reading books at home=my perfect holiday

JW sounds like you have the same prob as my friend whose oldest dd has Asperger's - only with the added complication that your tricky one is a stepchild. Her younger dd and ds are really easy-going and happy just running about on the beach, playing footie etc. but the older girl dictates what they do, which has to include going to shops, playing obsessively on the Wii, spending hours on MSN Messenger, taking hours doing her hair - all 'normal' teenage girl behaviour, but done to the limit with much aggression and shouting. My mate can occasionally leave her with grandparents to give the rest of them a break; sounds like you don't have that option, given his mother's uselessness.

I love Alnwick - didn't make the Potter connection though!

Tee2072 · 05/12/2008 14:47

JW she's just gorgeous!

David Morrissey is not the new Doctor. Christmas Special and CiN excerpt were shot before David announced he was leaving the show after this year. Biggest rumours are for the guy who played the guy who was with Rose in the Weakest Link during the episode 'Bad Wolf' at the end of Series 1. I cannot find his name anywhere!! So a black Doctor.

Reading books at home are also my perfect holiday, BTW!

johnworf · 05/12/2008 15:04

ermintrude Harry Potter was filmed in Alnwick Castle

ermintrude13 · 05/12/2008 15:09

oops. i've been there, and i've seen all the films, and i never noticed... - thought it was the lakes rather than that far north.

jeanjeannie · 05/12/2008 16:02

OOooo, staying at home and reading books....fab holiday! I'm too pale to sunbathe and I get so bored. Plus, I look rubbish in a triangle bikini!!!

We stayed in Wells-next-the-Sea - so, really near Holt - t'was lovely - nice seafood too.

Did I mention food? DP has gone out and I'm about to text him to get some cake - or mince pies...MMMmmm. I need them as I didn't get great vibes from the nursery. Not sure why - think it was cos the girls were all about 18 and seemed very unconfident. Didn't feel it was worth £8 ph Ho hum....on to the next one.

johnworf · 05/12/2008 16:17

JJ go with your gut feeling on these things. I think it's like a lover, you know when it's the one.

I've eaten too many mince pies today. I feel fat and torpid And that's before we get started on the xmas fare.

I know Wells..Cromer, Sherringham, Blakeney Point and not forgetting Stiffkey (which the boys from the back of the car used to shout in unison 'Stiffkey' No idea why. They probably wouldn't now as they're grown up.)

ermintrude your friends DD sounds a little older than DSS but I can see him being similar in a couple of years. It can be hard word sometimes. We took him to Butlins in the May half term of 2007 and he loved it and of course now he wants to keep going back (another trait of Aspergers, stick with the same thing). Both myself and DH NEVER want to see Butlins ever again! So that is that

I have 3 books that DH bought me for my b'day in July and I've not even read the inside cover yet. When I get time...I will. Just have to wait until Katherine is 15 then

johnworf · 05/12/2008 16:21

Meant to say, Little Green Earthlets have a sale on. Also they are giving a code for 10% off (XM08) and it's free delivery until 23/12...I think.

Super duper. Just ordered some more nappies but it's off anything on the website.

mrsboogie · 05/12/2008 16:55

I was halfway through a book before D was born and I haven't as much as thumbed a page since - it was three weeks before I read a newspaper

but I have been v good food wise this week - have been on a diet of porridge and home made soup. Mot a single biccie, mince pie or piece of cake has crossed my lips. There is a great vat of homemade minestrone in the fridge so guess who ain't cooking tonight??

guess who will be sandpapering kitchen skirting boards tho

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 05/12/2008 17:02

Homemade minestrone....really? How fab....*puts on coat and bundles girls in the car. Be with you about 8pm!!

Sandpapering skirting boards doesn't sound like a fun friday night in....

I barely even read mags these days It's the interweb all the way for me I'm afraid....that's about my only vice. Well, apart from CAKE FESTIVE CAKE! with a funny hat on top

mrsboogie · 05/12/2008 17:31

aha! I knew Kym Marsh was pregnant!

/scuttles back to the DM website

OP posts:
johnworf · 05/12/2008 18:18

really?

goes off to check DM.......

jeanjeannie · 05/12/2008 18:37

OOOooo yes, so she is. I like her style....a younger man and up-the-duff just six months after they met....tee hee.....I highly recommend it

He's a lot nicer looking than her ex-hubby. Ok, Ok. I know that was shallow and all that, and looks count for nowt...but she is a celeb....so I can say that!

Am feeling cock-a-hoop!!!! I rang a nursery that is always tres busy, attached to a fab school and in the nice part of town just so I could have a look. Got chatting with the woman who runs it - turns out I know someone who works at their sister nursery in Marlow and we've got a place one morning a week if we want it I'm soooooo thrilled.

johnworf · 05/12/2008 19:24

Is Iris packing her little Iggle Piggle lunchbox as we speak?

Before you know it JJ she'll be borrowing your make up and up until the wee hours on MSN

johnworf · 05/12/2008 19:24

I don't get it...with Jack Ryder for 5 years then up the duff with the first bloke that comes along......is there something I'm missing?

jeanjeannie · 05/12/2008 19:47

Didn't get Jack Ryder full stop. He always looked like a little boy

Don't watch Hollyoaks - so not seen this new one - but he looks quite pleasing in the piccie!

Iris would love an Iggle Piggle lunchbox - just wouldn't like the lunch!

dreamydowler · 05/12/2008 20:17

just love catching up with all the gossip on here

johnworf · 05/12/2008 20:42

Mebbe he was little...if you catch my drift!
ha ha ha ha ha ha ha !!!
OOooh matron

johnworf · 05/12/2008 20:43

I bet Ramsay feels sick now he knows that Jim Davidson (pardon me whilst I puke. just the mention of his name) has been where he's been....ewwww....the mere thought of it

mrsboogie · 05/12/2008 21:28

ugh. Jim. Davidson. Good job she was getting paid is all I can say

ooh yeah the Hollyoaks bloke. Well hunky. Kinda rough looking in a good way (is there a bad way?) so would. ahem. I have had 2 g and t's (as its Friday) and only some porridge to eat today so I should probably slink off now...

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 05/12/2008 22:04

Porridge and G&T - hey, that's one hell of a breakfast

Feel really queasy at the thought of Jim Davidson. Oh that woman is revolting - wouldn't want to read the expose on her lovers - they're all too revolting to expose!!

Verity is wailing. Am also slinking off....

johnworf · 06/12/2008 09:13

Can someone please explain how you 'over bond' with your child?

And anyway, wtf is it exactly? Mebbe I should just ring Nicole Kidman up and ask her. I've just texted her but she's not got back to me yet...

jeanjeannie · 06/12/2008 09:29

'Over Bond'.....MMmmm, let me see....has she superglued herself to little Sunday Roast...? She never texts me back either.......some friend.

We have a list of things to do tday. On it are 'take loads of stuff to Oxfam', 'make Verity's room pretty', 'get new bird feeder' ....so that's our Saturday!

Hope all Preggie ladies are feeling fine and dandy

mrsboogie · 06/12/2008 10:14

yeah - what rot - overbonding my ar*e! so, she doesn't want to let the baby out of her sight - she had to wait 41 years and never thought she would have a baby - it would be odd if she wasn't a bit keen!

off to homebase for more paint and such like

btw wouold just like to point out the g and t was last night - not for breakfast

mrsboogie · 06/12/2008 10:15
