are actually adults who live independently (but who you decorate for???) then it is surely up to them what they like.

It's a kids bathroom and once it's full of their crap stuff it'll tone it all down

I don't think you can judge colours from the photo, it might not be terribly colour accurate.

Did you buy samples before you chose the tiles? If not can you get some s t to you before you conclude that the colours clash? If you're still worried then a different wall colour would make it look less travertiney and draw attention away from any time colour difference e.g. mint green or a mid-toned greige.

I don't mind the herringbone with the large wall tiles. I think smaller wall tiles would look too busy.

The floor is lovely, but looks more grey toned. I don't like the wall tiles at all. The sizing is off along sith the colour

We are doing up in house in another part of the country. We will move in later this year. We do regular visits to check how various decisions looks, but the day to day build over sight is done by MIL. These tiles were a last minute change on mind decision.

The bathroom will our 'family' bathroom and used by our two kids ( baby & toddlers), so in there enough that it will potentially bother me.

Hopefully that clarifies! Thank you, keep the opinionsame coming.

We had samples and they seem to go nicely at the time. However, once they were put up on such a large scale they look so different and so yellow. They also seemed so much more grey prior to tiling.

I have had to pick the paint colours already too Hmm however this is probably something that I can consider changing. Any tips on shades that can tone down yellow grey to a more grey grey?

I don't think they really go together and I don't like the wall tiles at all but I wouldn't notice them if I was visiting and I honestly don't think you will notice them when the room is finished and full of towels and rubber ducks.

We just did out kitchen and bathrooms and I was demented with all the decisions and I was always second guessing myself but once it's done you stop noticing what colour your grout is.

I don't like the floor with the bath/wall tiles. Sorry. I could probably live with it though.

It's so hard isn't it! I constantly second guess my decisions and I particularly find tiles hard. Arghh!!!, I don't massively care about others opinions, but I just don't want to hate it everytime I walk in the bathroom.

I think it looks pretty stunning (although as PP said, hard to tell with colours on a computer screen).

By the time you have towels, mats, toys, toiletries, general child stuff in there you won't even notice.

Currently renovating & all these things seem so major but honestly when you are in living there & as others said when all the stuff is in there it won't be an issue at all.

I love the floor. It's gorgeous. I think the wall tiles clash with it though and if you have the budget to change them then I would... But that does seem completely mad!!

As a last option you could take up the floor tiles and put Amtico flooring down or similar

Alternatively buy a large bath mat and matching blind to take the attention away

By the time the floor is draped with wet towels, discarded clothes and other kid-related detritus it will look fine Wink

Actually following on from PolterGoose's point, it might break it up a bit if you didn't have the wall tiles on the bath. Could you get a new bath panel?
I was going to say I think the wall tiles are a bit too big in comparison with the lovely floor tiles. But I'm now thinking that having a plain white bath panel might sufficiently break it up.
I also agree that a good paint colour, blind/shutter, towel rail, towels, art work, bath mat etc will make all the difference

The floor tiles are nice, the wall tiles are too big, too dated and do clash. But, I really don't think I would bother to change it yet. By the time you have accessories in it would look a lot better. Maybe you could just replace the tiles around the bath? I think they look far too dated like that. The room is lovely though, I love the skylight.
