Abortion on the 17/1 and positive pregnancy test?

Hi all,
I had a medical abortion at 6 weeks on the 17/1 this year. I had the mirena inserted on the 1/2. I was told to do a pregnancy on the 7th and the 14th. The one on the 7th was faint but there was x2 lines which to be honest I expected however I have just done the second one as I forgot on the 14th and it’s darker then the one on the 7th??? I’ve rang Marie stopes and she’s just informed me that the mirena isn’t 100% effective from day one and I should be using condoms for the first 7 days! NO ONE informed me about this and i assumed it was effective from insertion just like the Cooper one was as no one told me any different. Could this actually be a new pregnancy or is there some other reason for why the line is darker? Please any advise is welcome xxx

I still think you might be pregnant again and the nurse doing the ultrasound the other day just couldn’t see it. When I was 4+6 days they could only just see mine and it took her ages to find it. When my sister had one at 5+2 they couldn’t see it at all and she had to get 3 separate nurses to scan her until the eventually found it and gave her the tablets

I’m really thinking this is a new pregnancy OP demand the doctors do the testing. There’s only so many pregnancy tests you can keep doing & this seems to the strongest yet. You must be going crazy

Well, I’m just so bloody confused to be honest. The tests at the clinic yest were so faint I felt embarrassed to have kicked up a fuss. These were Tesco own and your rifhr was a strong positive! Doctor will defo do bloods Monday. Starting to think maybe it is a new preg 🤔🤔

You wouldn’t be getting results as strong as that if it was just hormones leftover from over a month ago. You might still be getting a positive but it would get fainter each day. The blood test is the best way to know as if the HCG has gone up at all then it’s def a new pregnancy. If it’s stayed the same or come down then it’s the hormones. Good luck x

I know it's not the same but I got a really strong positive on a first response in January and when I went to hospital with sepsis they used 3 of their tests and all were so negative they thought I was taking the piss. I got DH to bring in a first response and within seconds it was positive.

They binned their batches of tests and got a new load and they must have been faulty as the next load showed a strong positive

This was this mornings, if it was a new pregnancy I’m sure the line would be stronger as it was FMU, I don’t get what’s going on in my body! It’s so very strange xx

What a nightmare. You just need to know one way or the other.

I’m starting to think 💭 is something else going here now, as I always seem to get darker positives in the afternoon and lighter tests in the morning tbat seem to be staying at one colour! Xx

That’s a strong positive some times even the amount of dye in tests can alter result slightly x

It’s good you’ll know for sure on Monday as if your HCG has raised at all since the last test then it’s definitely a new pregnancy 100%. Otherwise it’s just a very slow release of hormones after your abortion (rare but can happen to some women). Is it 5-6 weeks since your abortion now? Xx

Yeah 6 weeks Wednesday having period cramp now 🤔🤔 xx

Hopefully it’s your period coming. I had period type cramps the whole time I was pregnant though. It’s the only symptom I had and I kept thinking my period was coming but it never showed up which prompted me to take a test xx

Hoping for your period too, OP. Period cramps were my only sign of pregnancy too however:( feels identical to AF. Take care x

Yeah nothing is coming of it atm, it’s gettjng quite bad back and front. Keep checking but nothings going on. I have heard people saying with the mirena they get the cramp but not the bleeding so maybe it is that 🤔🤔

When are you getting your bloods rechecked again? I think that s pretty crucial.

Monday so I won’t fond out results until Wednesday xx

Yes that could be the reason. Makes sense actually as the nurse couldn’t see anything during the ultrasound other than a cyst xx

Yeah a friend said to me about it, I do usually get cysts during my cycle. Apparently it’s extremely rare it giving off hcg but I think it may be what’s going on here x

No nothing now, headaches gone. Had a touch of nausea yesterday but nothing today! Apart from period cramp nothing else xx
