DS doing KCJS next week...nervous !!

All the best to you and DS! I gave mine a break from prep for 2-3 weeks...planning to start again from this weekend, for the January schools.

We are in state school which only has one sheet homework once a week😂 the other two are so close to each other but far away from King's! :)

Hello quick question.

Are all the Westminster Under School 8+ exams grouped together? This year it’s 20 minutes VR and 20 minutes NVR (both on iPads), and then two written papers: English (25 mins) and maths (20 mins.)

Would all those be sat consecutively? Or are there breaks between?

How was your son feeling about the interview? Nervous about the result day. Do you know when the result will come out please?:)

Didn't get much from the son apart from the fact that he only managed to answer 1 question from the passage reading bit 🙄. Apparently the boy he was paired with, also managed to answer 1 question.

Results on the 22nd November. Am going to try to not think about it at all!!

You mean just the written assessment score matters at the end? That can't be right...or maybe they're using the activity days and interviews as just a sanity check. Anyway, it is what it is.

Yes but just people talking about the standards, not official. The official information is so little:)

I think the score is key….they are not going to miss out on a super bright boy, if he’s shy and introvert. The only way a super bright boy misses out is if he’s arrogant or doesn’t listen etc….but they want the bright ones.

agree. they're probably using the interviews to sanity-check on unacceptable behavior in group or interpersonal situations. And will probably have already ranked by the written score, moving a few boys up or down based on what they have seen. My guess is 14 boys get a firm offer with a waitlist of 5-6 boys just in case

I have managed to bring myself to a zero-expectation level - we'll see if that helps.

Very quiet lately... have seen 7+ has finished and really hope 8+ comes to an end before Christmas!!!

Anyone know how long the different components of the Westminster Under School 8+ exam are? It’s a bit unclear from their email. It’s English, Maths, VR and NVR, and the whole thing from drop off to pickup is 2 hours 30 minutes. But how does that break down by paper, with breaks etc?

Also anyone know when they ask current schools for references?

My DS mentioned there was a 8.6 (or other 8ish) number on his paper in WUS test. Have your DSs met the same please? It's not the age but what is it...?
