DD's bloody teacher is now into her 3rd week off sick with a farking cold!!!!!!

DD in year 2 so SATS year. Her teacher is now into her 3rd week off, she supposedly has a cold. Methinks either she is suffering with something far more serious and possibly private ie depression/stress or she is a fucking lazy bitch. I am not one of the mums wailing about in the playground as DD is fine, but its just a bit . How much will the supply teacher be getting about £200 per day- bet he's loving it!

Bloody annoying isn't it? My DD's teacher went off sick in September and didn't come back all year. Now back teaching her new class!!!

I'm sure it is something serious for her to be off for 3 weeks. Perhaps 'cold' is a euphemism for 'at the moment we're not sure what's wrong with her' or 'it's a sensitive issue, ie. depression'.

I know it's frustrating, but teachers have lives, too.

blimey, you do seem rather angry! I mean whatever it is, the teacher is ill fgs and as such is deserving of sypathy surely rather than vitriolic name-calling.

And the supply teacher also comes in for a dig because he erm...earns money?

I recently was off sick for 3 weeks with hyperemesis. TBH if I was a teacher or wanted to keep pregnancy a secret I would prob have done the old "cold" line.

It could be something more serious than a cold, but not necessarily stress or depression and soething she doesn't want people to know about yet. The school wouldn't be allowed to tell you unless she gave her permission.

But to be honest why she is off isn't anyone's business.

I'm sure she'd feel much better being classed as a fucking lazy bitch.

i am a teacher and i am off for my third week this term. i have hope some of my class's parents are more sympathetic than you.

You are being completely unreasonable suwoo. You have absolutely no idea what's really going on, nor do you have a right to know. If she's off ill for three weeks, then it's obviously something more serious than just a cold. However, it's none of your business why she's off. I'm aghast at you referring to her as a "fucking lazy bitch". The school are providing a qualified alternative. She's not doing it to deliberately disadvantage your daughter. Why the ?

Ooh, I'm going to get some slack on this one aren't I. No I am very sympathetic if it is something serious, have been on long term sick myself, its just the 'cold' that pisses me off.

I went home from work one day last September feeling a little bit dizzy and didn't come back for more than 6 months

I had ME; it has been one of the hardest years of my life

would have been delighted to think that people were thinking I was a 'fucking lazy bitch' after three weeks but luckily everyone I know was lovely

supply often cost school about £100 a day (I think). Their agency will get some of it, tax etc also get taken off. They don't get paid in the holidays / when not working.

If she's been off for 3 weeks it's almost certainly more than a cold. Or perhaps you'd prefer she came in and passed it around the classroom?

Not disappearing from the thread, just going to collect my poor disadvantaged DD from her terrible school full of lazy teachers and high earning supply workers.

I think the school should scan all sick notes from teachers, and email them to all the parents.
If a class teacher had recurrent cystitis, I would want to know about it!

I agree with littlefish - why do you think you have a right to know her "real" diagnosis. Also, do you think the supply teacher shouldnt be paid? As to the SATS year business - SATS are a discredited load of cobblers, so relax

you do not employ the teacher, so she doesn't have to give you a reason for being off sick. Unless you are one of those "I pay my taxes, I'm paying you to teach" people.
No one is off sick for three weeks without good reason, she may be your dd's teacher but she's entitled to her privacy, TG.
No doubt her substitute teacher is delighted to have work, and btw would you rather your daughter wasn't taught at all and save the school the £200 a day?

some of the "colds" and viruses that have been doing the rounds this year have been awful - I had one that lasted about 12 weeks earlier in the year but only took a week or so off because luckily I work in an office - if I worked in a classroom full of kids I might have taken more time off! one of my colleagues has had a lingering virus since may.

i sincerely hope that the teacher hasn't got anything serious, but if she has i hope those that have slated her feel ashamed of themselves.
