Can you have a look at this house, the pictures and the drawings, and tell me if it makes any sense at all?

The strangest thing about these details is that there is not one external photo of the actual house. I always think they are hiding something if they don't show it in the details (probably a hideous looking property in this case).

bibbity, the nick name of the area. Grin It is very cutesy, pretty and quaint. Lovely village feel, gorgeous little shops, delis, and a stones throw from the river. 3 ofsted outstanding schools in catchment.

What a shit house.
Well...no...it's quite a nice house....but for THAT asking price, it's a shit house.

Bedroom three is a cupboard.

Very badly re modelled IMHO. A house with that many bedrooms needs a hall for coats etc and straight in off the street is a no no for a lot of people. The upstairs has been so chopped up none of the rooms look comfortable.

I agree that structurally it looks dubious, but then, you see all sorts of impossible ideas on Grand Designs. I think the mezzanine is nice; you can have your bed up there for a haven, all your cupboards etc in the lower part. And it only overlooks the same bedroom, not the others. I do like the upstairs a lot, but the open plan downstairs is just too open - from the front door, you walk straight into everything right through the house.

Jesus! Ridiculous house.

I get the impression that has been overdeveloped/fucked around with by someone with more money than sense. Minuscule bedroom 3. Stairs in master bedroom. No hallway anymore. Weird setup.

Shock at the price! Is that a typo?

And what's with the garden - are they running a junk yard?

I think this is a couple with extra money to spend, who has turned their home into a one bed house with a guest room and curiosity! Grin

Rindercella, click on google street view!

The upstairs has a lot of velux windows so it looks like a single story with some sort of roof extension. Both bathrooms no window. Very odd.

Yes, but where is it actually? What do the locals call it? What is it on the A-Z?

My favourite EA made-up name is East of Brixton Village - I actually saw that on some details once. They meant Stockwell.

That streetview must be wrong... I see terrace houses.

It is in Barnes. That is the official name of the area at least, and that enclave next to White Hart Lane, wedged between the river and Upper Richmond Road, is called Little Chelsea.

nightsky, it is a terrace.

So it's the stone clad house? It is so tiny. I wonder why the agent hasn't photographed the facade - it is quite pretty, so I find that really odd.

Have you seen what it is opposite? Shock What was the name of that Polish man who lived in the most awful state? The house opposite looks on a par with his house. At least that's for sale too. Actually, that's a much bigger property. Perhaps you should buy that and develop it?

never mind Little Chelsea, how does White Hart Lane fit in? That's Spurs!!!

Fuck me! Nigh on a million squid for a terrace? Seriously? Who the fuck is gonna pay that?

jimswifein1964 · 28/01/2012 22:27

I dont think its the stone clad. There are 2 white houses next to each other with for sale signs, next to the garages. I reckon its the second of those - door& widow correct way to match internal photo, velux windows, presentation tidy like internal .

so unless this house has been on the market for 3-4 years...???

Heh heh heh Quinty.

You are determined to live in Barnes aren't you? This thread prompted me to remember fondly my thread about the 1930s semi in Barnes on the market at £2,300,000 ... so I just went and looked it up and there you are, waxing lyrical about the delights of SE13. Sadly all the links are out of date on that thread. Wish there was a way you could make them stay.
