Wanted to start a thread for anyone expecting after IVF and due next spring/summer

I am finding it quite daunting after infertility for 4 years and then a round of IVF to now be FINALLY expecting in June 2026, can hopefully chat with anyone else in the same boat

Oh, interesting.

Birth weight is such a funny one - my ex-P had gestational diabetes and we were told DD was measuring huge. She was 8lb 10, so we thought ok, that's biggish. Only found out later that if you're on a drip during labour, that can affect birth weight. It was incredibly annoying, because we had a health visitor who absolutely terrified DP by saying the amount of weight DD had lost was dangerous and we needed to do top-up feeds or go back into hospital.

Months later a competent midwife heard about it and said 'oh, but didn't anyone tell you you'd expect that sort of weight loss; it was totally normal'.

(And again with my rant about what you put up with as a first time mum! Grin)

Sara237 · 10/12/2025 14:27

@SarahAndQuack congratulations on being 14 weeks! Yes, still feeling very surreal to me. I occasionally remember there's an actual person inside of me and have a few words with them! I'm still finding it rough but have had chest infection since last week so coughing up stuff triggers yet more sickness...sorry TMI. I'm fantasizing that once this illness goes, I'll emerge as a new woman; radiant, energised and not an ounce of nausea. 😂 I live in hope.

SarahAndQuack · 10/12/2025 14:29

Oh, you poor thing! You did not need a chest infection on top of everything else!

YY, I hear all the good things about the second trimester. I'm hoping! My midwife gave me the lecture about talking to my bump - I rather liked that, but I'm terrible at doing it!

So relieved this morning as I think I have picked up another client - gardening always goes quiet over the winter and it'd be good to feel a bit more solvent as this all becomes a bit more real.

Just finished doing my tan for my Christmas party tomorrow and it really hit me how much has changed in a year - the day after my Christmas party last year was my egg collection and now I’m 8 months pregnant from one of those eggs!

pastelheart · 11/12/2025 06:29

@SarahAndQuack oh 100% her heart is in the right place… but it’s still winding me right up 😂😂 congrats on being almost 14 weeks! I also 100% struggled to feel it was real at the start, but the bump and baby moving makes it feel more real. Omg I didn’t know that about the drip?! I had the drip with my son and he was 8lb4 and a bit early so that makes a bit more sense! Excellent news on the new client

@worldwidetravel2017 I think you need to take growth scans with a pinch of salt, if your family is tall obvs that can cause bigger babies. How tall are you and your partner?

@dubkitten amazing how things can change 🩷 I can’t believe we are going into 2026 expecting our little babies!

GENDER SCAN DAY! I haven’t slept I am so excited to see baby again, it’s at 5pm so will report back as soon as I can! I predict not much work is being done today lol xx

Sorry just catching up again lol

ive got to have growth scans just cause it’s an ivf pregnancy no other reason, seems to be different rules in different places. They made such a fuss last time about my daughter being so small and not measuring where they expected but I’ve come to realise I’m just a 5 foot 10 lady whose daughter will be lucky to reach 5 foot lol she’s tiny still and the women in my husbands family are all dinky dots so I think she was just her own build to be honest. She was 5lb 3 but they had induced me 3 weeks early so she could have probably got to closer to 6lbs which I think is totally ok within the range of difference across babies. I’m expecting a little one again just to be prepared this time but maybe my genetics will step in lol

dubkitten · 11/12/2025 07:02

Best of luck today @pastelheart

i had a growth scan at 32 weeks due to my age and it being and IVF baby

It’s amazing to look back over the year, isn’t it? This time last year I’d just given birth to my first IVF baby. Now I’m pregnant with my second, from the same collection. All after 7+ years of struggling and multiple previous failed rounds of IVF. Trust the timing of everything. 🙏🏻

Hi, can I join? Currently 11 weeks today due date 2nd of July with IVF pregnancy , had 6 misscarrages prior so very nervous but had 3 scans at 6+3 , 8+3 and 9+5 baby growing fine and was measuring ahead so .. so far so good .. had my booking appointment yesterday with midwife and have my 12 weeks scan next week, was feeling very nauseous from 7 weeks and even had a few days where was bed bound with sickness, but the last two days my nausea seems to have just ‘disappeared’ which I am glad for but also worrying now that something may be wrong, anyone else’s symptoms starting to ease off at 11 ish weeks ? I have a hematoma so I am hoping that’s getting smaller and not effecting baby at all !

pastelheart · 12/12/2025 07:29

@magpie234 thank you! How are you?
@CloudyIvy55 I can’t believe it 🩵 we went straight to next and the baby spent all his dads money lol
@Backtotheicsi thank you 🩵 he had his little hand up by his face again, like his 12 week scan, I asked the person if his hand was stuck to his face but they assured me it isn’t lol 😂
@MintOwl thank you 🩵 how are you?

@AmberRose26welcome and of course you can join! I am sure you will find your people here, everyone “gets it” and are all lovely 🩷 I am so sorry your journey has been so difficult but I am so glad you are now 11 weeks with a perfect little baby. I had sickness from 8-12 weeks and it did suddenly stop and I was worried like you too, but everything is fine with baby xx

@pastelheart Doing good thanks! I am officially halfway today! 🎉 I think I have just started to feel baby but only subtle little goldfish swishes and flops so far…

@AmberRose26 Hello and welcome to the gang! I have found this thread so helpful knowing everyone here gets it after rockier roads to their pregnancies. It is so lovely hearing all the updates from scans etc especially as we are understandably all an anxious bunch. I have my scary anomaly one next Wednesday… luckily at 8.30am to get it out of the way! I know I will be terrified that morning though. In response to your q my nausea turned a corner pretty much on the dot of 13 weeks but your placenta may well have taken over earlier. I hope so for you!

How is everyone doing on the symptoms front? I am sleeping better now thankfully (pillow between knees and ankles is a game-changer) although still struggling with tailbone pain. I fell down the stairs years ago and injured my coccyx (may even have fractured it tbh but not sure as never went to the doc) so am wondering if pregnancy has reaggravated that past injury 😬. But… so happy to have a big appetite in time for Christmas after all the first trimester nausea! Now just desperately trying to avoid all the colds… fingers crossed nobody on here comes down with one but my husband has about 4 Christmas parties and is on the commuter train a lot so I fear he will bring something nasty home 😫

MintOwl · 12/12/2025 08:41

@pastelheartall ok here thanks! 18 weeks + 1 today, baby the size of a bell pepper this week :)

@magpie234congrats on the halfway point! good to hear you’re sleeping better but sorry to hear about the tailbone pain. Have a similar pillow set-up! I came down with a nasty cold almost as soon as my nausea stopped circa 14 weeks but thankfully gone now, hoping that’s it for the winter. Fingers crossed you avoid them.

not feeling any symptoms at the moment which is slightly disconcerting, though I do have a very small bump and some stretch marks appearing.. anomaly scan on NYE still feels along way off so really hoping everything’s ok in there. It is surreal not feeling like I’m pregnant though after the earlier symptoms. Hope I feel some movement soon but I know it can be a few weeks yet.

@AmberRose26welcome and congratulations to you, so sorry to hear about your journey to this point but pleased to hear you’ve had three scans already which must be reassuring. The anxiety about the next one never seems to go away which is why it’s nice to have a community like this.

Hope both of your scans go well next week - keep us posted!

@MrsB2025lovely to hear you’re pregnant with no 2 so soon after no 1 given your journey to get here ❤️

CloudyIvy55 · 12/12/2025 08:57

Hey @AmberRose26 welcome and congratulations!

I remember suddenly feeling pretty good at around 11 weeks which worried me after a MMC at that point in my last pregnancy but all was well and I'm 18 weeks today! It can be very difficult not to read heavily into symptoms and what we can and can't feel but those scans are really reassuring x

waitingforourmiracle · 12/12/2025 09:25

I'm just dipping my toes in this thread because it's still early days for me (8 weeks today) but I recognise so many user names from the infertility board and it made me so happy to see you all here!💛
Hope everyone is having a healthy pregnancy! Xx

magpie234 · 12/12/2025 09:48

@waitingforourmiracle Oh yay! So happy to see you here too 😊

waitingforourmiracle · 12/12/2025 10:04

@magpie234 it's felt like a lifetime to get here 😂I had a scan last Friday and measuring a couple of days behind but had a good heartbeat so I'm back in for another scan next Friday and the wait is horrendous! I would be scanned every day if I could, I want to know what is going on in there! X

magpie234 · 12/12/2025 10:57

@waitingforourmiracle Oh I know. It is so hard! But hopefully all is fine especially if there is a strong heartbeat. Couple of days not much surely! I think I am just beginning to feel movements at 20 weeks but in a way as they are still so subtle it has only made me more anxious… constantly worrying that they have stopped etc.

AmberRose26 · 12/12/2025 11:41

Thank you all for the welcomes, that’s really reassuring to hear some of you had symptoms that just dropped. I just feel normal now and that before I was in a little bubble of tiredness /sickness /half awake type thing that just popped and I didn’t even realise I was in it .. until I wasn’t .. ( if that makes sense) 🤔 next week can’t come quick enough so I can see her again.

best of luck to everyone else in their upcoming scans. 🧡

AmberRose26 · 12/12/2025 12:02

Oh yes and we know we are having a girl 🩷as we got a gender blood test done last Sunday at ‘window of the womb’ and the results came back as a girl. So that’s exciting!

CloudyIvy55 · 12/12/2025 18:04

@magpie234feeling movements is very exciting! Completely understand the anxiety they bring on also though! I think I'll be the same when it starts for me.

@AmberRose26 a girl!! Lovely!

@waitingforourmiracle welcome and congratulations!!

Had a little bit of spotting again today... rang the maternity unit who once we talked it through told me it was nothing to worry about, and most likely a sensitive/irritated cervix.

I've had random very light spotting on and off the whole way through and it kind of feels like a cruel joke. A little bit of spotting was the first sign something was wrong in my first pregnancy which ended in a MMC at 11 weeks - so everytime it happens, it's hard to keep calm and rational about it.

Trying to trust the midwives who have been lovely. The bump is also bumping a little more now- 18 weeks today! 🥰
