What colour is your hall/stairs/landing?

Ours is currently a horrible yellow.

Half papered & half painted.

It's getting decorated at the end of March.

It needs to be a light colour. One colour under the dado & another at the top.

Just wondering what colour to paint it. I don't like blue. Don't really want green either.

I'm just afraid I will end up with boring shades of beige!

emwithme · 27/02/2015 22:48

Dulux natural calico. Boring but not magnolia.

Have just changed ours from previous owners 2 shades of yellow to black below dado, creamy off white above with brilliant white woodwork. It looks very chic and surprisingly much lighter than it previously was, I was worried as downstairs is quite dark as there are no windows but it looks great. I think it helps that it's a Victorian house so the proportions of wall above 2/3rds means that the dark paint >1/3rd doesn't overwhelm the wall just grounds it. I saw something similar on F&B website with a dark plum colour that worked well too if black is too scary.

Lots of ideas here, thank you. It's quite a large space. It's a 70's house.
Not very light though.

I love purple, but sadly wouldn't suit that space.

Do you need the dado?

TallboyMcChesty · 27/02/2015 22:58

Farrow and Ball Tallow mixed in Dulux Diamond Matt. Love it.

NotLoveActually · 27/02/2015 23:01

Extreme clean sparkling white, and the one wall a dark-ish grey colour. nicer than it sounds!!

rationaloptimist123 · 27/02/2015 23:02

STRICTLY Farrow & Ball Clunch in this house

Smug

rationaloptimist123 · 27/02/2015 23:02

That was irony btw

Ihatemytoes · 27/02/2015 23:03

Dulux Porcelain Doll. A lovely soft grey

WireCat · 27/02/2015 23:04

We don't need the dado but it's lots of work to remove it. Plus I think it will be nice to have 2 colour shades.

Sometimes it looks white and gold, sometimes it looks blue and black!

But in reality it's F&B amonite but in Johnstones paint

Elephants Breath from F&B

WireCat · 27/02/2015 23:21

Ha ha bawbag

Kids at school kept shoving their phones in my face today asking me what colour the dress was. Thought it was something to do with their prom, which is more important that their GCSEs Hmm

We have Crown Wheatgrass above the dado and F&B Oxford Stone below.

Kitsmummy · 28/02/2015 07:45

F&B Purbeck Stone (being painted tomorrow) but it will be darker than you're looking for

TeacupDrama · 28/02/2015 08:14

Unfortunately previous owners painted all the wood chip a lovely hideous shade of deep olive. Goes beautifully with deep Victorian cornicing Shock

Madamecastafiore · 28/02/2015 08:16

Mouses back so no good for you.

peggyundercrackers · 28/02/2015 08:29

F&B borrowed light tbh the colour on their web site is nothing like it in real life...
