Medical Abortion at 7 Weeks

Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can tell me honestly what their experience of a medical abortion was like? I've been reading online (worrying myself into a near panic attack) and they seem to range from mild period pain to the most agonising pain ever and I'm petrified. I'm roughly 7weeks and am due to take the 1st tablet tomorrow at the doctor's, then the other 2 around 12pm Saturday.

Have been prescribed 15g Codipar and Difene, have Motilium, a hot water bottle, maternity pads & light food/drinks in and my fiancé will be here for support.

Is there anything else I need or should know? How bad is the pain? I have a very low tolerance and am absolutely freaking out. Any advice would be so helpful x

I also ended up negative on my 3 week post MA test too. You’ll be okay!

I know it's silly because women give birth all the time, but it's the unknown plus reading all these horror stories have me gone half mad! I'm very lucky to have my partner but he can't take pain away etc so you do feel like you're in it alone regardless. So a massive thank you and I will be on here as I go through the process, hopefully all goes smoothly and I can reassure other women like you've done for me x

Absolutely, that would be amazing thank you❤ Don't think I've ever been this anxious or afraid, and coming from someone with severe anxiety that's saying a lot. When are you planning to take yours, if you don't mind me asking that is? Would be nice to have a (virtual) hand to hold with someone who's going through the same thing x

Hey I'm going in for my medical abortion tomorrow (2nd part) I'm petrified. Worst thing is nurses only want to start me with paracetamol to begin with and it's making me anxious that if the pain gets bad I'll have a window without relief. Feel free to msg me I'll be in hospital in the morning starting treatment and I would like some company helping me through x

When I say tomorrow (like in 6 hours) I can't sleep I'm so worried :(

Please don't worry you'll be fine. Ask if you can two paracetamols. I was 8 weeks 2 days and had 2 ibuprofen and it was like a bad period. You'll be fine xx

@AnxiousAndScared please don't worry you'll be fine. Like I said before my medical abortion at 8 weeks 2 days was like a bad period. I took 2 ibuprofen and fell asleep then went to the toilet and heard 2 plops passing the pregnancy. I didn't see anything as the water was full of blood. Afterwards I felt like a new person and was really really hungry.

Thank you so much for responses. Not sleeping is not gonna help but I hope we can all speak here tomorrow whilst I'm in hospital. I really would appreciate just people to talk to. Knowing it'll hopefully all be over after tomorrow makes me feel better but I hope it goes straight forward. I'll ask for para and ibrufen x

@Heathernoll Hi, I really hope it goes well for you. I'll absolutely be here for you to talk to as much as I can, going in to the Dr to take the 1st pill today and then taking the 2nd lot tomorrow around 12pm so hopefully we can help each other even a little bit. Thinking of you x

I took first tablet on Wednesday, had slight cramping but other than that it's not been bad. Take it easy, you'll be fine. I'm still omw to hospital for 2nd part, and feeling sick to my stomach but it'll be over later and I'll be relieved. Let's be there for each other and get through this together x

Had 2nd part about 35 mins ago. I'm already cramping but it's fine atm. I'm not allowed a hot water bottle so I'm kinda sad :( x

@Heathernoll Wow that's quick, hopefully that means it will be over all the sooner for you...DAw no poor you, did they give you any pain meds?x

I've had a ton of meds and no pain atm, I'm kinda scared to go toilet lol x

@AnxiousAndScared that pain relief should be fine. Just double check with the nurses.

@Heathernoll Okay, do you think they're helping? Have you been moving around at all? Read that can help get things 'started'. I've taken the 1st pill and think I may have started bleeding (sorry if tmi) but have to wait til home to check. You're doing great, you got this!!

@heartbroken22 Thank you, asked the doc and she said that was the strongest they could prescribe. Kinda wish I could do this in a hospital or clinic, would be reassuring to have medical professionals there just in case x

Please don't worry you should be fine. I just wanted the comfort of my own bed when I had the second pills and a good sleep. Then just a good meal 😂

@heartbroken22 True, plus at least I cam have my partner with me too! Yeah I have 24-48 hours to do it but going to do it ASAP which is 12pm tomorrow...Going to have to do it at some stage anyway so better sooner than later I reckon x
