So today she has been told that she has achieved level 5b...is that a school decision and nothing to do with the SATS although she was told that was her SATS result...her forecast teacher assessment was 5b so can assume she could have just got 79%....

Nope ruprekt, you should have received a discrete SPaG level.

spanieleyes · 12/07/2013 21:20

The "official " result shows a whole level, so either a 3,4 or 5. Schools then subdivide the points in each grade by 3 to create sub-levels. These are technically unofficial but, as they are used to measure value added, points progress etc, are widely used. SO the official result from the DfE will say a 5, the school will calculate the sub level. For maths the 79-100 for level 5 will be split at about 79-85 for a 5c, 86-93 for a 5b and 94-100 for a 5a.

Still don't have DS2's results.

Got ds2,s results today,'he got level 5 in English and level 6 in maths. We were expecting the maths but English was predicted a level 4 with the possibility of a 5 if he was in the right frame of mind iykwim?! He is chuffed to bits :) we haven't been told the actual scores, just the level. If we ask for the score breakdown will they give it to us? Not that it matters tbh, I said to him that the tests are more for the school than him, he just needed to try his best. He has come such a long way since year five tho, with referrals to camhs etc due to behavior issues and he has really started to mature and work to his potential so I and his teacher are chuffed :)

spanieleyes · 12/07/2013 21:40

As a teacher I would certainly give you a breakdown of the scores if you asked although we don't routinely because of their "unofficial" nature

lottysmum · 12/07/2013 21:48

Thanks...spanieleyes

5madthings · 12/07/2013 21:50

Ah OK thanks, is there anything to be gained by us knowing, assumimg the scores go to their high schools? Would a breakdown let us know if there are any areas he needs to work on? Tho his teacher has always been very good at letting us know anything like that anyway tbh.
