I was on progesterone since before pregnancy to mimic the natural hormone cycles and had progesterone injections until week 20. I'm on progesterone pills until week 34. Just to support the growth of the baby.

@Twinkletwinklelil congratulations on reaching 16 weeks. You will be fine to come off them the day you hit 16. I'm off them since 12 weeks and was so anxious but I'm 23+ 3 today and everything looking well 🙏

I’ve reduced mine to 1/day ahead of coming off at 16 weeks because I was worried about such a big hormone shift at once, and since halving the dose have had really bad headaches. Has anyone else had this coming off them completely?

Hi all
I’m due to come off progesterone
but I can’t figure out if it’s at the day I “am” 16 weeks or when I hit 17 weeks?
they’ve said take it to 16 weeks and then also completed 16 weeks.
DH says that I will complete 16 weeks on the day my “app” shows I’m 16 weeks.. I keep thinking it’s the night before I’m 17? I have no idea.
any advice? I’ve asked the consultant but not really getting the straightest of answers.

Recurrent miscarriage veteran here. It really doesn't matter, all the progesterone is doing at this stage is giving you some extra peace of mind. At 16 weeks you are about as "out of the woods" as you are ever going to be during pregnancy. I know stopping the progesterone is scary but your placenta is fully formed and you really don't need it anymore.

As my old consultant said, your pregnancy is no higher risk than anyone else's at this point.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy.

Yep @Wise0wl I had a week of horrendous headaches after stopping them 😣. I knew straight away the reason and after a bit of research I found that it's quite a common side effect of stopping. The headaches did pass after a week or so though and the benefits of stopping (no more mess, bloating etc) definitely outweigh the cold turkey headaches!

@MissScarletInTheBallroom my consultant said something similar when I tried to argue staying on them. Turns out she was right I guess that's why they're on the big bucks 🤷‍♀️😂

Thanks so much @Sez281, I have maybe four left but given what you’ve said I think I might just stop taking them now so as not to prolong the side effects!

Hi All, I just started on progesterone at 6w1d. I'm on the pessaries (2/day) and today I was absolutely shattered, feeling almost dizzy, barely being able to get through my day (and I'm on holiday so goodness knows how I would cope at work). Is this a coincidence, or could it be side effects? If its going to like this for weeks I'm not sure I can keep taking it.
I had an early scan yesterday, and we couldn't see a fetal pole at 6w. It might be that we were too early or it's not viable. So full of anxiety right now😢

Not currently but took it twice a day for the first 12 weeks with DD she's asleep here beside me now ❤️
