My house is so small there's no way they can take that long I hope! Arggg! I thought it was just a cursery thing to make sure he Josue wasn't going to fall down around their ears!

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 17/03/2016 19:30

I think it depends on what kind of survey they've paid for too. The cheapest survey will involve nothing more than the quickest of quick glances.

DS2 is ok. It's a very small fracture and he's 6 so it'll heal fast. Also he got loads of attention at school because at that age breaking bones is akin to celebrity status.

suffolkpunch85 · 17/03/2016 21:43

Our buyer is having a Home Buyers survey on our house next week. What do they do? Do I need to do anything before he visits envisages mad tidying

goldenlilliesdaffodillies · 18/03/2016 07:47

Suffolk- don't do what I did and frantically stuff things in cupboards. The surveyor looked in EVERY cupboard and photographed them- oh the shame! He turned on the all taps/showers. Checked all floorboards, roof, climbed up ladders to look on top of things and asked me lots of questions which I didn't know the answer to. He seemed concerned about where the sun sets and which direction the garden faced which seemed odd. Fortunately he said there were no major issues. Fortunately our builder had checked everything a couple of weeks before and we had repaired anything which could be a problem- right down to missing door knobs and light bulbs. Our cleaners appeared when he was there which apparently was a good sign too! Good luck- it is so nerve wracking

SayAGreatBigThankyou · 18/03/2016 10:46

Wow, that sounds thorough golden. Our cupboards are a hazard to open atm!

We are officially for sale as of last night (board, right move) and have 4 viewings booked today and tomorrow. Anxiously awaiting feedback from the first one.

Glad DS is ok step! My DD is a similar age and keeps asking when she can have a plaster cast Hmm

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 18/03/2016 10:49

Good luck Say.

DS has been to the hospital today to see the plastics team. He's got a thumb splint thing that he's to wear for 3 weeks or so. He seems quite pleased with it. He's got some lovely bruising coming up on his thumb.

Mummyme87 · 18/03/2016 15:48

We have a viewing tomorrow. I'm hoping the EA has informed him about no allocated parking. Staying positive without getting my hopes up

Rowgtfc72 · 18/03/2016 18:12

We completed at midday today.
I am that laid back I am horizontal, and am not ashamed to say this house selling lark has more than ruffled my feathers.
I wish you all good luck with your selling and buying!GrinWine

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 18/03/2016 18:14

Congratulations Row. Enjoy not having to worry about this crap any more!

Good luck with the viewing, mummyme.

lavendersun · 19/03/2016 07:43

Hello everyone, we have moved, phew! Now in a lovely rented farmhouse surrounded by boxes (209 'cartons' to be precise). When we got here I had to clean up after builders !!! Not what I was expecting after cleaning the house we have just left.

Our sale still seems to be rumbling along/going nowhere! I feel more relaxed about it now I have left though.

Mummyme87 · 19/03/2016 15:23

So we had two viewings this afternoon, I hate waiting for feedback. Monday seems a long way away

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 19/03/2016 17:16

Maybe you'll get offers instead of feedback, Mummyme. Grin

Enjoy the rented farmhouse, lavender.

Mummyme87 · 19/03/2016 17:37

So OH called the EA this afternoon as desperate to hear something. Really good feedback, one viewer said they needed to go and discuss monies and the other had another to view today but had viewed 9 already and ours topped the table by miles.. Try will call back +/- offers on Monday. Fingers crossed

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 19/03/2016 17:43

Grin enjoy the rest of the weekend.

listsandbudgets · 20/03/2016 13:20

Completing tomorrow.

Just went back and checked house over. We've moved out white goods which buyer wanted to keep until Friday when she suddenly announced she didn't just before we exchanged. Hopefully we'll get a few pounds for them on Gumtree towards curtains in our new place.

Now we've moved white goods despearately need to go and clean kitchen floor which was filtthy underneath them. Will do it tomorrow morning and then take keys to estate agents.

I love where we've moved to but I'll miss that house so much. It was the first house that was ever truely ours, first place dp and I lived properly together. We bought it with a damp problem, missing celilings and floors and all sorts of other issues but saw past all that and made it into a home we reaally loved. I just hope our buyer is as happy in it as we were. I suspect I'll have a little cry in the morning once I've handed over the keys :(

StepAwayFromTheThesaurus · 20/03/2016 17:27

That's lovely lists (well not the need to clean floors bit). It's nice to feel that you're selling somewhere you've loved. Hopefully your buyers will be as happy there.

LunaLovebad · 21/03/2016 14:38

I'm so utterly fucked off with this whole process. I am NEVER moving again.

Our buyers, having taken 8 weeks to get the survey booked in, are now saying that their solicitor is telling them to have a full gas and electric safety check done. Yet more delays. I'm trying not to take it personally but this solicitor of theirs is getting right on my wick, implying our house is less than perfect Halo. Has anyone else had this? I'm worried that they're going to pull all our electric sockets out and start digging out plaster and leave the house a bloody mess. I'm just so annoyed that they seem totally happy to just drag this on for ages with no regard for anyone else.

Angry

lists, I was so sad to leave our old house too. I kissed the front door goodbye. (Before remembering that I'd forgotten to pack the cat so had to go back in again feeling like a right prat).

JT05 · 21/03/2016 15:19

Luna gas and safety checks should be non invasive. Electricians and Gas Safe engineers have gadgets to check appliances/ sockets. Other than that they do a visible check.

This is quite normal and advisable if the vendor does not already have the certificates. A rewire or gas work would be costly to a new owner.

Hope it goes well.

SayAGreatBigThankyou · 21/03/2016 17:06

hello, just checking in. Good news is our house sold (via the excitement of sealed bids) this weekend, bad news is the house we want (and whole reason we are selling) is also under sealed bids. hoping to find out if we got it this afternoon.
If it doesn't pan out, at least we have a clean and tidy house now :D
Stressed.

LunaLovebad · 21/03/2016 17:25

But they do have them JT05! Their solicitor just seems to be uber suspicious. We've spent what seems like a fortune on plumbing, electrics and gas in this house and have given them all the paperwork to show it's been installed and checked properly. I don't mind them doing these checks, but I'm annoyed that they didn't ask us this 4 weeks ago. It just feels like we're never going to move.

listsandbudgets · 21/03/2016 17:44

We've completed.

Money gone to the bank against new mortgage so never saw a penny of it. Left buyer a bottle of prosseco and a card and even got round to cleaning kitchen floor this morning. There were 2 cars in the drive when I passed with the children on the school run earlier so that's that. Hope she's as happy there as we were :)

So relieved we're not moving today as well, already being moved is a relief.

LunaLovebad · 21/03/2016 17:55

Congratulations lists!

JT05 · 21/03/2016 18:09

Sorry Luna I missunderstood. We are waiting for our vendors to come up with the same info, hope it doesn't take as long. We got our survey done in less than a week so hopefully the info will come along soon.

JT05 · 21/03/2016 18:11

Congratulations lists , a good nights sleep for you all.😴

LunaLovebad · 21/03/2016 19:17

No worries JT05, I should have explained that bit Blush
