Anyone know? - thanks!

Oh don't, spanieleyes, I had 5 last year who would have got a level 5 on the previous year's thresholds, but in fact missed it by one mark...

spanieleyes · 29/06/2013 16:02

Opposite problem this year! At the moment we have about 85% level 5, based on last years thresholds ( and some of those should be level 3's! ). We usually get around 35%!

KingscoteStaff · 29/06/2013 17:54

Sorry - should have made clear that I was talking about the Maths paper!

I agree that the reading thresholds were low last year. That Plague one was hard though. I felt Wolves was a bit easier - except for the really dense Kipling text.

If I remember correctly...
2010 Golden Dreams 31+ scored level 5
2011 Caving 34+ scored level 5
2012 Plague 33+ scored level 5

Look at that big jump as soon as Mr Gove arrived!!

spanieleyes · 29/06/2013 18:02

We don't have our maths papers back yet!
I can see the thresholds rising this year though!

KingscoteStaff · 29/06/2013 20:26

Our Maths arrived on Wednesday. 5 had coffee mug rings on the front - clearly some late night marking going on somewhere! Not as good as last year, when they had muddy cat's paw marks dancing across them.

In case anyone's interested...
2010 Maths 79+ scored L5
2011 Maths 77+ scored L5
2012 Maths 79+ scored L5

Oh bother - that scuppers my theory of Gove bumping up the thresholds in 2011.

MrsTrunchbull · 30/06/2013 17:34

Thanks Kingscote. That's the info I was looking for. Do you know the L6 (maths) thresholds too?

KingscoteStaff · 06/07/2013 08:58

Our Reading is now back.

I have 8 children who scored 33 - so last year they would have been a level 5, the year before, a level 4.

The thresholds are published on Tuesday, crossed fingers until then...

londonTeach74 · 07/07/2013 11:16

English Level 5 = 36
Maths Level 5 = 79

Feenie · 07/07/2013 11:55

Where have you got that from, Londonteach? Thresholds are not out until Tuesday.

Ruprekt · 07/07/2013 12:04

Some of our papers came back last week.

For the teacher assessment for writing ds got level 5. SmileSmile

Fingers crossed for the rest.

partystress · 07/07/2013 12:04

Nooooooo, not 36! We will drop from 52% L5s, to 40% if you are right London Sad. However, it would bring some children more in line with our expectations. Rats! Do you happen to have a prediction for where the L3/4 boundaries will be drawn?

Feenie · 07/07/2013 12:09

But how could London possibly know? Confused

Just checked nca tools - it still says the results section is closed until Tuesday.

Feenie · 07/07/2013 12:10

Ruprekt, the papers are back, and we can guess a little from last year's thresholds. But they change every year, and no one will know for sure until Tuesday.

KingscoteStaff · 07/07/2013 13:27

LondonTeach - how on earth do you know???

GetStuffezd · 07/07/2013 13:33

Oh my god, I really hope London doesn't know what she's talking about :-(

Ruprekt · 07/07/2013 13:34

London.....come back please!

Ruprekt · 07/07/2013 13:34

Why do the thresholds change every year?

GetStuffezd · 07/07/2013 13:36

Dunno ruprekt, but I'm really worrying about this 36... There's no way London could know that, as far as I can see..... But 36 would not be good for my reading results!

Feenie · 07/07/2013 13:37

Interesting first ever post btw - chucking something in you couldn't possibly know onto a parenting website!

No point in worrying, GetStuffezd - looks like scaremongering to me Wine

Feenie · 07/07/2013 13:38

The changes in thresholds are meant to reflect the difficulty of the tests, Ruprekt.

Ruprekt · 07/07/2013 14:27

So, what is coming back?

Maths

Grammar

Reading

Then they are teacher assessed for English?

londonTeach74 · 07/07/2013 14:35

don't shoot the messenger...

it's what ive been 'told'

Everyone's Levels will drop so not point worrying!
We have hit our L5 targets based on a score of 33 from last yr...so were not too fussed when our L5 score goes down.

Ruprekt · 07/07/2013 14:40

'Told' by someone reliable?

londonTeach74 · 07/07/2013 14:45

told by someone who attended a 'meeting' last week!

mrz · 07/07/2013 14:51

sorry but it's irresponsible to repeat information from unsubstantiated source unless the "meeting" was with Mr Gove
