A lot of us have been here before. We Prepped for Brexit. Some of us are Heathcare workers. We prepare for the worst every day. It's difficult to predict what will happen in our lives. In our lifetime. Will we get Cancer? Will a huge meteorite wipe the world out?

One thing is for sure, this new virus is either affecting us, or is going to affect us all very soon. You are all already onboard. I hope you are prepared and much as you can be. And in the meantime this thread is here to support us all.

This week will bring many new challenges. We are almost certain to have some sort of lockdown. Like other parts of Europe. We aren't special. We aren't different. We are all
fragile souls. But I hope we live to tell the tale.

God Speed.

As far as I understand it, everyone needs to self isolate for 14 days if anyone has a fever in the family. I absolutely would pull my kids from school under these circumstances.

wheresmymojo · 16/03/2020 17:42

Apparently more precise advise will go on the website

wheresmymojo · 16/03/2020 17:43

*advice

Destinysdaughter · 16/03/2020 17:45

tryingtoprep thanks. I've got some gloves and won't use the toilet while I'm there. There are supposedly only 2 cases in my area, but don't really trust the figures!

wheresmymojo · 16/03/2020 17:47

That's it folks

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/03/2020 17:48

I'm ill with suspected covid and DH is refusing to self isolate as a family!!

bobbbbby · 16/03/2020 17:50

That's it then, the day I prepped for is here. DDs temp still high, so 14 days isolation for all of us. Luckily I had a top up fresh Tesco delivery this morning. And DD ate a little bit of pasta for tea so we have started on supplies already!

Sprayitall · 16/03/2020 17:57

I think we are too late in the curve if we decide to practice social distancing only after today. Also today’s briefing just means everyone stay at home to avoid gathering but if you are stupid to venture out and catch it we aren’t responsible kind of - isn’t it?? What’s the prob in shutting off schools I don’t understand- it’s going to be a mistake that No “apologies, we were wrong” can fix

MissusMaker · 16/03/2020 17:58

I was watching the conference with slightly dodgy WiFi, I know they will set out the 'rules' in a document soon but in the meantime did anyone else pick up that Chris Whitty said only adults with underlying health conditions should self-isolate? My 4 yo has congenital heart disease, I want to know on what basis they dont think she needs isolating? How certain can they be?

wheresmymojo · 16/03/2020 18:01

Yes, I picked up that he specified adults

Oops, data for 16th not 15th

Justalittlebitfurther · 16/03/2020 18:09

Well that's me self isolating for two weeks then... the house seems suddenly very small.

lachy · 16/03/2020 18:12

I'm still here, still waiting for the Work from home email. I'll do that immediately I get the email.

I've also got a freezer that needs defrosting, I could actually do with doing them both, so that might be a job for Wednesday.

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/03/2020 18:13

What the hell do you do if your family refuse to self isolate ? I'm furious with DH he is insisting to continue working even though will be paid at full rate for 14 days! I have suspected CV.

BanKittenHeels · 16/03/2020 18:14

I’m not joking when I say this but I would end my marriage over that.

What does he do. is it a work from home situation?

Sprayitall · 16/03/2020 18:15

@TiddleTaddleTat That’s a tricky situation to be in. I think you and your Dh both need to self isolate right away. Atleast for the sake of the elderly, vulnerable and high risk population out there.

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/03/2020 18:17

I am self isolating and have been since symptoms started , of course. It's that my DH is refusing to comply with the new 14 day rule and also telling DD she can still go to school

TiddleTaddleTat · 16/03/2020 18:17

No he can't work from home.

Sprayitall · 16/03/2020 18:25

I would be happy if my dh gets a job before the chaos sets in. He has been out of contract for three months now (because of Brexit and ir35) I don’t know how we are going to manage anything without any income for the next few months - we are already living over our savings (my handmade business is down the drains already and I have asked my 3 little friendly staffs who are more like family to stay at their home and work with their new creations for which they’ve agreed- they are paid per hour if I get orders) how are you all sorting your finances?

Sprayitall · 16/03/2020 18:28

How to mentally prepare our dc’s for social distancing and being at home without seeing their friends for longer? Does anyone know? Is there any government advice on that?

GinAndTonicNeeded · 16/03/2020 18:28

What happens if someone else gets symptoms in the 14 days?

For Arguements sake, lets say on day 13 one of the kids gets a persistent cough? Does the clock start again?

HasaDigaEebowai · 16/03/2020 18:30

presumably that restarts the clock
