Hi have name changed as don't want to be outed but I am hoping for the wisdom of Mumsnet. We have just gone on the market and I was hoping some lovely MNetters might do a critique so we can pre empt any buyers concerns as it were. Fresh eyes are always helpful as are all opinions.

TIA

looks lovely, I would put some colourful pots of flowers outside, just to cheer it up and give some more kerb appeal.

Relaxedandhappyperson · 04/06/2013 18:27

Is this a not so stealth stealth boast?

It's lovely. Only thing I DISLIKE is the spiral staircase and I dislike them in general.

Vendoress · 04/06/2013 18:28

Not meaning to stealth boast! Like the pots idea but fear they may get stolen borrowed!

It's lovely.

Is the price comparable to others in the road?

GrangeMouth · 04/06/2013 18:30

It looks lovely! My only query would be why there aren't more pictures of the other bedrooms or more of the back garden but as the rest of the house is in really good condition with good proportions it wouldn't overly bother me.

PoppyWearer · 04/06/2013 18:30

Really lovely! You've done an excellent job.

Where did you get your cocktail trolley/table thing? I want one!

OnTheNingNangNong · 04/06/2013 18:32

I agree re the spiral staircase, it is a very lovely house though. Smile

Bowlersarm · 04/06/2013 18:33

Where does the spiral staircase go to?

Vendoress · 04/06/2013 18:34

Poppy- found it at an antiques warehouse place in crystal palace.
Grange- I will ask agents and see what the other pics are like.
Bowlers- price is tricky as road has lots of diff types of houses. We went for the lower estimates from the agents. Also some houses in road completely untouched for fifty years and others are bing restored.

Spiral staircase goes to the loft! Was there when we bought the house but painted in gold and maroon!

Envy

I think a spiral staircase to the loft is fab! Here, have another Envy

Bowlersarm · 04/06/2013 18:42

I would say then, that if the price is about right you can't improve it a lot.

I don't mean to be to flattering Smile but...I think it's got both character, and is neutrally decorated and furnished enough for anyone to envisage themselves living there.

Good luck.

Barbabeau · 04/06/2013 18:42

The house is absolutely gorgeous and the pictures are well chosen.

I know that general area and it is the particular location that doesn't do it for me. That said, the house isn't even close to being in my price bracket.

racmun · 04/06/2013 18:47

Lush house - I love it. The only thing is the sofa in the kitchen looks a bit manky in the pictures. Sorry - I'd see if they have a picture without that in it as I think it detracts a bit.

I think a bit of colour or interest in the front would be nice - topiary or bay trees and I think another shot of the garden from the house back would give more perspective.

Justfornowitwilldo · 04/06/2013 18:48

It looks lovely. The floor plan of the upper floors could be a bit clearer.

Are those shelves from Unto This Last? If so, are you pleased with the quality? I've had my eye on some of their shelving for a while.

Purplehonesty · 04/06/2013 18:50

It's lovely. I would add a bit more character to the master bedroom it looks a bit empty and bare.
And yy to a bit of colour in the garden.
I love it tho, why are you moving?

There are a couple of bay trees in the front so will see if there is a pic with them in.

Purple- there was a bit more stuff in there but the agents took it out for the photos!

We are moving as its too big for the two of us!

I think it's beautiful but agree that a few more accessories around the house might help. I know de-personalising is a good idea, but it's such a big house, it might feel a bit cold without a few bits.

Good luck!

allotmentgirl82 · 04/06/2013 19:09

i love your house. i has period features yet it is modern too :)
i love the giant cork stool too- where is it from?

Vendoress · 04/06/2013 19:10

There is actually lots of stuff in the house but the agents moved all the bits and pieces for the photos! I agree that they have prob gone a bit too far.

Justfornow- they were made.com and quality was good.

I've looked at similar properties within a 3 mile radius including sold STC and yours is the best presented.

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 04/06/2013 19:13

I am thinking; what are you hiding?
Only 2 bedrooms out of 5 and 1 reception out of 3 on show, is there only 1 bathrooms too? Why no pictures of the rest?
