School allocations!

Reception school allocations will be out in 3 days! How is everyone feeling?!

Anxious! All the schools I’ve applied to are oversubscribed, so the next couple of days are going to drag.

Just desperate to know, our first choice is a bit of a long shot but not completely unreachable but it’s such a great school.

Do you have at least one realistic choice on your list, so you can be confident you’ll get a place at?

Hoping to get my second choice.

felt overwhelmed by the whole process - extremely anxious now waiting.

@dunroaminaroind Yes, I’d say they’re all realistic as I’m fairly close to each of them.

My first and second choice are more competitive, though I’m within the last few years’ cut-off for my first, so I’m hopeful but it can change depending on siblings and this year’s distance.

I feel more confident about my third and fourth choices as they tend to go out further.

I'd be surprised if I didn't get top 4 but 6th choice is my safety net but really don't want her to go there.

I have been counting down the weeks. Hoping for our first choice but not expecting to get it. Fingers crossed!

Very nervous! Our preferred school had 92 applicants for 30 spaces so could be very tight.

Thursday needs to hurry up. Can we check the portal in the early hours? Will it have updated then?

Feeling relaxed here but only because DD is currently in reception there, so barring a large explosion in siblings or LAC DS should be ok. But this time last year I was so anxious - hope you all get the places you’re hoping for!

We are pretty much guaranteed our first choice (sibling already there and 0.4 miles away) but its still just a worry until you get it in writing.

Nervous, as all 3 of our options are question marks due to distance. We’d have got into 2 of them last year so hoping for the same again this year. It’s still a low birth rate, but might have had more applications from people who have seen they were undersubscribed last year. Or lots of siblings.

We didn’t love our nearest school, but it’s always undersubscribed and the one we’d be placed in if we didn’t get our 3 choices. So we’ve had that as “unofficial fourth choice”. My only real worry is that some weird fluke happens and they aren’t undersubscribed this year, I have no idea where we’d end up if that happens!

Wow! I have no idea how to find out how many applications they received :S

Its council dependent on what time. Some people I know its midnight.....for my DS I think it was updated about 8am or that is when I got the email.

@SJM1988 I work in a secondary school and a colleague is a governor of the primary we have applied to so I got inside knowledge - she didn’t tell me anymore than that and I don’t think the school knows names yet - just numbers. But I’m not sure if that information was actually helpful, just wound me up more!

Surrey doesn’t release the offers until 5pm. But other areas are different I believe.

Ours doesn’t release until 9.30am on Thursday morning but I know someone who’s son started last year and she checked Wednesday night and was already there so going to have a sneaky check tomorrow night before bed.

Waiting for Surrey. The chances of 1 or 2 are virtually negligible.

Keeping fingers crossed for all those hoping for places at slightly trickier schools!
I just feel sad about it, it’ll make it very real getting his school place confirmed. He’s my eldest and I’ll miss him awfully. That being said, I’m 99% sure he’ll get into our first choice school and it really is a cracking little school so he’ll be very happy.

Hoping we will get our 1 or 2nd choice. Any other school would mean we would have to buy a second car and afterschool childcare would be very tricky.

Who is staying up to check? Our area apparently goes live on the portal just after midnight.

I would! Unfortunately London doesn't update until 5pm, although I'll probably be checking throughout the day just in case it's early 😂
