Does your preteen dd wear sandals?

Because mine refuses to!

She is 10. Last summer she mostly wore converse hi-tops, this year it's Adidas superstars which are pretty much her only out of school shoes.

We're going to Europe on holiday in August, it's going to be hot. When I broached the subject of sandals with her, she said 'no way' (and that's for ANY sandals).

Her feet are going to be very hot in trainers. Are sandals seen as really uncool now??

Mine will wear sandals but only from New Look. New Look is cool in her eyes.

My dd does like New Look for clothes but won't entertain the idea of shoes or sandals from there!

Neither of mine (10 and 12) will entertain them - they say they're too uncomfy. I've negotiated aqua shoes for the beach but the rest of the time they're in trainers or Converse.

My niece hates sandals! I done a nice French manicure on her toes a few days before the holiday and she purchased sandals over their. I'm a beauty therapist so figured she might not like getting her toes out if the are unpainted 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think I wore my first pair of sandals since early childhood in my twenties; I always thought most sandals looked awful. As a child and teenager, I wore trainers all year round (without socks in summer). The closest I got to sandals was Nike Air Rifts.

Actually dd does have flip flops, not sure how suitable they are for walking round though.

Decent flip flops are very comfortable. My dc wear Animal ones from John Lewis - the fabric toe post bit makes all the difference.

Here. Other colours available.

Flip flops/Havainas - maybe buy a couple of pairs and once you get there and she realises all the 'locals' wear them she'll be glad you packed a few.

DD age 12 has 2 pairs of sandal type shoes from new look which she finds comfy and flip flops. If I can find a link to the flip flops I'll post as she will only wear this brand as really comfy and does go for our long evening walks wearing them.

I don't wear sandals and I'm 24. They're just so uncomfortable and i always end up with rubbed spots

Agree with decent flip flops or what about pumps if she really doesn't want to get her toes out? I'll happily wear flip flops in the house but feel more comfy in pumps/soft ballet flats when I'm walking around.

Dd has silver gladiator sandals for 'good' (she's 10) and geox trainers but with bits cut out for day-to-day. She had to wear orthotics though, so it's a consideration.

9 year old dd has Birkenstock sandals. Lots of dc wear them around here, as well as the salt sun sand sandals.

7 yo dd also wears Birkenstock sandals.

5 yo dd wears all their cast-offs 😃

My dd is 14 and this is the first year in about 5 years that she's worn sandals. I think they have a thing about showing their feet as pre teens.

Crocs? I struggle to get my boys to wear sandals, too.
Doesn't matter but I think they're mad. Love my sandals in summer.
Flipflops make me shriek in horror, though, so uncomfy, I probably stopped wearing those when I was about 10.

I never wore sandals or flip flops at all! My summer shoes are Skechers go walks or toms. I have recently discovered Haviana espadrilles which I am getting used to. I like my feet covered.

My 12 year old won't, we went to Spain last month and even though I had sent her shopping with her bff and instructions to get some she didn't.
We are going to France soon and I've suggested some Sketchers sporty sandals which I'm hoping she will agree to ( doesn't mean she will actually wear them though)

Adidas sliders are the thing down my way. Or fluffy ones but not great for the beach!

I have one dd 14 who lives in high tops and the latest trainers but she will wear and has been wearing sliders... as these are apparently cool and also Havana flip flops on holiday during the day
