It's that time of year again... how is everyone's school fee increase looking?
I'm hoping for under 5% (secondary)

8% at dd's London prep. I did a compound increase calculation and if it increases at this rate, fees will be almost double by the time dd2 is in Yr 6.

Wowzel · 30/03/2026 08:53

Don't know yet, but i'm dreading it!

fallback76 · 30/03/2026 08:53

@Rialleif fees did increase that much would you keep your dd in private or go state?

SpringHasSprungTheGrassIsRiz · 30/03/2026 08:55

We've been told to expect 'under 5%' (Midlands, prep). Which doesn't align to what the Head told us looking round ("we keep the price rises at inflation, or slightly lower...") so not impressed. I did the same figures as a PP and the Year 13 fees are eye-watering.

Goose8080 · 30/03/2026 11:04

2 london schools, one 5%, one just under 5%. We are relieved.

We wouldn't want to move them so we wouldn't switch to state. We'd consider state at 11/16, but having started in private, I'd be reluctant as we are used to the smaller classes etc.

Laughanotherday · 30/03/2026 16:28

Approx 4.5% - fees were split out so music, etc was listed separately and increased. I suspect any trips will also have an increase - not yet provided. Surrey.

IAxolotlQuestions · 30/03/2026 16:30

5% for us

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 30/03/2026 18:39

3.75% - thank goodness!

jdr1234 · 30/03/2026 22:00

3% and 5% for us. Hertfordshire

isthesolution · 30/03/2026 22:14

6%. So pleased it’s our last year!

Dontknowwhereisit · 31/03/2026 00:50

London day school - 3%. Happy because we’d budgeted 7%!

SunshinePineapples · 31/03/2026 01:40

5% London

Ladypartsproblem · 31/03/2026 03:13

Just under 5% for us.

Meadowfinch · 31/03/2026 03:56

4% in rural Hampshire.

Cutesbabasmummy · 31/03/2026 11:44

Ours seem to have gone down by £1 a year... got to be a typo!

VikingsandDragons · 01/04/2026 13:01

8.8%, but that's including the last of the VAT increase as they spread it over 2 years.

Moveyourbleedingarse · 01/04/2026 13:08

2.5%, bringing a terms day fees to not far from £12k 😭

schoolfeeslave · 02/04/2026 15:40

London day prep 3% - I budget for 8% but hope for 5% so pretty relieved!

Yikes!! Ours have gone up 4%. Sixth form is now £9500 a term.

TimSamandLulu · 03/04/2026 15:20

They are staying the same as last year, Scotland (don’t currently attend but joining in August).

Blimey! Even with such a small increase this year, assuming they’re in school for roughly 170 days a year, that’s just over £200 per day! Fingers crossed they can continue to keep the increases low.

popsickle555 · 03/04/2026 20:17

3.5% for us. Was expecting 5% as last year they didn’t pass on all VAT.

Kingdomofsleep · 03/04/2026 20:20

5.9%... it's not ideal as my salary is not going up by anything like that percentage

NeedingASafeSpace · 03/04/2026 20:25

Sorry to be nosey and tell me if this is rude to ask… how much generally is private secondary school?
