I can't see if there is already a thread like this so here goes..

We finally upped our offer enough for it to be accepted on our dream house. It's been stressful so far and this is just the beginning. We have had so many let downs: vendor changing mind, vendor getting higher offer etc and we hope this sale goes through smoothly. We've been looking for years. Come and join me if you're buying and equally stressed....

Thanks for the encouraging words Willie and Bog Smile

Hello only posted on the thread a couple of times but need a moan too! We saw a house and sold our house at the end of Aug but we still haven't moved and now looking like start of December!

It is only a short chain involving 4 houses but the top of the chain who don't even live in the house they are selling have said they want the Dec date when everyone else wanted earlier. Is there any way we can put pressure on them? I doubt there is but feel so cross.

Don't want to buy Xmas presses as will have to take them all with us but won't have time later.

Add to this EAs and solicitors who do 't get back to me so feeling pretty fed up.

Any advice?

OneStepCloser · 05/11/2013 16:09

Lagoon, I have resorted to Wine to all problems Grin

I have no constructive advice apart from the old keep on at solicitors and EA as much as possible, from our last purchase I remember having to jolly our solicitor every day, can your solicitor try and pressure the vendors a little? Its such a nightmare.

Update, apparantely mortgage offer should be withing 24hours yes yes we`ve being hearing that for the last week and a half shall wait again and see.

pigleychez · 05/11/2013 17:55

Toffi- Def 3rd time lucky!

Gingersnaps and sweet- Welcome to the rollercoaster of house moving!

Bog- Fab news! How exciting! Def a drink (or 3) to celebrate! :)

One step-How frustrating. I did something about surveyors being busy now due to the latest lower deposit mortgages.

Thinking about xmas is really hard isnt it. My mum keeps buggin us about where we will be eating xmas day. Ive no idea where i'll be living let alone eating!
Im trying to be organised in case we move close to xmas and have 90% of the girls (and nieces/nephews) all wrapped and packed in a box ready so at least they are sorted and Santa can come :) Adults can just have vouchers or money!

Well we are super busy trying to get the bits done that were requested by the buyers. The revised list that is!!
The boiler was serviced today and the electrician is coming to safety check us in the morning. The roof repairs aare being done Monday. The roofer thought it odd they pick up on the few tiles as they really arent an issue. Cost us more than we anticipated (£500) as it need scaffolding. :( But at least its getting sorted and wont delay us anymore.
Also been getting a few removal quotes this week so we are ready to go when we exchange. Embarrasingly both of them so far have commented on how much stuff we have!Blush

All of these recent posts sound VERY familiar.
We had our offer accepted and accepted on our place start of sept. cash buyers for our place we are moving to an empty house. So , in theory the most simple transaction ever?????
Our buyers only had the survey done on 1nov, the same day as our vendors sent the first paperwork. So really feel as if we have wasted the last four or more weeks waiting for them. But at least now we can get the searches done etc. but like everyone else I'm now thinking "will we be in before Xmas???" We were hoping for second week of nov ....how silly we wereWinkWink

123rd · 05/11/2013 18:17

Pigley, will you complain to the sol-after the move obv Wink about those things that were mentioned on the survey?

cogitosum · 05/11/2013 18:26

Have just seen this thread!

We put offer on house and was accepted in March when I was about 20 weeks pregnant. No chain either side so expected to move before the baby came.

to cut a long story short there was a boundary issue that the land registry and various solicitors are taking ages to sort out.

DS was born in July and we were told August.. we actually told them we may want to hold off til September as things were obviously very hectic with first baby a few weeks old. IN august we also gave 2 months notice on our rental house as we were told it would be any day.

So we are now living with my parents and have been for three weeks... the new house was down the road from our rented house and we've had to move everything an hour's drive away just to move it back... Even more frustrating is seeing the house empty and we can't move in!

My parents are great and I am so grateful to them but I just want it to be DS, DH and I again so we can get back into our routine. Also I have to keep going back to our town for postnatal groups, dr etc and just to see friends which takes an hour plus and costs about £10 each day (I don;'t drive so having to get the train most days). We keep being told it'll be any day.. even to the point of signing everything to exchange and paying the 10% to the solicitor (this was 3 weeks ago now)

AARGH!

123rd · 05/11/2013 19:10

Oh crikey cog. That's really ridiculous isn't it? That's a long time to wait. And with a little one too.
Hope you get in v soon. Must be hard moving back in with parents not matter how lovely they are !

hey everyone hope your all coping with the general stresses of the delightful housing market. Me, well after getting absolutely sloshed the weekend and de-stressing so to speak i was talked into giving the house a lil longer i think i was a lil drunk at the time of agreement but a solid arguement was given that as it had only been 8 weeks in total and out of those 8 weeks the house has actually only been available for sale 3 days due to it being SSTC x2 and pulled off market much of the time, so i caved in to the idea of viewings again, making sure the house is spik span, smelling wonderful and kicking the dog out with hubby etc etc so we will give it a lil longer, oh and then with the heavy rains i seem to now have a leak in the roof but its ok my roofer is coming over to sort it next week grrr why do these things always have to time themselves so badly??? well the EA's haven't even taken the SSTC sign off the listing and house adverts yet which i didnt mind atm because gives me time to sort the leaky roof but then i had a courier come round to deliver a letter from the solicitors, the courier asked if he could be cheeky and enquire about whether the house was still up for sale or not as he'd seen it listed last week and really liked it i told him it was still available and haha i have a viewing again tomorrow hows that for timing (oh god let this be the one other wise i'm afraid the country may just well b drank dry and run out of alcohol) and while were pleading pls pls pls roof... just dont leak for the viewing tomorrow :)

Bog - thats absolutely fantastic will raise a glass on my next destressing mission to celebrate your new home for you!!!

for the rest of you chin up and i'll try not to drink the country dry!!!

hanette · 06/11/2013 14:48

hello all I just joined the thread as I've just accepted an offer on my place

After reading some of the posts here I am dreading the buying next bit!

There are 3 roads I would ideally like to buy in, properties only come up every do often. I was considering leafleting them as a private buyer asking if anyone would be interested in a private sale to me

Anyone else done anything similar? Good/bad idea?

WillieWaggledagger · 06/11/2013 15:30

why not hanette? what have you got to lose? go for it!

have just heard from our solicitor - we may be exchanging this week or early next

hanette · 06/11/2013 16:03

Thanks Willie

yes and it'll take me back to happy memories of delivering the Stockport Pictorial as a teenager!

Congratulations re: the exchange! Have you a celebration planned?

HearMyRoar · 06/11/2013 16:37

We officially have our first house buying crisis!

The mortgage advisor wrote down the wrong amount for childcare when doing the affordability checking and has now realised his mistake and that our childcare Costs are about 3 times what he told the bank. Now he is worried that they will turn us down for the mortgage. Bloody bugger!

oolaroola · 06/11/2013 16:49

Hi all, we had our valuation survey yesterday. Does anyone have any experience about how long it takes to hear whether its all ok?
Feeling nervous.
Hope everyone else is hanging on in there.
Wine sounds like an idea for this eve.

hanette · 06/11/2013 16:50

can't you tell him he didn't make a mistake Hear?

hanette · 06/11/2013 16:51

Well about 6 months ago a buyer for my place (they pulled out in the end) had the valuation done and had the report the very next day so hope you hear quickly oola

pigleychez · 06/11/2013 16:56

Toffi- Fingers crossed for your viewing! :)

Hanette- Welcome on board.

Willie- Great news.. fingers crossed for you.

Roar- Hope it can be changed and still goes through ok.

Having a very stressful day here today.
Scoffolding has gone up today for the roof repairs. Took hours and the access isnt great and was quite tricky. Roof might be being done tomorrow now.
The electrician came to check out the ancient fuse box. The report cost us £120 and we now need a whole new fuses box and other bits doing so all in all will end up costing us about £1000! Really not impressed. So frustrating when we wont be the ones getting the benefit of it. They are returning sat to do the repairs which has messed up our plans for the day. Had planned to return to the new house to look around (which is over an hours drive away). Nothing major but its just annoying having lots of different tradesmen coming and going all the time and time consuming too.
Getting to me abit today and feeling abit fed up with it all.
Got slightly excited this morning when our solicitor said our buyers had put forward possible completion date of 6th Dec. Back to being deflated though when our vendors solicitors replies with, we are not in a position to be discussing dates yet. :( No idea how far off either.

Chippy takeaway for dinner and lots of wine once the girls are in bed!

oolaroola · 06/11/2013 17:39

Chippy takeaway very good idea. Just do that soon.

oolaroola · 06/11/2013 17:39

Must, not just!

pigleychez · 06/11/2013 17:50

oola- Xposts with you. We got our valuation report back within a few days so you should hear back soon :)

123rd · 06/11/2013 18:14

Oola, we had ours done on a Monday and recd the paper copy on the weds. Also we had the survey done on our current place last week and the chap said nation wide have a three day turn around to get reports back to clients.

hanette · 06/11/2013 20:17

Toffi how did your viewing go?
