Abortion on the 17/1 and positive pregnancy test?

Hi all,
I had a medical abortion at 6 weeks on the 17/1 this year. I had the mirena inserted on the 1/2. I was told to do a pregnancy on the 7th and the 14th. The one on the 7th was faint but there was x2 lines which to be honest I expected however I have just done the second one as I forgot on the 14th and it’s darker then the one on the 7th??? I’ve rang Marie stopes and she’s just informed me that the mirena isn’t 100% effective from day one and I should be using condoms for the first 7 days! NO ONE informed me about this and i assumed it was effective from insertion just like the Cooper one was as no one told me any different. Could this actually be a new pregnancy or is there some other reason for why the line is darker? Please any advise is welcome xxx
Ps I have attached a couple of pics the one in the brown bathroom is the test from the 7th and the other one I did tonight x

Just read your thread op. What a stressful time for you.
I would say you're pregnant from those tests. Have you considered what you would do if that's the case? Fingers crossed you're not and you can have further tests with the drs to put your mind at rest.
It must be such a confusing time for you.

I’m not entirely sure what I would do, of course he reasons for the first abortion still stand however I am not sure how I’d code having to go through it x2 months on the trot! I can’t get my head around being pregnant again so I’m hoping that it is just lazy hormones x

Good luck today hope everything goes well and fingers crossed there is no new pregnancy and no tissue left.

Tootsings · 22/02/2018 09:35

Good luck OP, I definitely think it's still worth going to make sure Thanks

Hefzi · 22/02/2018 09:41

Good luck, OP Flowers

I had a surgical termination at 9 weeks, and it took over a month for my hcg levels to drop by very much at all: I ended up having a hysteroscopy as a result. The gynaecologist told me it's unusual but not unheard of.

Today’s test xx

I really wouldn’t rely on the darkness of those strip tests they vary all the time Sad I do hope it’s left over hormones and hope you get some answers soon x

Purplerain101 · 22/02/2018 10:41

It still looks quite dark to me. My line was so light that I had to hold it up to the light to see it after my abortion, and then it vanished completely after 11 days. I hope you get the answers today from your scan xx

Star90 · 22/02/2018 11:12

Just spoke to the doctor and he said my levels were 248 but he’s not concerned enough to ask me for bloods again he’s said rpt in a week if I don’t get the answers I need today x

Hi all, there’s nothing left inside that they could tell and also when they did a preg test it was negative 🤦🏼‍♀️ Like barely any line at all! So I’ve got no idea why I had that postitive test this morning. They did mention I had a cyst but that it was normal and nothing to worry about. But otherwise they said my endometrium was slightly thickened which could incidate new pregnancy but could also indicate I’m about to have a period. So for the test to be neg here I’m confident it’s nothing xx

Pleased for you. It's horrid being a woman x

FellOutOfBed2wice · 22/02/2018 15:42

Don’t rely on those strip tests OP. I’ve had them vary between dark and barely anything when I was most definitely pregnant.

Star90 · 22/02/2018 15:45

Well this is it, they did one of those at the clinic well they did two and both had a faint line on but not as dark as this morning x

Hey I can’t find a suitable board to put this in so if anyone has any ideas or suggestions let me know :)
The person scanning me today said she doesn’t think my coils in the right place so I’ve tried to get the strings checked tonight with no luck. I took a friends advise (cause I personally couldn’t feel them myself) and she said have a bath and see if you can feel them then! And I’ve done that and I absolutely can! Does this mean it’s okay?? And that it isn’t in the ‘wrong’ place?? Xx

No luck meaning no health professional would check them for me 🙄

HiggedyPiggedy · 23/02/2018 06:51

The ultrasound will have given much more accurate info as to the coil position, than just being able to feel your strings. Your GP should be able to arrange a proper ultrasound to check. I would use condoms for now.

Star90 · 23/02/2018 08:33

I’m not sure the nurse doing the ultrasound really new what she was on about without sounding awful 🙈 cause she did say if you can feel the strings I’ve worried you for nothing xx

Purplerain101 · 23/02/2018 10:59

I would use condoms until you can have a nurse properly check it. My cousin fell pregnant from a wrongly fitted coil x

louise5754 · 23/02/2018 11:10

My sister in law got pregnant on the coil twice ( had both aborted)

It took me a month to get pregnant with both my kids so maybe I'm very fertile. I've been on the coil 3 years and not got pregnant.

All different aren't we?

Star90 · 23/02/2018 11:18

Yeah I’ve rang my GP this am and waiting for them to call me back. Defo using protection until I have a scan to make sure! This whole thing is a pain in my ass 😂

Doc said do a normal (not strip test) preg test over weekend and if it’s neg then Don’t worry about bloods I know it’s not quite weekend but I thought sod it. This is Tesco own 🤦🏼‍♀️
