I can't see if there is already a thread like this so here goes..

We finally upped our offer enough for it to be accepted on our dream house. It's been stressful so far and this is just the beginning. We have had so many let downs: vendor changing mind, vendor getting higher offer etc and we hope this sale goes through smoothly. We've been looking for years. Come and join me if you're buying and equally stressed....

Bog Yay, that's fantastic news!

I just picked up the keys, so the whole process is honest to goodness finished for us. Drove straight down and inspected everything together with the doglet - she was looking a bit dubious, and I am not pleased by the huge spider carcasses everywhere but other than that I can't wait to get the paintbrush out and make this house ours!

Good luck to everyone still stuck in the buying process and I hope it goes smoothly for you!

Hang on in there old woman - surely just a little more pain/stress and you'll be there.

5am - jealous of your delivery slot! wish I'd thought of that, although we might not have a house at Christmas! - might be staying with family whilst we have our new one re-wired.

All seems to be OK with our house, tentatively discussing moving around 12-13th Dec. It's our vendor who is the slow link as I don't think she has any urgency whilst the other 3 parties in our chain want to get moved ASAP!!

Toffi · 01/11/2013 19:31

wow what a week we've had managed to get word that the first "special" buyer had def pulled out, then managed to find another buyer within 3 days after negotiating prices throughout the whole chain so our new FTB buyers could afford to buy our house and everyone in the chain even agreed to lose a £1,000 each to keep the chain intact/on track again, then the next day the new FTB buyers decided to pull out wtf totally back to square 1 on the monopoly board!!!!! how totally frustrating i'm half tempted to just pull my house off the market altogether and stay put, but my DP has said to give it one last chance good god he has far more patience with this situation than i have, i just want to go out & get blindly drunk atm, yuk what a mess!!! seems we've lost 2 buyers in 2 weeks due to no fault of our own grrrrr stressed!!!!!

on a better note i am glad to hear the good news.... Oldwoman my fingers are crossed for you, Bludge thats fantastic news!!! Pigley omg that sounds like a stressful time, now i've heard of knocking some money off for certain repairs or repair minor repairs but not expecting the seller to actually take a roof off and repair, or even to replace radiators your selling the house not the decor in small print it usually says that stuff isn't guaranteed as fully working ie cookers, showers, radiators etc etc sounds like someones trying some funny stuff if your gonna replace them then look out for some second hand (in good state) radiators or knock a few hundred off the price personally they are items i would look at replacing once in a property i dont think i would ever dream of asking a seller to replace them for me i'd find that far too cheeky!!!!

goodluck with it everything everyone xxxx

Oh Toffi, how awful for you. Third time lucky - you'll get the right buyers next time x
Bog - unbelievable! Hang on in there
5am - you're so organised with your delivery slot!
Congratulations Bee - enjoy
Heard from my vendor today. His sale has fallen through, but he is going to continue with our sale. Hoping it will go ahead over next few weeks.

Gingersnap88 · 03/11/2013 08:43

Hello everyone, can I join in?

toffi that's awful :( I really hope that you get some good luck soon!

We've just had an offer accepted on our first house, I should be happy (as love the house) but am terrified something will go wrong! Currently waiting for some money to come in from a foreign bank account to complete the sale- worried this will be delayed or similar. Eeek.

SweetCicely · 03/11/2013 18:07

Hi! Can I join in too? We've got a second viewing on a Victorian terrace with lots of potential. Bit daunting as we've only lived in new builds and it needs a lot of (cosmetic) work. First time buyers too!

Really worried we'll put in an offer and get turned down for a mortgagemortgage as well... We've got an AIP but lots of complicating factors (fixed term contract, probationary period, etc.) so very anxious! Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

HearMyRoar · 04/11/2013 12:16

Toffi that just sounds so bloody frustrating. I have to admit that I am already dreading moving again once we have a house to sell as well as buying. I have rented for ever so just buying seems ridiculously complicated to me. I just don't get how anyone ever manages to do both at the same time!

Welcome Ginger and Sweet.

We have done all the paperwork for the mortgage and are about to send the stuff back to get the solicitors started on the ID check and searches.

Found out from the EA that they had received a higher offer but turned it down in our favour as they wanted the quickest easiest option. I figure that means they are unlikely to pull out on us and start again with someone else but it does put the pressure on not to delay anything. I have also noticed that the vendor is his own solicitor. I am hoping this means he is actually a solicitor and knows what he is doing and not just trying to save himself a few quid but doing it himself Confused

Hi All. God things are up and down aren't they? For everyone.
Bog-any news? Hope it is good.
Toffi, that's so frustrating. But hopefully as others said it will be third time lucky.
Hi to everyone else.
We have eventually had the survey done on our current house. I was brave and asked the chap the results and he said all was ok , nothing to worry about. Phew! And last week we also got the First paper work back from vendors. Now the searches can begin and our sol can discuss the drains.
I really feel as if we have wasted the last four weeks due to the vendors -ea/sol not being upfront about the probate they were waiting for.
So still at least four weeks away from exchange. And there was me thinking this would all be so straight forward Hmm

Haven`t been on for a while as the wheels have been moving really slowly and have been waiting for their surveyor, 3 weeks, now over two weeks for confirmation of their mortgage. We were told it would be early last week, nothing, then end of the week and then on Thursday they said their mortgage brooker had said there had been a backlog of applications and would def hear on Monday. Absolutely nothing!

Not looking good is it? we should have been moved in by now Sad feel like having a little cry tbh.

oolaroola · 04/11/2013 16:53

Congratulations Bog! And....relax.

Congratulations Bog - fantastic news.
Survey done this morning, so watch this space!!

OneStepCloser · 05/11/2013 14:31

Thanks Bog, everythings ready to go, its just that theyve been promising the outcome of the mortgage offer almost everyday for the last week and a half, its been three weeks since they put in for their mortgage, (weve been told it was accidently put on hold, they thought more information was needed but wasn`t, big backlog, definately be here my Monday at the latest, its been something every day,)

I have a horrible feeling about it. Have called estate agents and solicitor this morning to chase as before its been emails between the buyers and us and I think no it would be best to leave it to the professionals! The exchange of contracts is ready to go now, we`re all just waiting on this.

Lunatic, has this been happening since September? Us too, thought we would be moved by now!

WillieWaggledagger · 05/11/2013 14:54

congratulations bog! i'm sure you needed a stiff drink after that.

it's funny how nothing can happen for aaaaaaaages then suddenly it all goes through quickly. fingers crossed that happens for everyone soon
