Previous history - DD born at 32 weeks in 2015 due to waters breaking. No cause found. Now healthy 5 year old.

Currently 28+6 with DS. Yesterday I went in to be monitored as baby had a quiet day. The monitor picked up tightenings in my stomach. Cervical length was measured again, and has dropped to 2cm, from 3.5cm 3 weeks ago. Suddenly told that this could be the start of things again. I'm sure these "tightenings" have been felt a couple of weeks ago even. I thought it was baby moving high up.

I live in the Channel Islands, so have been told to prepare for medical plane transfer to Southampton hospital. DH will have to stay here until we know what's going, looking after DD. The prospect of giving birth alone, and leaving my home, it's horrible.

I've just dropped DD at school and now need to start packing an emergency suitcase. I can't think straight, I'm so frightened.

30+6 - baby still inside.

I had scans today - cervical length was roughly the same, seemed stable. Baby is growing well. His stomach measurements are larger, so I have to have the glucose tolerance test again tomorrow. Fingers crossed it’s fine. Right now, every little things sends me into a panic.

DH is doing amazing - working, and looking after DD brilliantly. DD was very upset yesterday as she misses me, which was horrible, and my lowest point so far. But I feel very fortunate that DH has always been so involved that I don’t have to worry about that side of things.

Thanks for your support.

So glad to see that baby is still staying put!

NewYearsEveWedding · 26/09/2020 08:15

31+1 - baby still inside. I’m finding being in hospital increasingly hard, but feeling very fortunate that he’s still inside.

gettingupearlyzzzz · 27/09/2020 14:13

How are you doing OP? Do you get to go home soon? Are they letting you back at 32 weeks?
You've done SO well to get this far!
I bet you're missing you're other DC thou Sad
Keep on going!!! Xx

NewYearsEveWedding · 27/09/2020 15:26

I’m experiencing tightenings today. At 11am I had a number of them, 2 in 10 mins at one point. They aren’t obvious to me either, pretty sure I’m still having the odd one now.

I’ve cried loads - potentially able to travel back to Guernsey in less than a week, and now this happens. Please keep everything crossed that this doesn’t progress further.

leafeater · 27/09/2020 20:23

I'm keeping everything crossed for you, but you are in a good place, even if you have to deliver here. You've done so well Thanks

gettingupearlyzzzz · 28/09/2020 22:29

How are you getting on OP?
I hope you're ok Thanks

NewYearsEveWedding · 29/09/2020 08:39

31+4. Baby still inside for now.
Still having tightenings, and I’m feeling very on edge. So close to 32 weeks, when I might be able to be transferred back to Guernsey, but completely aware that it might not happen if things progress. I really want to get back. I’ll have to isolate for 7 days away from home, but at least I can wave to DH and DD from a window or something.

That's great, my heart goes out to you as my waters broke at 31+5 last year and I remember desperately wanting him to hang on in there. But if things do progress now baby has done so well to get to almost 32 weeks. Uncertainty about hospitals is really nerve wracking too, I was admitted to hospital A when my waters broke though my plan had always been to deliver at B - and that was without the complication of a flight! Decisions about transfers always happen very suddenly too don't they depending on beds and transport availability.

peakotter · 29/09/2020 16:01

You’re doing so well @NewYearsEveWedding Praying your little one stays in for a few more days and that you get to go home soon.

Stabbitha · 29/09/2020 16:08

My baby came at 31+3. She never needed oxygen and was home after 4 weeks.

Good luck x

NewYearsEveWedding · 29/09/2020 16:30

Tightenings have been a lot less today, fingers crossed it continues.

Thanks for your support everyone. Just really want to get back to Guernsey, so that when labour does happen, DH can be there. NICU is such a difficult journey, and will be so hard if DH misses the birth, and I have to do it alone.

That is great that the tightenings have eased off a bit OP.
So do you have a flight booked? I do hope you get home and get to have the baby there.
Been thinking of you.....you've done amazingly well to get this far! Keep going SmileThanks

Stabbitha · 30/09/2020 09:49

How are you today?

NewYearsEveWedding · 30/09/2020 10:12

I got moved yesterday from my own room and back onto the ward. I’m losing patience. Hearing other ladies moaning as they’ve been here since Monday, it’s hard not to feel annoyed. I’ve been here 19 days now. And they’ll be having visitors today, even though they are going home later. Feeling very jealous.
Just need to concentrate on myself, I’m lucky to have got this far.
But one Mum keeps saying her unborn baby is a “bitch” as her contractions started and stopped. Like it’s the baby’s fault. Shocked at the language!

No flight booked, I know nothing. Staff are always so busy, I don’t want to pester them by asking questions. They all work so hard.

gettingupearlyzzzz · 01/10/2020 08:54

I think that's a good sign that you're back on the ward.....as annoying as wards are!!!
I really really hope you get to go home tomorrow! Keep us updated! BiscuitThanks

ScatteredMama82 · 01/10/2020 09:01

Fingers crossed for you OP. I was admitted with contractions and my waters leaking when I was 25 weeks with DS2. They gave me steroids etc, then it all stopped and I went home. He was born at 40+3!

NewYearsEveWedding · 01/10/2020 09:28

31+6.
I had a settled day yesterday, and then the monitor picked up constant contractions in the evening, which panicked me.

They were calmer this morning, although there was a pattern still. I’m waiting for my scan - cervical length will be measured, and baby’s growth will checked. Being able to travel to Guernsey (potentially tomorrow!!) all depends on this scan. I’m very anxious, I have everything crossed.

Thanks for your support everyone.

Hey, only just sent his thread, so glad you are still going. I'm also just down the road, if there is anything I can do pls let me know. Honestly happy to help x

Mysa74 · 01/10/2020 09:58

Good luck OP, I have my fingers crossed for you all.

EnglishRain · 01/10/2020 10:34

Just read the whole thread, you have done amazingly! It must be so incredibly hard being away from your DH and DD. A couple of times in my pregnancy there was talk of me being admitted and monitored for a few days and it filled me with absolute dread. It was in the midst of lockdown so no visitors permitted etc. I was very thankful that I didn't need to be admitted, I can only imagine how tough it must be for you right now.

Fingers crossed the scan goes well later.

gettingupearlyzzzz · 01/10/2020 10:46

I really hope the scan goes well later and you can get on a plane and go home tomorrow!
Keep us updated......all the luck in the world OP!

FraterculaArctica · 01/10/2020 19:20

Hope your scan went well today and you can go home tomorrow, thinking of you x
