Hello @SnookyPook @RoseH36 and @Fullofconfusion ! I don’t know if there’s anyone I’ve missed- feel free to add. Just thought it might be nice to have a new space as we’re all fairly similar gestation wise and we’ve been through a fair amount together in the previous thread x

I have my first scan tomorrow, and my son is currently ill at home. I don't think my husband is going to be able to come with me. 😪 I had a horrible experience during lockdown where I had to go alone and found out I'd had a MC, and I really don't want to do it by myself.

He might be able to come with our son and hang out in the canteen or something at least but then not sure we should be taking a coughing toddler to a hospital! Gutted...

SnookyPook · 14/08/2024 07:47

@JC084 aw lovely to see you here! Really hope this one sticks for you 💗

@strawberry11 good luck with your scan today. Sorry you might have to go alone. I was pregnant during lockdown and constantly thought how glad I was that that pregnancy went smoothly. I don't know how people coped with losses at that time. Just remember today, this is a different pregnancy and every chance of a different outcome. 💕

Thanks all for your well wishes. Hopefully we're all adapting well! 🥰

SouthwestSis · 14/08/2024 11:54

Crossing my fingers for your scan @strawberry11 really hope it's good news.

I'm in a right grump this morning, got my GD confirmed yesterday with the results of my GTT but have been following GD diet anyways the last few days,
But this morning the yoghurt my husband had bought for me was too carby (and I sent him info from GDUK so I won't have to do all food shopping), then he'd eaten the half avo I was going to have for my breakfast, so all I've eaten so far today is 1 boiled egg. Feeling hangry!

And no info yet on when I can pick up my testing kit.

strawberry11 · 15/08/2024 07:59

@SnookyPook @SouthwestSis thank you both. I did have to go by myself but it was all okay. Baby is measuring at 11 weeks which is what I thought it would be - but all looks okay so far. I was in and out so quickly once they realised they couldn't do all the 12 week checks. Going back next week and my husband will hopefully be able to come then!

RoseH36 · 17/08/2024 07:57

@strawberry11 so pleased everything went well for you. Fingers crossed your husband is well enough for the next one.

@SouthwestSis sorry to hear you have GD too, have you got your kit now? You'll have to be really firm with your husband about not eating the things you can have. I don't think they always fully get what it's like having to adapt things.

Bumblebee413 · 17/08/2024 10:26

I’m so glad it went well for you @strawberry11 and really pleased that you get to do it ‘properly’ with your DH next week. How are you feeling symptom wise?

I absolutely get that @SouthwestSis . The feeling when you know you need to eat but are really limited is so horribly claustrophobic. I was trying to tell my DH that I didn’t want my daughter to have my ‘special’ yoghurt that she had requested instead of the other yoghurts in the fridge because it was my last one and would take away a whole safe snack option. I felt so petty!

I’ve now got less than four weeks at work and that feels lovely. Very ready to slow down.

@Bumblebee413 Haha I know what you mean, I felt the same with the GD safe brownies I made, my son developed a taste for them so ended up having to share which I secretly hated as they didn't last so long then and it was my only treat.

I'm ready to finish but the same time I'm not. This month has so far been my worst one for holiday bookings since I started this job so really need a lot more before I finish. Other agents have been really quiet too so I know it's not just me but is stressing me out a bit.

SouthwestSis · 17/08/2024 18:06

So good to hear baby is looking good so far @strawberry11 !
Hey @RoseH36 , I just picked up my testing kit yesterday evening but all in range so far, I have cut down a lot on carbs already this week.
Husband has actually taken the time to read the dietary advice on GDUK which is much appreciated as he is doing most of the food shops atm!
I know what you mean @Bumblebee413 , managing GD is a different ballgame when you have a toddler in the house!
I've been on leave this week so easier to manage my diet so will see how I get on managing meal prep for 12.5hr shifts with a 1hr commute either side starting Monday 😬

strawberry11 · 18/08/2024 20:08

Thanks all! Big relief for me.
@Bumblebee413 symptoms are still wiping me out, I'm so nauseous and tired, sneaking in a nap most days where I can. It's been a really tough week with my son being ill and off nursery, so I am just feeling generally exhausted. Fingers crossed for a better week ahead!

RoseH36 · 19/08/2024 15:58

@SouthwestSis that's long hours 😪 hope you manage to find lunches that will work for you.

@strawberry11 hope you have a better week, it's hard enough dealing with a poorly child without all the pregnancy tiredness and feeling sick on top.

JC084 · 20/08/2024 12:44

I had my first scan this morning and saw a heartbeat. I'm measuring 5+5 and they seemed happy with everything. I also managed to get them to prescribe me progesterone and so I've started that this morning.
Taking each day as it comes, but for today, I am feeling happy and cautiously excited

RoseH36 · 20/08/2024 18:37

@JC084 oh I'm so pleased for you! Top tip with the progesterone, wear pantyliners and if you are able to lie down for a bit after inserting one it can stop so much leakage (its only the outer shell that leaks as it dissolves so not the actul progesterone coming out). They aren't pleasant to use.

Bumblebee413 · 20/08/2024 20:40

Congratulations @JC084 thats such lovely news! I hope this week is going better @strawberry11. Which brownies do you make @RoseH36? Are they quite bitter or not so bad? X

OP posts:
RoseH36 · 21/08/2024 08:40

@Bumblebee413 I'm rubbish at making brownies usually but these ones come out really well and they are delicious. I'll PM you as it's from the subscription so can't just share the recipe.

strawberry11 · 21/08/2024 11:32

@Bumblebee413 thank you - good news is my LO is back at nursery but the sleepless nights with him coughing are really rough. I just want a solid night's sleep! We all need it. But I have my repeat scan tomorrow so hoping for a good result and a proper 12 week scan, along with my DH. Fingers crossed!
How much longer do you have at work - when are you due?

JC084 · 23/08/2024 10:18

Thank you! Fingers crossed this time they work for me. Used them last pregnancy but it wasn't to be. Not too bad so far but they're definitely a bit messy!

SouthwestSis · 23/08/2024 12:34

How did your repeat scan go @strawberry11 ?
How's everyone else's week going?

Have been managing to keep my GD under control and all but 1 reading is in range, but bump measured pretty big yesterday so the midwife now wants to pull forward my growth scan.

strawberry11 · 24/08/2024 16:52

@SouthwestSis all good thank you, was good to see the baby again and my husband got to come this time.

Which is the growth scan - how many weeks are you? Hope all goes well!

RoseH36 · 25/08/2024 08:22

@strawberry11 so pleased your scan all went well. Not everyone will have a growth scan, they are offered to those measuring big/small or with health conditions like GD.

@SouthwestSis measuring bumps just irritates me, it's measuring how big you are not how big baby is. Thankfully I've avoided any of those this time round, as my growth scans started early they've not bothered to measure my bump this time round. It's definitely smaller than last time but I was carrying loads of water then, I don't think I have as much this time round.

@JC084 will be keeping everything crossed for you. They didn't work for me first time either but second time lucky and I hope the same for you too.

strawberry11 · 26/08/2024 21:21

@RoseH36 Ah thank you for clarifying. In my area we get a 36 week scan so I wondered if that was the growth scan but sounds like it's different. It's a few years since I did this last time and I've forgotten a lot!

strawberry11 · 26/08/2024 21:26

Hope everyone is well. I am around 13 weeks now and I am feeling very fed up of the constant nausea. It starts when I eat something in the morning and continues basically all day, getting especially bad in the evenings. Really hoping it starts getting better - my only comfort is that hopefully it means things are progressing well but it's really draining.

Definitely worse than first time around, don't know if it's age or just being more tired!

SouthwestSis · 26/08/2024 22:18

I'm 28 weeks today, finally into 3rd trimester! Managed to get my growth scan done which was reassuring thankfully.
@strawberry11 my first trimester (and a few weeks into 2nd) I felt a lot rougher than my first pregnancy. Wasn't even vomiting that much but just felt so exhausted and generally unwell.
I didn't get any burst of energy in my 2nd trimester but I did feel a bit closer back to my usual self at least, I really hope this is on the horizon for you!

RoseH36 · 29/08/2024 16:22

@strawberry11 loads seems to have changed since I had my first. Hope the nausea has settled for you, mine was loads worse this time round too. I was never sick but just felt it all the time.

@SouthwestSis welcome to the last few weeks! Final countdown now for you.

Hope everyone is well? I'm finding these last few weeks a struggle now. I'm 35+4, SPD is now causing constant discomfort and pain and I'm just really tired and emotional all the time. I've asked the colleague who will be running my business in my absence if she can start picking things up from next week so I can try and slow down a bit.

Bumblebee413 · 30/08/2024 13:16

I’m sorry @RoseH36, that’s so tough. I’ve been lucky with the SPD but I am shattered too. I’ve brought my leaving date forward a few days and feel really good about that.

I’m in a bit of a pickle about birth location and that’s all feeling a bit much at the moment. Hard to know what to do for the best. I think I’m probably not going to have my home birth and that makes me feel a little sad, but it might be for the best in the end.

RoseH36 · 30/08/2024 15:09

@Bumblebee413 I don't blame you, maybe we were a bit optimistic going for 38 weeks 😂. My colleague has started helping from today so that will hopefully ease some of the pressure.

That's a shame you might have to change your plans, I hope you can work something out that you'll be happy with.

I've just had Braxton Hicks on and off for an hour, hoping I may go early again🤞
