I can't see if there is already a thread like this so here goes..

We finally upped our offer enough for it to be accepted on our dream house. It's been stressful so far and this is just the beginning. We have had so many let downs: vendor changing mind, vendor getting higher offer etc and we hope this sale goes through smoothly. We've been looking for years. Come and join me if you're buying and equally stressed....

Eek we are due to move on Tuesday and my husband we t to see vendor to check out alarm system etc and he's only gone and given us keys :-) the place is empty as they have moved already .

50shadesofmeh · 11/09/2013 15:08

Not planning to move anything yet as I'm quite superstitious and estate agent is very disapproving but makes it all seem so real.

AndWhenYouGetThere · 11/09/2013 15:47

Oh wow 50 shades - that's mad. I'd probably be cautious too. Don't want to risk anything now you are so close!

My valuation survey is in and mortgage company say I'll get an offer in 72 hours. Then the pressure's on the solicitor to get in before my notice is up on Oct 1st.

50shadesofmeh · 11/09/2013 15:54

Yeah not sure what to do , guess I'll go up and measure for blinds and carpets :-)

Ooh 50, how exciting!

I'm feeling completely miserable this afternoon. We saw a perfect house, absolutely loved it and offered asking price. It went to best and final offers with a deadline this morning. We knew we wouldn't get it unless we could get an offer on ours, but we have a couple of people considering offering so we held off until the last minute hoping we could get an offer before we put our bid in...but nothing, so we lost it to someone more proceedable :(

Then this afternoon I got feedback from someone who viewed ours last night, saying she might offer asking price but is concerned that we haven't bought yet as she needs to move quickly. We can't bloody buy anything until someone buys ours (market where we're buying is crazy and you've got no chance until you're proceedable). If she had just offered this morning we could have got our dream house :( So fed up with it all.

Hurray we got our offer accepted! Today we are celebrating and tomorrow I start bighting my finger nails with the rest of you trying to see it through.

Hefner I am so sorry you lost out. If it happens again, you might want to get your estate agents working harder telling potential buyers that you are looking to offer on a property which would mean the chain would be able to move if they put an offer in sooner.

hefner · 11/09/2013 20:31

Thanks for the sympathy. I've calmed down and cheered up now! We got an offer on our house, too low but it's a good start. If only it had come in this morning!

Congratulations 5am! Hope it all goes through smoothly.

50shadesofmeh · 11/09/2013 22:13

Congrats 5am!
Went up to check out house , it's empty and spotlessly clean , needs a bit more than we thought decor wise but we are able to move in no problems. Very exciting indeed its absolutely massive compared to the 2 bedroom we are leaving.
Measured windows for new blinds I need to order.

Sympathy to you Hefner I hope something even more fabulous comes along, your house is out there somewhere .

Purpletoes · 12/09/2013 07:33

5am congratulations that's great. Grin

50 how exciting for you. The end is in sight. GrinGrin

Hefner great that you got an offer albeit low but it is a start.

We finished the latest batch of paperwork last night. I swear it is just multiplying every day! Wink

WorrisomeHeart · 12/09/2013 08:46

5am that's brilliant, you must be so pleased!

Hefner - how infuriating re losing the house - it is such a catch 22 in some areas (ours as well)

Well update from me - finally got in to see the probate house on Tues night (in the semi darkness and with barely any lights working!). The agent had only got approval to market at 3pm, we were in at 7pm and made an offer of £5k under the asking price. We're going back to see it in daylight on Friday but felt we had to put our marker down. And then yesterday, the other agent (it's being dual marketed) sent out a hurried email about an open evening they were running at the house last night, mentioning our offer! I wasn't expecting things to move quite so quickly but I wonder if the seller has told agent 2 they need to stump up their buyers ASAP. Am gingerly waiting for a call today - we're not prepared to increase our offer as it needs a lot of work but it is a great house in the perfect location. Onto downside is that it backs onto school playing fields and I can't decide if that's too much of a negative or not.
Ack, so wish we were about 3 months in the future and it was all (hopefully!) resolved!!

50shadesofmeh · 12/09/2013 09:44

Good luck worrisome

hefner · 12/09/2013 14:51

Good luck worrisome. The school fields wouldn't bother me.

Turnipinatutu · 12/09/2013 15:44

Fingers crossed for you Worrisome, I wouldn't worry about school playing fields either....

Hi can I join you all in stress?. Have had my offer accepted and accepted an offer on mine. Survey on house I want has been done and is fine and my buyers are having survey next week. Have filled in fitting and fixture forms. What happens next?. My children are really excited but I am very anxious as never bought a house on my own before and know it can still all go wrong. At what point are things likely to be ok or is that not until I have the keys?

Hi. Yes finances sorted and solicitor instructed. Just seems such a long time to wait but I guess solicitors have to do their stuff! Really really wanted to be in by Christmas and that isn't far away now, so looks less likely. Don't like this feeling that it can go wrong anytime!

50shadesofmeh · 13/09/2013 18:04

Mission our offer was accepted and we accepted offer on ours the 26th of July and my moving day is on Tuesday , we had first time buyer buying ours and house we bought was empty already and we got our mortgage offer in 4 days, so I think that was quick .

WorrisomeHeart · 13/09/2013 20:07

mission Xmas is still achievable for a normal sale process - have you mentioned to your solicitor that you want to be in by then? Might be worth raising it so everyone is on the same page.

Well, back to see the house in the daylight = offer retracted. It just needs too much work and the third bedroom would need taking back to the brick work to lose the cigarette stench. The noise from the school wasn't too bad but we've decided to cut our losses and walk away.

So now I need all these people who've been waiting for the schools to go back before they put their houses up for sale to get a move on!!

hefner · 13/09/2013 21:19

Congrats on finding houses Osmi and Mission, I hope the process doesn't drag on too long.

Worrisome, that sounds disappointing. I agree that people need to hurry up and put their nice houses on the market!
