Surveyor coming out on Thursday. Getting excited. Really hope it sells quick.

underthemountain · 28/08/2013 20:40

Worried about winter coming and our best bit (garden) disintegrating! Got a note of interest (Scotland) but nothing more yet. Wish I could tell if the note will become an offer. About eight weeks in, nine viewings, no fingernails left.

yourcruisedirector · 29/08/2013 13:24

found you again! I've broken my phone so am hopelessly out of the loop with everything.

Great to hear things are really starting to work out for lots of you!

We have a buyer now and that's all ticking along as far as I know Confused - they don't appear to be in a rush despite their initial claims.

We are supposed to complete tomorrow but I've just had a note from our mortgage provider that they have been instructed to release the funds on Sept 2nd - WTAF?!!! - we're still working on tomorrow!!! This is not as bad for us as for some (since we still have our old house) but obviously everything is planned and booked around completing tomorrow. I'm actually almost hyperventilating with rage at the moment. I'm expecting a call from the solicitor when she gets back from lunch. I'm blaming the mortgage provider for now. They have been absolutely shocking from the start Angry

FCEK · 29/08/2013 14:48

Surveyors been so now we wait for valuation etc. I'm now panicking it'll be valued too low or something Hmm

underthemountain · 30/08/2013 15:16

No progress here. No offers yet. Future uncertainty really getting to me!!

underthemountain · 30/08/2013 16:49

Got another viewing for the weekend, could be the one!

Turnipinatutu · 30/08/2013 17:21

Booked 4 viewings for tomorrow. I'm not hopeful that any will be that suitable, but need to at least try and find something.....

Manchesterhistorygirl · 30/08/2013 17:25

Hopefully going on the rental market in next couple of weeks and we'll be out of here by the end of September, month in limbo (caravan at parents) and we move in end of October!

yourcruisedirector · 30/08/2013 19:01

We're in! At least, we completed and have keys to our new house - we're moving over the next week or two.

Had a gorgeous day - flung the windows open, aired the house, cleaned like mad people (it's filthy), started decorating... It's going to be lovely!

Turnipinatutu · 30/08/2013 19:04

Congrats Yourcruised. How lovely to able to clean/decorate and move in gradually. Enjoy your lovely new home.

yourcruisedirector · 30/08/2013 21:44

thanks turnip - we've been really lucky. Still haven't exchanged on our sale which is a worry but if it works out I'll consider myself very lucky with timing.

FCEK · 30/08/2013 22:20

valuation done and its lower than what I had expected :( I'm really annoyed as the house round the corner from me which is up for sale, doesn't have a conservatory (we do) and its been valued higher!

DH has pointed out that they are selling at the valuation and its been on the market for ages therefore people seem to think its overpriced. He therefore thinks our valuation is a more realistic valuation but I'm now scared we'll get offers much lower than we want (we'd like to get our money back at least, especially as the types of houses we want to buy require a decent deposit!)

First time seller and its being so stressful so far!

House should be on the market on Monday. My DF thinks we should go in at Fixed Price or offers in excess of the valuation. Does this sound okay (we're in Scotland!)

SquinkiesRule · 31/08/2013 01:07

We are done, money arrived in my bank, we are now lodgers in the house for a few days while we get ready to fly home to UK. New owner has been by and planted some trees and left all kinds of plats so I've been watering them for her, she can't move in till next saturday when she has friends with muscles to help her. So we'll be out by Thursday.

enjoyingscience · 31/08/2013 10:15

Ongoing saga of our buyer continues. House going back on the market on Tuesday if he hasn't got a survey booked in (though he has apparently paid for one already? I wish I understood this!) and it looks likely we'll lose the house we're trying to buy when they find out. I can't see how giving him a deadline that like will help, as it's not under his control as far as I can tell.

We're devastated, as we love the house we're trying to buy, and have already paid £800 we're not going to be able to recoup if they reject us. Despite saying they weren't in a rush when we offered, they are apparently desperate to move asap now. Getting the house back in a state for viewings now :(

Turnipinatutu · 01/09/2013 11:07

So sorry Enjoying, that really sucks.
Fingers crossed you find a new buyer quickly and all will pan out well.
Did it take long till the current buyer came along?

yourcruisedirector · 02/09/2013 09:35

sorry enjoying, that sounds really stressful. I hope your buyer pulls his finger out and gets on with things!

We're a bit worried about our buyer - she cancelled her measuring up viewing but has rebooked for later this week. We haven't heard anything about a valuation or survey, and with the new house to clean up we don't have much time for chasing solicitors etc. I'm going to arrange to be in when the buyer visits so I can chat to her in person.

PastaBeeandCheese · 02/09/2013 09:58

So sorry enjoyingscience that's rubbish.

FCEK I was a bit like that with our valuations because I'd seen what houses in the street were up for sale at. Your DH is right though.... They will never achieve that price so will either drop massively or simply have to stay there if set on that price.

I think it does you a favour if a neighbour is unrealistic. It makes your house look like a bargain. We've done OIEO in England and got £5,000 more that the base price which was really what we would have been happy with so it worked well for us. Also i think it's much rarer to do this in England so even more likely to do well in Scotland?

Our buyers had their survey done and all is well. Waiting for survey on our new house to be done now. Keeping my fingers crossed.

FCEK · 02/09/2013 22:50

house isn't on the market yet. EA hasn't finished the schedule. It was supposed to be live on right move etc today but not yet. rather annoyed feeling!

enjoyingscience · 03/09/2013 10:19

Last minute save from the buyer - he's finally booked a survey! They're comning next week. Our vendors are still in a huff, but at least things are moving so they aren't pulling out now.

So relieved I actually cried!

I think I'm going to hand over all stressful situations to DP now - it must be his turn?!

Turnipinatutu · 03/09/2013 18:34

Phew! Fingers crossed all goes smoothly from now on Smile

FCEK · 03/09/2013 21:58

woooo our for sale sign is up and it goes on right move tomorrow. Now we wait and people will come.

at least I hope they will

yourcruisedirector · 04/09/2013 17:00

Glad to hear it science! Fx it's all easy from hereon in :D

yourcruisedirector · 04/09/2013 17:02

And FCEK hope you get some viewings quickly!

yourcruisedirector · 04/09/2013 17:05

Our buyers are here to measure up and they are SO YOUNG! Make me feel about a million years old (I'm 29 :D )

And in fact one of them works where I used to work when we first moved here - they seem like they belong here :)

Hopefully they'll agree to offer some cash for lots of things we're happy to sell... Could really do with the money after accepting such a low offer!

TillySwat · 05/09/2013 10:31

Hello can I join you. We found out yesterday the sale of our house has fallen through, we think due to some survey issues but the ex-buyer is being thoroughly unhelpful by refusing to share any info..... we are in a very difficult position though as have moved into rented in order for my DD to start school this week... so costs are mounting and we are broke!
Any advice for us would be very much appreciated. We are dropping price from 165 to 160 and just praying it will go quickly..... :(
