I had a scan at 5 weeks on Friday. During the scan and on my report she stated the sac was empty. Now looking at my picture I’m sure I can see something in the sac?? Do you see anything or am I being silly.. Thankyou

You are exceptionally opinionated about something you clearly know nothing about. And rude too

know nothing about? Pretty sure I know more about my own scan and pregnancy than you do my love. I DO NOT have a blighted ovum. Therefore I am correct. Now you look silly 🥰

The thing is, there is not much point asking members of the public if they see anything in a still photograph of a scan. Unfortunately, whether you see a white area or not does not actually mean anything because we are not trained to see things and this is not a live view of the sac. I’m guessing when you had the scan the sonographer would have shown you the area in detail. 5 weeks is definitely too early to see anything anyway, as you yourself have confirmed. See what the next scan reveals on Saturday and hopefully things will have developed further on.

Good luck!

Wow, people are attacking OP for no reason at all.

Did anyone think she maybe had ectopic in the past, hence why they would scan her at 5 weeks?

Don't let this get to your head and stress you out OP.

I had a scan at 5w2d which was empty sac. I worried myself silly. Went for a private scan last Thursday and saw a baby and heartbeat measuring 6w5d. X

Incorrect. I never stated I disagree. I stated I can see something. I’m absolutely not in denial because I don’t have a blighted ovum. It’s absolute facts. I don’t need to be in denial about something I KNOW isn’t the case :) why do you seem so mad that my pregnancy is progressing okay? It’s giving bitter to be honest. My pregnancy is absolutely fine and quite clearly you don’t like that. Remove your self. You’re opinion isn’t wanted here :)

I honestly don’t know what to say to this. 🤯

My next scan is Saturday! Yeah they said the reason is low progesterone. So in my last pregnancy they gave me progesterone supplements until 16 weeks then baby aspirin until 36 weeks, he’s now 14 months old. So they’ve put me on progesterone again this time too, Thankyou 🥰

This thread is such a classic Mumsnet example of someone saying 'i love tomato soup!' and repliers claiming you've said leek and potato soup is the spawn of the devil 🫠

Congratulations OP! Wishing you all the very best with your pregnancy x

An empty sac pregnancy is a blighted ovum

Yes, but OP is only 5 weeks pregnant so an ‘empty sac’ (in appearance) is perfectly normal at this stage.
