Feeling intimidated by styled house

Just browsing rightmove & came across this one which just makes me feel inadequate. A shot devoted to the sink? I know if we moved there it would look nothing like that in a week. (no vested interest)

I think it looks like it's inhabited by wealthy swingers Hmm

Marrow · 06/02/2012 12:44

Wow! Love the kitchen/family room and the ensuite is enormous! Seems very cheap.

CagneyNLacey · 06/02/2012 12:45

That sink looks a bugger to clean.

iseenodust · 06/02/2012 12:55

Wealthy swingers !?!?! Am deeply perturbed (strait laced). There's a wendy house in the garden.

My thoughts were more along lines of Cagney's.

That sink looks really bloody annoying. My flat looked a bit like that when I put it on the market but that was because all my really crappy stuff was in storage :o

Firawla · 06/02/2012 13:07

I think it looks nice, don't really see what's "swinger"ish about it? they would probably have a cleaner anyway as its a big house. and very good value for money!

scaryteacher · 06/02/2012 13:09

Sink looks like a faff - how would you get a big casserole pot in there to clean, and I note the absence of books downstairs.

Does seem cheap though.

StickyProblem · 06/02/2012 13:09

It looks gorgeous but where is their STUFF? Where are the books, the toys, the Spontex (which they will SO need for that sink)?
After freezing my bits off all weekend in my Victorian characterful messy draughty perishing house, I love the idea of it though.

bibbitybobbityhat · 06/02/2012 13:10

I think its absolutely hideous and that sink in the kitchen is a monstrosity!

UnnamedFemaleProtagonist · 06/02/2012 13:11

It's bloody lovely. I bet if you opened a cupboard ten tonnes of shit would fall out.

It's alright if you like that 'Next' kind of look. Beautifully tidy, but not really my bag (good job as I could never afford it in a million years!)

iseenodust · 06/02/2012 13:13

It's not actually particularly cheap for the area now known as Hockney's inspiration Grin.

Awful, very ott.

I hate the sink, what a waste of space, not much of a draining board is thereHmm

StickyProblem · 06/02/2012 13:14

Has anyone seen the film "Tommy"? Every time I see those round 60s chairs I want to put on a white satin dress and spin round while throwing loads of baked beans about. Particularly in a pristine environment such as this Wink I wonder if they hire the place out??

Bonsoir · 06/02/2012 13:14

Why would you feel intimidated by that house? It is truly, truly ugly!

SlightlyJaded · 06/02/2012 13:14

The sink is utterly mad. You wouldn't be able to wash anything in it and I don't like it. It looks like a Tate Modern take on a baptism font.

I don't like their 'feature sofa' either. Red. Bleugh

They have no stuff.

I'd like to think if you opened any one of those cupboards, stained tupperware would come tumbling out

It is too cheap. There must be something wrong with it.

Envymuch?

befuzzled · 06/02/2012 13:17

Looks like a normal "family with modern taste and young children" house to me. Not that disimillar to my own and with some of the same things in it. Kitchen a bit personal taste for me but not offensive. You wouldn't see any books in photos of my house either as, although I read a lot, I have a kindle and have just finished getting rid of all my books on amazon marketplace to save space, removal cost and clutter.

drivinmecrazy · 06/02/2012 13:18

I think the current owners work for IKEA. If you omit the sink, I spy many ikea buys.

iseenodust · 06/02/2012 13:18

I feel intimidated as we are thinking of putting ours on the market and we have a more 'lived in', books spilling off shelves, look. It's good to know you are not all won over by it.

Lol at "I note the absence of books downstairs"

Rhubarbgarden · 06/02/2012 13:20

I like the tree wall light. But the red leather sofa is just nasty.

albertswearingen · 06/02/2012 13:22

I honestly thought it was a show home until I saw the kids bedroom. It's bizarre they have nothing on show at all personal to them. It's just matching stuff.
