@Backtotheicsi Try the happy baby! Or hands and knees with your bum in the air 😂. I am also glugging Gaviscon from the bottle.

Sara237 · 18/11/2025 21:02

Hi all,
I've been quiet on here as having a rough time of it like so many of you with the sickness and fatigue. I literally just sleep, eat and moan 😂 I don't want to keep complaining but it's so horrible feeling sick all day every day. I'm 9 weeks tomorrow so hoping and praying it'll ease in next couple of weeks. With my son 8 yrs ago I just used to throw up once every evening and was fine all day. Now, I can barely function. Maybe it's my age (48). Glad you are all getting on well and pleased to hear so many of you are feeling better now in trimester 2. It's got so that I literally cannot imagine feeling normal again! Best wishes to you all!

pastelheart · 18/11/2025 21:05

@Backtotheicsi how was your scan? 🩷

@Sara237 hey! I am so sorry about the sickness and fatigue… I know 100% how you feel but there is light at the end of the tunnel. 5 days ago I thought this was it and how I was going to feel for the rest of my life but now I’m 10/10 loving life again! Xx

@CloudyIvy55 awful isn’t it lol
@magpie234 that sounds like quite the sight. 😂😂

@pastelheart scan was brilliant measuring perfectly baby was active and I was so excited as I feel like this is it now for us! My girl has gone to bed with a scan picture she is so happy. She wants to know the name and keeps asking how many days though lol
hows the sickness still better? I still have awful times but I’m noticing the odd hour where I’m like ohhhh I didn’t feel sick for a bit then lol. Taking it one hoping it gets better and better xx

magpie234 · 18/11/2025 22:26

@Sara237 I could have written this (sure I did) at 9 weeks and I also struggled to believe I would ever feel normal again. I noticed a big improvement from 13 weeks onwards so hopefully you will too. But I remember then thinking wtf another 4+ weeks of this?! Time felt like it could not go more slowly and now it is flying by. I did also get Xonvea which helped me a fair bit so you could try that too if you are really in the trenches with the sickness? But really it was getting to the point where the placenta took over that helped. It truly sucks so solidarity!

@Backtotheicsi Fantastic news and that is so sweet about your daughter. Hope your sickness lifts soon!

@pastelheart So happy to read how much better you are feeling. More hope for you there @Sara237- you have got this! 💪🏻

Sara237 · 19/11/2025 09:05

@magpie234 Thanks for the kind words. It's just so hard to function. Have had to take time off my second job and don't get paid if don't work, no sick pay etc so it's costing me a lot. Have first midwife appointment today so will see if there's anything she suggests. I was hoping I'd feel better by 12 weeks 🤞.
@Backtotheicsi Hope your sickness lifts soon too and you can get your mojo back!
@pastelheart Glad you're feeling so much better now and can actually enjoy pregnancy now. I felt fantastic with my son 8 yrs ago. Loved it! The only good thing about this so far is my hair. It's looking stupendous 😂

magpie234 · 20/11/2025 09:33

Just found out we are having a little girl 🥰

pastelheart · 20/11/2025 09:54

hey ladies I had my scan Tuesday didn’t I which was brilliant but then unfortunately I had a fall yesterday in work, I was walking across the playground with a little boy who out of no where did a random dance move and I wasn’t flying forward. Managed to land on my hands and knees but I’m still a little worried. Midwives were absolutely no help, I have a Doppler I let myself use one a week usually and I’m pretty sure I’ve found baby last night and today but I’ll feel better on Wednesday after my gender scan.

im glad there’s a general trend of starting to feel better I think my sickness may be lessening as I feel less miserable. Exciting that we are starting to find out genders, is anyone waiting until birth to find out?

If you are worried I would go to triage and make them scan you

Nosejug · 20/11/2025 13:02

Oh man, just back from EPU and absolutely did not expect to see what we did. A strong little heartbeat and little limbs waving about for a few seconds, it was amazing. I honestly didn't believe we'd get to this point. Now I'm swapping by doubt:hope ratio around, whatever those %s are!

Yeesh @Backtotheicsi im sorry to hear about your fall. well done (and poor you) landing on hands and knees. Agreed that if you're worried then do what you can to make them scan you.

@magpie234 a girl a girl!!!! How lovely :)

MugOfMildDoom · 20/11/2025 17:41

Unfortunately mine has ended in a miscarriage at 6 weeks so I’m leaving the group. Now have to wait 4 months to try again. Good luck to all you girls and try to appreciate the sickness because at least you know it’s all still going well! Xx

SarahAndQuack · 20/11/2025 19:28

Hi all. May I join?

I'll be 10 weeks tomorrow, so due in June 2026. I'm 41 and it's IVF with donor sperm; I have a lovely 8-year-old DD from a previous relationship (she's my ex-partner's biological daughter and also conceived with donor sperm).

I've found it quite hard to believe this one is really going to happen and I still feel very aware there could be bad news at later scans, so it's really nice to have a thread for other 'complicated' pregnancies!

pastelheart · 20/11/2025 19:50

@Backtotheicsi ahhh no what a nightmare, are you okay? We aren’t waiting til birthday, our gender scan is booked for 11th December!

@Nosejug yaaay I’m glad your scan went well! How many weeks are you now? Does this mean you have graduated from fertility clinic?!

@SarahAndQuackof course you can! Congratulations. How have you been feeling? Yes we all 100% understand the feeling of ‘is this really happening’!

@MugOfMildDoom I am really sorry to hear about your loss. I hope your future transfer works out for you 🩷

Thanks for the welcome @pastelheart. Smile

I seem to have been very lucky so far. I had a bleed and a scare last weekend but the EPU could not have been nicer and more reassuring, and I'm not feeling more than manageable sickness. I'm self-employed and one of my jobs is gardening, so I am hoping it stays that way so I can keep working as long as possible!

It's just so nice to feel some positive hormones TBH ... I had a horrible failed round of IVF last year and it was emotionally really hard. I did IVF with someone I thought was a good friend and he was furious with me when it didn't work and I was sad, then because we work together I had months of him glowering at me at work, and ultimately I lost that job when I'd just started into medication for this cycle! So I've spent most of this cycle in a flat spin trying to build up my freelance clients and feeling as if someone knocked me flat. But now I think the oestrogen has taken over and I have this lovely feeling of positivity. I'm absolutely sure it's purely chemical but I am enjoying it just as much as if it were illegal drugs and it doesn't feel much different from what I imagine they'd be like! Grin

Backtotheicsi · 20/11/2025 20:08

thanks all I feel ok, have found the heartbeat a few times but they won’t see me at all. The only way would be to say I had bleeding but I haven’t and wouldn’t feel right lying so I won’t be doing that. I will hold hope they all is well until Wednesdays scan.
I’ve now been told to stay off because of public health wakes getting involved with the level of illness in my school and new cases of scarlet fever.

SarahAndQuack · 20/11/2025 20:16

Good luck until Wednesday @Backtotheicsi! How do you feel about staying off?

pastelheart · 20/11/2025 21:00

@SarahAndQuack I’m glad they were lovely at the EPU and that everything was okay, that must have been worrying 🩷 I hope you can keep gardening for as long as possible, make sure you wrap up warm though, I can’t believe how cold it’s got all of a sudden! And omg I can’t believe how your friend acted, it wasn’t your fault it didn’t work before! Was he your donor? And if yes… is he the donor this time too? So glad you are feeling positive though!

@Backtotheicsiglad you are feeling okay 🩷 we have our next scans on the same day! Xx

YY, they were so nice!

Yes, he was planning to be the dad - it got really messy, which is a pity because I do know of people for whom that sort of arrangement has worked well. Absolutely not the donor this time! Grin Anon from the London Sperm Bank all the way.

CloudyIvy55 · 20/11/2025 21:24

I'm so sorry @MugOfMildDoom please look after yourself x

CloudyIvy55 · 20/11/2025 21:28

Lovely news on your scan @Nosejugsuch a surreal feeling isn't it!?

@magpie234a girl!! Amazing news!

Hi @SarahAndQuackcongratulations and welcome! Completely relate to the feeling of not believing this is happening!

I've got my dates for my next scans. 2nd Dec for my 16 week appt and new years eve for my 20 week scan!!! I'm really not sure how I feel about that! 😬

SarahAndQuack · 20/11/2025 21:41

Thanks for the welcome @CloudyIvy55. New Years Eve is a really awkward date! Hopefully at least early in the day so you're not navigating the drunks in and out of Casualty - I remember having to go to hospital that day ages ago (for something totally boring) and being amazed how early some people start 'celebrating'!

CloudyIvy55 · 21/11/2025 11:42

@SarahAndQuack it's at 3pm so not a great time either. It was a 45 minute wait for my 12 week scan which was the worst!! So hoping it's quicker this time. But I more worried about the possibility of getting bad news on a memorable day, somehow that makes me think it will be harder to cope with.

But so far so good, so there's no reason to expect bad news so it could be great news on a memorable day which would be lovely!
