Hi All, I'm 7-weeks pregnant with my second but there's a 7 year gap since I had my DS and so I feel like it's all new to me again. I had a really nice pregnancy with my DS and didn't have nausea or many symptoms really to be honest. But with this pregnancy I'm struggling 😩 I have nausea and my appetite is awful I feel like I don't want anything but if I do it's something very particular. I'm also feeling a bit low but I don't know if that's because of my appetite and it's making me feel a bit down that I can't enjoy food atm. Just looking for some fellow mummies to be that might be in the same boat or who have come out the other side and feel better now!

Yep sounds totally the same as I was! It started to ease for me about 11 weeks, I'm 27 weeks now. Just eat/drink whatever you can, I was worried I wasn't eating very healthily but I've made up for it during 2nd trimester.

logzy89 · 01/07/2024 11:41

Aw okay that makes me feel more positive. I'm just so tired too, feel like a zombie all the time and spaced out.
Yes that's been worrying me too that I'm just eating rubbish because that's all I can tolerate, but hopefully once I feel better I can start to get some healthy food in me! Thanks

Yep I'm with you, I'm 9 weeks with 2nd and 5 years since last pregnancy and feel like it's hit me harder this time.

I'm eating random stuff just to try and keep the nausea at bay in the hope that soon it will ease off. I feel like I'm grumpy and tired all the time!

logzy89 · 01/07/2024 12:17

Yeah that's exactly how I feel! I feel so cranky and just not in the mood for anything or anyone! Never know what I want to eat either!

I hope it eases soon for you!

Me too! I'm 9 weeks and have been feeling rough for weeks. I find constantly eating seems to help but I struggle to prepare and cook food at the moment (would be lovely to have a personal chef to just make me bacon sandwiches!) plus what I feel like I can eat changes every day! I felt very ill with my last pregnancy too but it's harder with a toddler to look after and I feel like a bad mummy as there's been a lot of TV whilst i lie on the sofa!

Aww sorry to hear you are feeling rubbish too!

Don't feel like a bad mummy as you definitely aren't! You just do what you need to do to get through this first bit!

In the last week I've had two McDonald's, pizzas, and other takeaways and ice cream but that's because it's all I felt like 😂 and I've been on the couch a lot too and hibernating! So don't feel bad, hopefully this will pass soon for us all 😊

I am 8 weeks with my second and I don't have the debilitating morning sickness I had with my first - hurrah!

But I do have a 2 year old to look after ConfusedGin

logzy89 · 01/07/2024 15:43

@Borgonzola oh that sounds fun for you! Luckily my boy is nearly 7 so a bit more independent now but I'm still going to have a shock with the change I think!
Good luck 😊

People keep saying they felt worse when they were having a girl so we will see, but maybe it's just because I'm older I don't know 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hello, Hope you all start to feel better soon. Us women are superheros. I'm currently 14w+1 and still feel terrible ive been like this since about week 6. I've been hospitalised due to severe dehydration and ketones high because of vomiting and not eating /drinking, i couldnt stand up i felt so poorly, ive passed out numerous times, the vomiting is never ending also vomiting blood at one point. On my 4th prescribed anti sickness and remain on gut protection. I had 2 ok days last week, first time I've been happy in what feels like a longgg time, i was hoping that was the start of getting back to myself. I actually felt like I was a good mum for those 2 days being able to do nice things with my 3 year old- ive felt like the biggest failure of a mum recently. But since last last wed I have struggled badly again. Feel like a fraud and a failure, how do some just breeze through pregnancy?!. I also take vitamin b6 which is supposed to balance hormones and help with nausea, so that may help some of you guys ? It was recommended by a doctor friend! Sorry for the whinge, I feel like I just need to let it all out as im having one of those feeling sorry for myself/teary days!
I really hope you all start to feel better soon, remember you are doing an amazing job xxxx

logzy89 · 01/07/2024 19:32

@Hanlew22 you are definitely not a failure of a mum! Sounds like you have had a really rough time so you are doing amazing considering how you must be feeling! Try not to heat yourself up, I’m sure you will start to feel much better soon!
my first pregnancy was pretty breezy so I think it every pregnancy must just be different. I’m struggling so far with this one but I am 7 years older than I was. You are doing amazing! Keep going xx

OP I also have a 7y gap! I had some bad nausea the first time but I would throw up and then be fine and get on with my day.

This time I have low level nausea that doesn't go away and I'm completely exhausted all the time, needing naps. And I have a nearly 7yo to look after too! Is it age? 😅 Or just a different pregnancy. I'm seriously worried about how I'm going to cope when the baby is here, sleepless nights and I am properly exhausted.

Oh we are very similar in our situations then!
That is exactly how I feel! Like sickness just there in the background and so tired but not sick enough to throw up. I am 35 this month so I don't know if it's that 🤦🏻‍♀️ or if it's just a totally different pregnancy. If you don't mind me asking is your 7yr old a boy or girl? People keep saying you are worse at the beginning with girls. X

I have a very energetic boy. 😅 Interesting if the symptoms are related to the sex - I am dreaming of a girl though I'd be equally happy with another boy.

I'm just past the 8 week mark too. We should come back to this thread when we get to 20 weeks (and when the babies are here) and see whether the boy/girl theory pans out. 😁

Hanlew22 · 01/07/2024 19:59

Similar age, I'm 36 and I do agree age can't make it harder, and yes a child already makes it worse, mentally you never stop and physically you never stop. The nurses when I was in hospital said HCG levels can be higher if its a girl and a few friends said they were so much worse with sickness when they were pregnant with girls also! I read somewhere that you high a quick surge of hcg too with girls which escalates the sickness not sure how true that is. My first pregnancy was a boy, I was sick and tired but it went and still got on throughout!
You are doing fab and like everyone says ' it'll all be worth it'...worst phrase ever to use to a pregnant sick woman lol. X

Hanlew22 · 01/07/2024 20:01

Thank you @logzy89 sometimes a nice comment goes a long way 🥰 I hope symptoms have eased off for you as the day goes on. Has anyone with their 12 weeks scan photos looked at the nub and skull theory? X

meltedchocolateandstrawberries · 01/07/2024 20:09

I'm 10 weeks tomorrow with my second and feeling horrific still. The nausea and tiredness is crippling. My son is 5 and I am not looking forward to the school holidays in a few weeks. Praying the symptoms will not be so bad by then. It definitely wasn't this bad with my son😫

elb1504 · 01/07/2024 20:10

Interesting about the theories on sex, my first is a boy and I didn't have half as much sickness as this time round, also putting it down to being 5 years older but would be interesting to see any correlation.

logzy89 · 01/07/2024 20:13

@Mamma36474 Haha literally the same! I have a crazy funny full of energy boy and I’m slightly hoping I could experience having a girls but I would be happy as long as they are healthy! We should definitely do that! I don’t know how this works on here but if you ever want to direct message me for a chat I’m here 🥰😊

@Hanlew22 aww no worries it’s just nice to not feel alone isn’t it! We are all going through similar yet I’ve been feeling alone for the last few weeks. I do feel a bit better of an evening usually. Hoping it eases soon for all of us. I’ve seen that theory! About the skull and jaw shape for a boy and girl? X

Oh no! Sorry to hear you are suffering! I feel like I don’t remember feeling tired at all with my son but this is like I sleep so much but still exhausted when I get up! Aww I know, I have my son quite a bit too over the holidays. Hopefully it gets better for us soon 😅

Yes it’s definitely interesting isn’t it! I’ve spoke to quite a few family members who said their sickness was really bad when they had a girl. Yeah I’m putting it down to age too, so we will see! Worried I’m going to have an awful pregnancy 😩

meltedchocolateandstrawberries · 01/07/2024 20:30

@logzy89 yeah I'm the same! I'm knackered from the moment I get up despite sleeping quite well tbh. It's gotta be so much worse because we've got a child to look after already. Totally worth it but I can't wait for the end already!

BabyFedUp445 · 02/07/2024 00:56

I was a nauseous zombie in the first 13 weeks. Also felt very down in spite of being over the moon about the pregnancy. Totally normal. Age won't help!

Commonsense22 · 02/07/2024 05:54

In the same boat here. Exhausted all day long with a toddler, feeling sick and I wish I didn't feel like eating. Instead I am starving and binge eating....
