Positive test 3 weeks after medical abortion

Hi everyone 💗 I had a medical termination at home 3 weeks ago. I took the pregnancy test that was provided to me by the clinic and it came out positive (faint line). I then took 2 normal tests and they came out positive too (picture attached). I did bleed a lot and passed a few clots, still spotting on and off even now.

I’m so scared that the abortion hasn’t worked, I contacted BPAS, who subsequently just told me to retest again in a weeks time. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar?

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated 💗

@Greenapples26 mine has arrived I haven’t done it yet. I have an appointment Wednesday with msi they said to wait until that appointment to do it x

@Supportgirlxxx I’m feeling really worried and anxious that I have a continuing pregnancy 😩 I don’t have any symptoms though! I’m going to collect a test from the clinic on Thursday. Let me know how you get on tomorrow xx

@Greenapples26 im just confused on why I’m still on and off bleeding it’s so triggering as I went thought the retained tissue issue! It’s scary and draining. To then keep bleeding is making my anxiety so bad! I will let you know, have you had no follow up scan or anything since your termination? xx

@Supportgirlxxx yeah I bet 😔 how did you know you had retained tissue? I haven’t had any follow up as they were not concerned and said my levels were just taking time to fall as the low sensitivity test was fainter between doing two and they said to do a retest which is what I’m waiting for. I haven’t had any bleeding for a couple of weeks now. I’m due a bleed next week when I have my 7 day pill break. Just worried that I have a continuing pregnancy 😔

@Greenapples26 i found out because I was having heavy bleeding and passing a lot of large clots so i had a internal scan which showed tissue left. I then had a internal scan with msi which told me I passed the tissue while I was having the heavy bleeding, but obviously now that test was positive and I’m bleeding again but not the same bleed as before I just want to know what’s going on 😩

@Supportgirlxxx how did your appointment go? X

@Greenapples26 not great, had a scan and showed 2cm retaining tissue left. Having horrid lower back pain they said I can wait and see if it passes naturally, but at this point I just want it over with so I might call them tomorrow to arrange a surgical. I also did their test it was negative x

@SupportgirlxxxOoh ok, do they do surgical at your clinic? It will probably pass with your next period. They don’t carry surgical at my clinic I would have to travel over an hour if I needed it! That’s good the test was negative though. I’m still really worried and anxious about my test being positive 😩 did you do your test first thing? I’m collecting mine in my lunch hour tomorrow and might do it soon after! 😬

@Greenapples26 yes they do surgical I was so scared doing it in the first place as never been put to sleep but I’ve just about had enough of it all now 😩 yeah I did the test soon as I got their she said it was negative. let me know what yours say x

@Supportgirlxxx my test is still showing a faint positive. 😔 I have an appointment at the clinic next Thursday for an assessment.

@Greenapples26 you may have some retained tissue like me, how long ago was your treatment now? X

@Supportgirlxxx I took the medication 5 weeks ago 😔 so worried that I have an ongoing pregnancy! I don’t have any bleeding or anything.

@Greenapples26 because your on the pill that might be why your not having any bleeding, when are you due to have a weeks break? For a period, I’m booked in for Tuesday for a surgical to remove the tissue so I don’t have to carry this hell on for much longer x

@Supportgirlxxx I’m due a bleed next week if it happens 😬 I’m hoping to just have tablets again if I have retained tissue. Just praying it isn’t a continuing pregnancy as I would be 12 weeks next Monday. 😩

@Supportgirlxxx how are you doing, do you fell more relieved knowing you’re having surgery on Tuesday? Have you asked whether they can carry it out under a LA rather than GA? I’ve never had a GA and the thought of having that scares me. Do you have someone who can take you to your appointment?

I’m feeling anxious, nervous and scared about my appointment on Thursday 😔 I’m dealing with this on my own which makes things harder x

@Greenapples26 no I feel the same :( so anxious! My daughter is 2 tomorrow and just praying I am ok and bleeding stays minimal for that day, you don’t have to carry it alone do you have children already? Also if you have Facebook you can message me x

@Supportgirlxxx 😔 hopefully it will be manageable for you. Are you still bleeding quite heavily? I haven’t had a bleed for a couple of weeks now which is worrying me. I don’t have children. X

@Supportgirlxxx I don’t feel great, just feeling so anxious and worried! I’m due a bleed this week so hoping it happens and other things happen! I’ve been have cramps and brown spotting. How are you doing? X

@Greenapples26 feeling anxious aswell just want this all behind me now :( Tuesday can’t come quick enough so I can move on! I had brown spotting two weeks ago with cramps and lower back pain, I’m on antibiotics now too because I’m afraid to get an infection it’s all just horrible xx
