I’m currently 6 weeks pregnant and am 41. Very aware of all the extra risks this brings and as my last pregnancy (at 39) all went wrong at the 12 week scan when they discovered a number of issues, I’m feel a little stressed by the next couple of months.

Just looking to see if there are many other older mums on here?

@Downtherabbithole83 my 12 wk scan is booked for same day! (I'll be 13 weeks). It's nice that quite a few of us on this thread are at the same stage. Is it because of previous pregnancy that you are going straight to NIPT rather than the trisomies screening test?

Because we ended the last pregnancy after a T21 diagnosis, we were offered to go straight to NIPT. I am so worried that it will happen again.

Completely understandable that you're worried. Hopefully it will be good news this time 🤞

I feel the same, had a tfmr due to trisomy 13 last year and so scared of it happening again. I'm only 6 weeks and had some brown blood occasionally when I wipe the last few days. I've just been for a scan at early pregnancy and everything looks good and she says it's likely old implantation blood. I still feel a bit worried as I never had this with my living son and did have some spotting at 16 weeks with the last pregnancy. I hope you can get some reassurance with the NIPT.

@Downtherabbithole83 I have got good results back from amnio. It is clear for all three trisomy.

Yes, I will have another scan at 23 weeks to monitor the bloodflow in the placenta.

And New the anxiety is back, I am worried now that the amnio has damaged our baby, so I am worried about the 20 week scan too.

It would be good to feel the movements, but I don't expect that before the 22nd week because I have anterior placenta

User0141 · 16/08/2024 16:07

@BeLemonQuoter Fantastic news 😊, great to hear results went well.

Those of you who have taken/are taking cyclizine, how effective did you find it? And did you find it took a while to work?

I started it on Thursday but not convinced it’s doing much so far…

Anyone in here due soon? I'm 42 and 39 weeks today ❤️

ImHopeful2023 · 17/08/2024 15:28

I'm 40 on my fourth pregnancy had two miscarriages previously and one healthy baby girl 14 months old now. Yesterday I had some pink discharge and some cramping but nothing since so hoping everything is ok the doctor did swab me yesterday morning so hope the pink discharge is delayed to that

BeLemonQuoter · 17/08/2024 16:27

@ImHopeful2023 Hopefully it could be just that. I had a swab taken too when I was 16 weeks and had brown spotting afterwards for two-three days. It was coming from my cervix as I have/had cervix ectopy (something normal and common during pregnancy)

CortieTat · 20/08/2024 08:53

I will be 10 full weeks tomorrow. We are currently driving home from our holidays, and I am worried I miscarry the moment I open the door to our house.
We were on a road trip, visited many places and slept in various rented accommodation. I worry that when my body figures out that it’s safely back home I will be done with this pregnancy.

User0141 · 20/08/2024 10:18

@CortieTat Hope your journey home goes smoothly. Completely understand your worries. Did your previous pregnancies make it as far as 10 weeks? I'm about 5 days ahead of you and a similar age - just counting down the days to get to 12 week scan/trisomy testing to find out if all is well so far. Midwife at booking appointment was completely relaxed about my age but I don't know anyone personally who has had a baby beyond the age of 43 so I do feel anxious.

Yes, the longest I made was 11+3, just three days before the scheduled 12-week scan. I miscarried before at 7, 8 and 9 weeks so there wasn’t any hard and fast rule about it.

Fingers crossed for you! Hope it all goes well.

Hi everyone! I'm 39, 40 when baby is due in February. First, had a loss at nine weeks back in February. I have my 12 week scan tomorrow and bloods, I'm feeling very nervous and can't help but think of all the things that could go wrong, I know some of you have been through the worst of it, I'm terrified.

sel2223 · 21/08/2024 13:44

Scan this morning went well - I'm 8+2, strong heartbeat etc.
I know I'll be back to feeling really anxious tomorrow but it's given me a little reprieve today that we might be OK.
Got another scan in exactly 2 weeks when we'll be doing the NIPT too - so nervous.
I'm 41, I'll be 42 when I give birth (all going well)

Glad to hear your scan went well it's a relief although I know short lived until we worry again.
I've my first one Friday if all goes well I'll register and book a NIPT etc

Gracie1825 · 23/08/2024 18:22

I had my first scan today measuring 7+5 which is close to my dates. All good so far good thank god, hope everyone else is doing ok at the moment 🙏

TheFormidableMrsC · 23/08/2024 18:32

I had a baby at 42. He was also huge. It was a really easy birth and I made an extra effort to keep myself fit and eat well mainly because I was an older mum. I have a 13 year gap between my children.

Piluka · 27/08/2024 13:41

@BeLemonQuoter why do you think the Amnio has damaged your baby? I have an Amnio book this Thursday and reading your post made me feel worried. I was high risk for T21 so that's why we went for it. With the NIPT I wouldn't be calm the rest of the pregnancy with an "what if". But now I am not sure what to do.

Hello everyone, I'd love to join. I will be 42 when, all being well, baby is due.
This is my 8th pregnancy, and I have 5 children already, so baby number 6 for us.
Because I'm Type 1 diabetic (as of January this year), my age, the amount of children I've had, and due to my Mum recently having a high BP related stroke, I will be delivering around 37 weeks this time. They've offered me the option of an induction or c-section, so I've lots to consider. I have my 12 week scan on the 14th, and having had no real symptoms up to now, it's always a bit of a hold my breath moment to make sure all is well.

I hope you're all feeling as well as can be :-)

Type 1 diabetic here too :) I’m 43, 44 on due date lol very nervous after 4 previous losses. Got my first scan in about 3 hours so nervous 😥

ImHopeful2023 · 27/08/2024 14:42

Hi all, unfortunately I have to leave this group at our scan today we found out our little baby heart has stopped so they have booked me in for a d&c all the best in your pregnancies

Thank you! I actually feel sick with nerves :( the only symptoms I’ve had is tiredness and sore boobs, however, the tiredness has eased off which has made me more worried :(
