Light hearted thread; who has been grilling their DC about which groups they are in?

Be honest Mine have volunteered some information but I am resisting asking any more.

I have asked. And also had a look in DSs classroom at the beginning of the year meeting and saw the groups on the wall. Was a little surprised by DSs (in a positive way) as they had two small classes which have joined together and there are some very clever children in his year. Not surprised about DDs groups.

hahahaha GUILTY! ive gone down the "so who are you sitting next to" route.... none the wiser though lol

I am soooo guilty of this. Though still none the wiser, as no idea who is good at what anyway !

I get too confuse by it all, He was in Apples, caterpillars and triangles last year (WTF?!). None the wiser.

I have no idea. DS says he's a teddy bear and M is a puppet. This means nothing to me! Actually don't care, so long as he wasn't sat next to M!!

Also went for 'who are you sitting with?'. Guess what? 5/6 same as end of last year - what would I really expect

I to confess I have grilled asked my yr2 DS.

Think it sounds like they are on mixed ability tables atm although they are still being assessed....

There are only 6 children in my son's class so not much point, they sit at one table.

The parents of the children in my class will be very confused because I've moved them for every lesson so they've sat with different people every day so far

I have never ever thought about it.

I know DS is top of every group.

I have no idea who DC3 is sitting with . I do quiz him daily about whether he found anybody to play with (often not :().

I've had detailed unsolicited reports from DC2 about who is sitting with who, this is definitely reporting her social life prospects, not about who's clever & who's not.

Well DD1 has reliably informed me of the sets of all the children in her year (most of who I don't know) which sets DS1 is in and that DS2 is in the bright class not the thick class for his year. Not really fussed as they all appear to be really settled this year and loving school so that is the most important. As dor DD2 she is in reception doing half days this last week and next and is the out of catchment area group

I have...and because I know mine are middle of the road and they could have gone either way (there are 2 sets) o have done the blatant whose group is in so I can be sure.

Not that it really matters per se..more interested in who else is in the group and how disruptive they could be than what ability they actually are...

I too have tried to discreetly find out but DD's teacher has been doing an MRZ and they have moved around for ever lesson it appears!!

Nope. I haven't even thought to! DD is in Year 2 now and it only occurred to me that they might be in sets at the end of last year when one of the other parents was talking about it. I'm happy with the level of work she brings home - her maths sheets seem to be pitched just right, as do her reading books and she seems engaged with the subjects the teachers are teaching so I'm assuming wherever she sits/whatever set she's in it's just right.

i should add I haven't moved them with the intention of confusing parents and they will keep moving all year
