Anybody taking the 7+ exam this year? I have noticed there isn't a thread on it this year. We are going to be trying for St Paul's and Kings. At the moment we are really struggling with the comprehension. Anybody else in the same boat?

@2minutesplease. Hope you managed to attend the KCS tour? Do you see anything extra compared with open day? Thanks

Shehr · 15/01/2022 10:21

@Curiousma I am unable to access the pms for some reason. I am happy to answer here any questions you have Smile

What school are you leaning towards? i think we may go for SPJ.

Hi @Shehr Thank you very much for your reply. I think I finally managed to PM you.
Is there any specific reason you may go for SPJ rather than location?

if our DS gets an offer from WUS as well, WUS is closer to our house but We also liked St Paul’s. When WUS reveals the final results there will not be much time to a make decision.

@Jesse21plus which school are you leaning towards? If you don’t mind answering which school is your first choice?

@muminwood Is WUS your first choice?

2minutesplease · 15/01/2022 12:51

@Jesse21plus, yes, we managed to get in :) nothing new, but the head said that the waiting list for Kings is expected to move. So maybe they didn’t considerably over offered this time.

2minutesplease · 15/01/2022 13:05

We’ll be releasing our St Paul’s place next week. Hopefully it will go to another family waiting!

Shehr · 15/01/2022 13:31

@Curiousma WUS is actually closer to us too but our DS prefers SPJ. We marginally prefer SPJ too as from speaking to other parents and visiting both schools on the open morning it feels SPJ experience is a bit more rounded and wholesome than WUS.

@Shehr Thank you very much for sharing your opinion.

Shehr · 15/01/2022 13:35

@2minutesplease has the waiting list not moved at all so far? Will it only move after the acceptance deadline?

OP posts:
Shehr · 15/01/2022 13:40

@2minutesplease I am asking because we gave up our Kings seat and my friends DS is on the waiting list. My friend is keen to know if they have a shot or some of the spots have already been given to those who were waiting. Thank you x

@Curiousma what is your view? Which one are you leaning towards?

Hi All, I am Jemma. I have been following the chat from behind my computer since October. Our son has been lucky to get offers from Kings and SPJ already and we are going back to WUS on Monday.
Just thought I said hi :) We are really undecided at the moment so if anyone as any advice to give we would love to hear.

Curiousma · 15/01/2022 13:56

@Shehr Location wise WUS is closer. It is really a tough decision. We equally liked both schools when we joined the open days. Academically it looks to me they are both very good schools. My son likes music, dance and drama as well as football, tennis and chess. I think we are more leaning towards WUS for its location of course if DS can get an offer.

puzzledmom · 15/01/2022 14:07

We are on waiting list of SPJ, no offer from Kings, invited to interview at WUS. Quite a few of you are in a very lucky position with multiple offers. I'm assuming we will only find out if waiting lists move close to deadline...

Curiousma · 15/01/2022 14:14

@londonswmum Hi Congratulations. Well done to your DS. It is good to be in this position but hard to make a decision. Which school is closer to your place?

londonswmum · 15/01/2022 14:15

Good luck puzzledmom! When are you going back next week? Probably the waiting list will start moving once WUS has released their offers.
Does anyone know what we should expect from interview for parents at WUS? Will it be similar to SPJ without ranking ie being asked what other offers we have our first choice and what we liked about school?

londonswmum · 15/01/2022 14:23

@Curiousma WUS would be closer but we have no offers yet.
Should location be the main factor of decision?
We really liked the 3 schools they are all amazing in terms of academics and I know we can’t make a wrong choice there. They all have something extra and something that we like less.

puzzledmom · 15/01/2022 14:23

@londonswmum we are going to WUS on Mon and parent's interview on Mon as well. I've asked a few friends who have sons at WUS about what to expect. Will share if I hear back.

londonswmum · 15/01/2022 14:27

@puzzledmom that is very kind of you. :)

Curiousma · 15/01/2022 14:30

@londonswmum I don’t think location is main factor but it is very important for me to consider how much time my DS will spend for travelling everyday.
Yes I totally agree all three schools are amazing and it is a tough decision.

2minutesplease · 15/01/2022 14:30

@Shehr, Kings head said that they will wait until the acceptance deadline and sit and carefully look through the reserve list to make offers. He said that there is no need to call to the office as they’ll contact successful candidate.

2minutesplease · 15/01/2022 14:33

@londonswmum hi Jemma! Well done to your DS! Would you mind sharing what you likes best or didn’t like about schools? We are going to Kings but it’s always interesting to hear fellow mums opinions and impressions!

Shehr · 15/01/2022 14:34

@2minutesplease thank you x

londonswmum · 15/01/2022 14:39

@2minutesplease kings is the furthest away. SPJ has Mrs shaw leaving which leaves a big question mark. I guess if we were leaving closer to Kings we will do similar choice to you as well. I am not putting WUS in the equations as don’t want to jinx it!

2minutesplease · 15/01/2022 19:16

@londonswmum, thank you very much for having shared your thoughts! Feels like almost all heads of schools change jobs this year! Shame to see Mrs Shaw going but on the other hand it made things easier for us and we could make up our mind re: school choice.
We didn’t register for WUS due to location.

Jesse21plus · 16/01/2022 11:02

@Curiousma. We are leaning towards SPJ as DS seems liking it more. We also sat WUS and will do the 2nd round tomorrow, but will let DS decide which one he really wants to go.
