Last night I felt "damp" down below - wasn't overly hot but had been coughing a lot so assumed I'd peed myself a bit (!) - didn't smell at all though.

This morning, just done school run and on the walk back I realised that my trousers felt damp between my legs - got home, again no smell, trousers are damp but not wet IYKWIM (same with knickers) but I feel very wet inside.

God sorry this really is TMI

Should I ring the MW? I never had this with other two pgs.

There is no gush of water or anything, just feels damp - PJs were dry this morning

nappies and babygrows are plenty aren't they? THings like breast pads and other stuff can be gathered up later.

georgimama · 25/09/2008 11:28

You need a couple of vests, a couple of babygros, some cotton wool and a packet of newborn nappies. Someone can go to Tesco and get the rest while you are in delivery suite!!

MamaG · 25/09/2008 11:59

oh bollocky bollocks. Got to go to hospital to be checked out. She said it might be a teeny leak but needs checking (yes yes, as you've all told me!!)

Will chuck some bits in a bag just in case, i think.

Good luck MamaG, you've probably got a while to go yet but best to find out for sure.

MamaG · 25/09/2008 12:01

Thanks georgie. Now can't get through to the hospital ffs!

Just turn up.

orangehead · 25/09/2008 12:02

Good luck mamag. Be prepared that they might keep you there for monitoring for a few hours. It might be an idea to ring someone now to be on standby to pick up the kids from school. Thinking of you

Anglepoise · 25/09/2008 12:02

Can I join the wet knickers support group please? Just been sent here after a similar thread over in childbirth, getting random gushes and no idea what's going on!

Just called the hospital and I have an antenatal appointment at 2, so fingers crossed it isn't just discharge

orangehead · 25/09/2008 12:03

When are you due angle?

CvQ · 25/09/2008 12:04

goodluck mamag!!

Buda · 25/09/2008 12:05

How exciting! Sorry MamaG - I know you are not ready yet!

Buda · 25/09/2008 12:06

Do an on-line Boots shop and order the things you need? you might relax a bit then.

bohemianbint · 25/09/2008 12:08

Good luck MamaG!

MamaG · 25/09/2008 12:13

Just spoke to MW at hospital and she said to ring back in 2 hours if I still have dampness

Thats the birth centre, she said that I wouldn't be able to go there if there IS still dampness, I'll have to go to the hospital which is an hours drive away.

Going to go eat chocolate and lie on teh sofa I think

Do we have to sit and wait now - I was getting all excited reading this thread

Anglepoise · 25/09/2008 12:23

orangehead I'm term+10 and booked in to be induced on Saturday, which I really don't want to be, so hoping this is the start of something.

MamaG good luck!

ajm200 · 25/09/2008 12:30

Good luck!!

EffiePerine · 25/09/2008 12:35

Hope all is well

I think the hospital can supply nappies and so on in an emergency, anyway there'll be a 24 hrs Tescos or summat nearby if needed, so don;t worry about your bag. If it is a false alarm you might want to start packing though

Enjoy the rest from work and the choc.

ronshar · 25/09/2008 12:51

I had exactly the same thing at 35 weeks. I spoke to MW at my 36 week check and she said it was not unusual to have to wear a panty liner towards the end. I am now 38+4 and it has eased a little but sometimes I still feel like I have wet myself.
It is shocking the things we have to talk about!

frankbestfriend · 25/09/2008 13:20

Where are you on the damp o meter scale this afternoon MG?

Hope all is well, but you can't lie on the sofa with your legs crossed for the next 4 weeks you know

MamaG · 25/09/2008 14:30

Dampometer is low

Relieved and embarrassed by my panic this morning!

Anglepoise, you'll have to take over - gush away and let us know when the baby is coming

Can i please join the damp knickers people too? I am 33+1.

I was thinking mine was thrush related as i have just come off antibiotics for 2nd water infection and am itchy but i also have chronic back ache and REALLY back low down tummy ache - almost like an ovulation pain.

I've been told to put on a pad to catch the wetness when it seeps out and then get midwife to examine it! (wouldn't fancy that job)

Good luck everyone!

MamaG · 25/09/2008 15:16

no you're welcome to join us in our discussions about vaginal secretions

lol

Swedes · 25/09/2008 15:22

If it's leaking amniotic fluid, I think it leaks more when you lie down. As the baby's head sort of forms a plug and stops the fluid running out.

Good luck.

orangehead · 25/09/2008 16:08

Mine didnt leak when I lie down, but gushed out when stood up
