What colour is your hall/stairs/landing?

Ours is currently a horrible yellow.

Half papered & half painted.

It's getting decorated at the end of March.

It needs to be a light colour. One colour under the dado & another at the top.

Just wondering what colour to paint it. I don't like blue. Don't really want green either.

I'm just afraid I will end up with boring shades of beige!

oh god I 've just read you don't like blue and it has to be a light colour!

But, actually, I don't think you always need light colours when you think you do. As long as the hall is wide and tall it can take a proper colour.

My neighbours have white at the top and shocking pink (matt) at the bottom. No dado or anything, just two blocks of colour. It is wonderful.

should hallway be lighter than the rooms it is leading to or darker?

WireCat · 13/03/2015 23:01

Yeah going for a coffee shade on the bottom & a cream shade on the top.
Thanks all

Personally I like a yellowy cream. Nice and cheery

Dulux Jasmine White. Love it.

You will all be relieved to know I have decided.

Dulux cookie dough on the bottom & Dulux elderflower tea on top.

Dulux Natural Wicker

Just had it painted. Hall faces north east and it is lovely and warm. Much nicer than the Almond White it was previously.

It looks great Op.

We painted our bannister white (colour match to f&b wimbourne white) and walls colour match f&b vert de terre. It looks green on the tin but is is so pale and really changes with the light. Our floor is just cheap laminate.

Yellow, but a beautiful sunny yellow. Most of the woodwork and panelling on the bottom half is white, but I've not finished it, yet. It's been 3/4 done for about 2 years!

VolumniaDedlock · 04/05/2015 16:48

jasmine white - it's too white TBH. I should have gone with almond white as it's warmer. it's a dark space (v. small victorian semi) so needs a pale colour.

Ivory with black fingerprints :)

Pure brilliant white.

On purpose. Not a hugely bright part of the house and 3 storeys tall so PWB makes the most of all light that comes in.
