Does anyone know when it is we hear back about which school they are going to (those starting reception 2007)? Or is it different for different parts of the country?

I thought it was early March, friend says April, so now we're both unsure!!

I thought it was the middle, so at least someone will be right.
Any time soon really

cece · 05/03/2007 13:32

The letters went out last week in sURREY

RustyBear · 05/03/2007 13:32

It's different in different Local authorities - you should be able to find out on their website.

maomao · 05/03/2007 13:33

Depends on your LEA.

happystory · 05/03/2007 13:33

You should be able to find it on your local government website. Round here it's about 23 March I think

DumbledoresGirl · 05/03/2007 13:34

I found out about ds3 on Saturday - actually Thursday evening on the website but the letter came on Saturday.

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 13:36

Thanks - googled... 30th March (we've each decided we were right )

Lucycat · 05/03/2007 13:38

ours is 31st March - but we are guaranteed a place in our priority school, i.e if you are in the catchment area, you get a place, so I'm not too worried here.

marymoocow · 05/03/2007 13:39

just looked and i was wrong. We find out on 29th March

Lucycat · 05/03/2007 13:41

have you got your new tent yet marymoocow?

Piffle · 05/03/2007 13:44

15th March her ein Lincs

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 13:46

Turns out Dorset is different to Bournemouth... atcually 9th March here

(currently doing the happy dance of rightness )

Things were more oversubscribed this year than normal so I am a bit concerned that DD and her friend won't be together (well tbh, I'm more concerned that I won't be with DD's friend's mum - the girls tend to tolerate each other )

MerlinsBeard · 05/03/2007 14:26

came on to ask the same thing!

Lucycat, glad u knew our date! Only problem here is that the school i am in catchment for is very popular and people lie about their address to get their children in

Flamesparrow · 05/03/2007 14:41

People here have been having to prove their address

OP posts:
Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 14:42

Letters get sent out on 30th March here, so we should hear on 31st. I think we live near to Lucycat.

Gobbledigook · 05/03/2007 14:44

MOM - addresses get checked here for the same reason. We'd only just moved in when ds1 was going into reception and the head turned up on my doorstep checking I was really living there!

ChippyMinton · 05/03/2007 14:44

cece have you had your surrey letter then? I havn't heard, although on the website it says they will be late.

Lucycat · 05/03/2007 14:44

mumofmonsters - I had to take a utility bill into school when i applied for a place and get it photocopied with my application form, so that there is no fraud!

Have you checked the booklet that shows the catchment areas on a map at the back?

I'm sure you'll be ok!

cece · 05/03/2007 15:55

No this doesn't affect me this year. Just know that others have had them.

ChippyMinton · 05/03/2007 15:59

thanks cece. i'm not worried because i think DS2's place is a dead cert, but feel sorry for others who are waiting anxiously.

cece · 05/03/2007 16:21

I am panicing as intake for Sept 2008 the rules for places are changing. They are thinking of doing the distance as the crow flies (staight line on map) rather than on quickest route to the school. If they do decide that it will really stuff me up. As my nearest one as the crow flies is miles away by car due to a canal being in the way

coppertop · 05/03/2007 17:11

I thought ours was mid-March but according to the on-line guide it's 25th April when the letters are posted.

MerlinsBeard · 05/03/2007 20:37

I'm not sure i had to take abil in....was so long ago lol!

We are definatly in the catchment thats why we still live in our crappy flat! Its ridiculous what people will do for a school place though!

gobbledegook, i am near (ish) lucycat too (we should have another meet up soon)

MerlinsBeard · 05/03/2007 20:37

a bill not abil
