Hi All, I'm 7-weeks pregnant with my second but there's a 7 year gap since I had my DS and so I feel like it's all new to me again. I had a really nice pregnancy with my DS and didn't have nausea or many symptoms really to be honest. But with this pregnancy I'm struggling 😩 I have nausea and my appetite is awful I feel like I don't want anything but if I do it's something very particular. I'm also feeling a bit low but I don't know if that's because of my appetite and it's making me feel a bit down that I can't enjoy food atm. Just looking for some fellow mummies to be that might be in the same boat or who have come out the other side and feel better now!

I was a nauseous zombie in the first 13 weeks. Also felt very down in spite of being over the moon about the pregnancy. Totally normal. Age won't help!

That’s exactly how I feel, I feel down even though I’m so happy to be having another child and feel so lucky. It’s obviously all these hormones going through our bodies! 🫠 thanks for the reassurance that I’m not alone 😊

In the same boat here. Exhausted all day long with a toddler, feeling sick and I wish I didn't feel like eating. Instead I am starving and binge eating....

Yeah it’s the tiredness that’s horrible too isn’t it! I only seem to feel like eating rubbish 😂 but I’m just going with it until I can stomach healthier stuff again. Hope you feel better soon!

Thanks everyone, looks like we are all in a similar boat so hopefully this passes soon for us all! 🤞🏼🥰

I am nearly 7 weeks too, and have a 2 year old. I am so so so so tired this time round, I feel I could sleep for 12 hours and wake up feeling the same, exhausted! Also feeling sick throughout the day, especially when I'm hungry but can't for the life of me decide what I want to eat!

Anyone got any good snack ideas to stave off nausea? I've already got ginger nut biscuits but they seem to be doing zero to help!!

I am so emotional as well.

Not that I want others to suffer but it makes me feel validated hearing similar situations!

Negangirlxx · 02/07/2024 21:19

I had a good appetite until about 7 weeks. Then, it was horrible morning sickness and nausea from 8 weeks, that didn’t ease off until about 14 weeks. Constant exhaustion, to the point where I was napping for hours. The first trimester is shit. I fully sympathise.

Now, halfway through my pregnancy, I have horrendous leg cramps, constantly need a wee, and I’m absolutely knackered. I also had some morning sickness the other day too, even though I’m supposed to be past it.

But, god forbid you complain about it! I think we should be able to moan about feeling crap. I’m very grateful to be pregnant, and I’m happy that my baby is doing well, but pregnancy is just not enjoyable for me, and that’s okay. Women should be able to express how they are feeling, without judgement, and if they’re not enjoying being pregnant, it’s okay. It doesn't mean that we’re selfish, or ungrateful. (Sorry for getting on my soapbox a bit there!) 😂

That’s exactly like me, have no idea what I feel like eating. I’ve actually had a slightly better day today, not felt as nauseous or as tired but my boobs are still absolutely killing 😂 when you take that bra off at the end of the day… ouch! 😣

I’ve just been trying to stick to plain things tbh, like crackers and a cup a soup 🤦🏻‍♀️ but I’ve found sometimes when I’ve eaten I actually feel less sick. I got some of those sickness bands today and going to try them. They might be worth a try!

Hope you feel better soon!

Yes same here, napping and sleeping loads but still tired. I’m glad you are feeling a bit better apart from the leg cramps and tiredness.

That’s so true, we should be allowed to have a little moan! Our bodies are going through so much and it can be so hard. I’m super grateful to be pregnant too, but at the beginning when you feel rough you can feel so alone, so it’s nice for us to all have a little moan and see that others are in the same situation!

my last pregnancy was quite nice tbh, just seemed to have struggled so far with this one. And I swear I’m getting a bump already! It’s like everything just popped out again 😂

Oh don’t get me started on the boobs. Do not get me started lmao! I ended up buying non wired bras from M&S and my god they’re a LIFESAVER. So comfy. The sore nipples are the worst though. So sensitive.

Travel sickness bands are a yes, totally recommend them. I also used Polos, and fruit pastilles to suck on, as well as fizzy blue raspberry bottles. Don’t know how, but they worked so well for nausea, for me at least lol.

Plain food, little and often really helped me too. That was advice my mom gave me. Plain biscuits, plain TUC crackers, toast was good too. Jacket potato was alright, chicken I could manage, and weirdly enough, scrambled eggs. I was also able to eat McDonalds fries for some reason. My body seemed to love salty, and plain. But then I’ve always loved chips drowned in salt! 😂

I found the worst thing was gagging after every Pregnacare tablet and folic acid tablet, and desperately trying to keep it down! 😂

I also found ice lollies to be good, as they helped to top the fluid up, if I was struggling to drink, and obviously the little bit of sugar in them helped me to feel a bit less dizzy.

logzy89 · 03/07/2024 10:51

@Negangirlxx hahaha that made me giggle, I’m going to look for those bra’s then because mine are so uncomfortable atm! If my partner even so much as tries to go near them I’m like get away and just give him the look 😂

i love those sweets so will try them, I have actually been having the odd gummy sweets that my son had in the cupboard and really enjoyed them haha.

i feel like I’m proper craving savoury stuff too so maybe there is something in that! I had about 5 takeaways last week 🤦🏻‍♀️ all I felt like!

okay will stock up on the ice lollies too! Thanks for the tips 😊

The bras are amazing, as they still give you good support, and they don’t pressure your chest.

Yeah them sweets are really good. I don’t know if it’s cos they’re sour or what. Savoury has been my biggest obsession but weirdly enough I’m having a girl; which is opposite to every old wives tale I’ve heard 😂 The takeaway obsession is real. McDonald’s Hamburgers were my craving at one point and I ate 8 in a week, two at a time, as you do! I also loved Chinese, and Nando’s. They’re my biggest obsession.

elb1504 · 03/07/2024 11:23

I'm having an awful day today super sicky and just generally feel rubbish, took some time off work had a lie down and ended up sleeping for hours even after a good night's sleep. I definitely don't remember feeling this bad with DS.

@Negangirlxx oh I will have to look at them then definitely!

yes same! I’ve been craving savoury stuff a lot, and I am usually a sweet tooth person so it’s strange for me now wanting chocolate and stuff. hahaha that’s hilarious I did have about three McDonald’s in two days last week, and then was craving garlic bread with mushrooms!

I haven’t felt like a Chinese yet but I’m sure I will have loads more cravings to come!

I couldn’t even look at chocolate for weeks and weeks. Even now, I have to really be in the mood for it.

Yeah cravings are so weird. They’re so intense too! My partner doesn’t understand at all that if I need a certain food, I NEED that food, right there, right then. It’s like nothing else I’ve ever experienced.

Aww no! Sorry to hear you are having a bad day, I seem to be up and down the last couple of days. Have bouts of feeling okay then feel sickly again. I’m hoping that means it’s starting to pass.

good that you are getting some rest and taking time off work, it’s not fun having to go through this and then working on top. Hope you feel better soon!

I’d say it might do me some good but I’m making up for it in other ways 😂🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah they are so weird! Even though I’m only 7 weeks my stomach feels huge already and I’m guessing it’s bloating from all the rubbish but I’m defo bigger than the first time. Probably because everything is stretched!

I don’t know how it all works tbh, as this is my first pregnancy that has made it to this point. My first ever pregnancy only made it to about 5-6 weeks. So it’s definitely a learning curve, but I did have a lot of bloating on and off in the first trimester so I soon ditched my jeans! 😂

Aww did it, I’m sorry to hear that. But I’m glad this one is going good for you.

oh yes jeans have gone out the window, I’m wearing stretchy pants and big knickers and I’m thinking I can’t believe I’m going to be a lot bigger than this! Exciting though, just need to get past this next few weeks

Yes, unfortunately, but if it weren’t for that happening, I wouldn’t be 5 months pregnant with my beautiful rainbow. When it happened, it made me realise that I was ready to start a family, and it motivated me to try again.

Every time I look in the mirror, I swear I notice something new, or my belly looks a different shape. It’s absolutely fascinating, and it’s also helped me to love my body, and not give a monkeys what other people think.

Aww yes that’s very true, do you know what you are having a boy or girl?

that’s so lovely, it’s fascinating isn’t it. I was pregnant a while ago with my son so it feels new to me again! It’s so nice to see the changes though. Aww and so you should, you are growing your little baby and it’s a beautiful thing!

So glad I found this thread, this is exactly how I'm feeling. Constant nausea and tiredness, and so hard trying to look after DS who is 21 months old. I definitely didn't feel this sick when pregnant with him so it will be interesting to see if the sex plays a part in symptoms!
Ice lollies and travel wrist bands are a good idea I will get both tomorrow! It's really getting me down, so good to know I'm not alone xx
