Feel embarrassed to ring MW - but feel a bit odd and have a wet undercarriage (!) POSS TMI IN OP

Last night I felt "damp" down below - wasn't overly hot but had been coughing a lot so assumed I'd peed myself a bit (!) - didn't smell at all though.

This morning, just done school run and on the walk back I realised that my trousers felt damp between my legs - got home, again no smell, trousers are damp but not wet IYKWIM (same with knickers) but I feel very wet inside.

God sorry this really is TMI

Should I ring the MW? I never had this with other two pgs.

There is no gush of water or anything, just feels damp - PJs were dry this morning

what swedes just said - the baby's head can cover the leak. Don't want to freak you out further, but thos happened to me last time - I reckon from about 36 weeks. I kept going to my mw and she checked but every time I went no amniotic fluid was detected, even though she did suspect my waters had gone. This kept happening on and off - some mornings I'd wake up thinking I'd peed myself (nice).

Eventually at 37 +5 I was too damp to ignore it any longer and when the doctor checked he barely looked at my undercarriage and sent me straight over to L+D - I had to be induced as I was not having any contractions. Had to get hold of dh pronto - and I also had nothing organised! Even told the doctor I couldn't have the baby that day as I wasn't quite ready and could I just go home?

Anyway dd was born the next morning, 15 days early. All a bit surprising. But what I'm saying is, if it is your waters, (and they smell slightly sweet, iirc) you will have to get going!

Good luck!

Just popping in to see how my fellow wet-knickerers are doing! Glad to hear that you have a bit longer to pack your bag, MamaG

I am scoring highly on the damp-o-meter - apparently my waters have gone and now I just need to get contractions started somehow!

fryalot · 25/09/2008 17:13

ah, found ye!

(I can't believe I've been searching MN for the words "damp" and "undercarriage" )

anyway, how ye doing?

no advice, just being a potential labour groupie

oh, before I get out the grill, any vegetarians? any special requests?

LackaDAISYcal · 25/09/2008 19:13

gluten free bread? or will I bring my own?

MamaG · 25/09/2008 19:18

what's happening MamaG?

am glued to this as I'm only a week behind you!

Pidge · 25/09/2008 19:41

Blast, now I'm hooked too. I'm due in 2 days, but not a sign of baby action here, and frankly I'm quite content to wait another week like I did with my first two. So ... am dependent on you ladies for some vicarious labour action .

MamaG · 25/09/2008 19:45

really don't htink anything is happening

sorry

its down to you!

MamaG · 25/09/2008 22:11

Hey MamaG haven't had chance to read all the replies but it sounds like it could be increased discharge (sorry, but completely normal at this stage of the game!) or could be a slow leak (hindwaters) - again completely normal - bear in mind that a hindwater leak is not the same as "your waters going" - believe me if your forewaters had gone you would know about it. A hindwater leak can go on for a while and can even reseal themselves. Because the membranes in front of the baby's head are still intact the risk of infection etc is v. low. So a suspected hindwater leak does not mean you need to rush in for monitoring and examinations and suchlike unless you feel the need! But if you are having BH and have the runs then I agree labour is possibly not so very far away. No need for panic but may be worth making sure you have a plan for what happens when it does kick in - can be very fast with a 3rd baby!! Good luck, very exciting, keep us posted!!

MamaG...Have a read of my thread, over 2 yrs ago now (scary!) but i thought i was leaking something, hilarious to read it again for me thought especially taking into account the title.

pucca · 26/09/2008 00:19

Though not thought doh!

giraffescantdancethetango · 26/09/2008 00:38

Hope you're all doing ok

nappyaddict · 26/09/2008 01:13

so if it is hind waters they don't have to induce you? i got conned!!

Pontypine · 26/09/2008 08:10

To update everyone, i had a pad on last night and nothing on there so i am putting mine down to an increase in disharge.

MamaG, can i ask have you got any itching "down there"? I only ask because i had thrush a few weeks back and was very "leaky" with that? I think that's what this is again this time!

LazyLinePainterJane · 26/09/2008 08:35

But of course, MamaG, the BH might have been caused by the diarrhoea.

How are you feeling today?

orangehead · 26/09/2008 09:22

hope you ok mamag

MamaG · 26/09/2008 11:57

no, no itching

Fine today, nothing overnight - have cleaned whole middle floor of house this morning very energetcially and sorted out what baby stuff I have - going to buy rest this weekend then I can relax a bit more

Am actually glad that its nothing, as I'd be worried going into labour at 35 weeks

mrsm - thanks for info about hindwaters etc, v reassuring

Going to read pucca's thread now, hope everyone else ok
